Just starting a new small business, and as such wanted to do business with someone local. Even though you can get business cards cheap online, wanted to give business to the local copy shop. I seriously had issues at every turn. First, my day job is in Hilliard, so I often don’t get home till well after 5, but they have«bankers hours» of 9 – 5 Mon-Fri, two hours on Saturday. So I could only see them on Saturdays. Stop by, get a quote, ask what format they want me to send, lady(owner?) says PDF, so that’s what I send. Stop to look at proof, totally wrong. Girl behind the counter says problem was submitting in PDF, can I send original Adobe Illustrator file. I do, another few days, there’s a problem with colors, I submit new artwork, I approve the sample, should be done in the next couple days. Never get a call or email that it’s done. It’s now about two weeks since I started all this, stop by to pick up cards. While the colors are awesome and exactly what I wanted, every card looks like it was cut out with a bad x-acto knife. Rough edges. There’s «banding» of color down the card. Roller marks from top to bottom. Not the high gloss I was expecting. And when I randomly picked cards from the middle, most were off center. When I showed this to the two women(owner and creative girl-who was wonderful), the owner simple offered a refund matter-of-fact. I was fairly stunned at no apologies or offer to redo order. When I asked why, she said it wouldn’t get better, that’s the way it was with digital copiers. Her remark was, I had said I «wanted this to be perfect» in the beginning and she almost didn’t take the order because of that? Seriously? Of course I wanted this to be perfect. This is the first impression people will have of me and my business, and it looks like I ran those laser printer business card sheets. Maybe her clients don’t have high expectations, maybe they don’t know better, but even if the customers are willing to use these cards, the quality was so bad they should be ashamed of them. I could never have handed these out and been taken seriously. Will never do business with them
