Everyone is a critic. I can understand different views on how food should be. I have been all over the world and I love the food, the staff, and the odd decorations on the wall. It makes it unique and different. This restuarant has a high review because of southern comfort style of service. I enjoy being called Honey and sweetheart. I’d rather have this service than from up north where people are in a rush and almost throwing food to your face. A one time visit with bad review? No, that’s an injustice to the overall goodness of the food and staff in this place.

They have really interesting sushi rolls here that have filet mignon inside. I tried the cowboy roll and it was delicious. Then I ordered a Thai beef salad. The ingredients were fresh and flavors were on point! In our group of five diners, no one had any complaints!

Disappointed by quality and type of food. This place skimps on everything. Ordered Cashew Chicken with white rice. I asked waitress before ordering if it came with normal compliment of onions, bell peppers… I.e. and she said yes. It arrived with breaded fried chicken(from sweet and sour chicken dish), a few mushrooms, some cashews, and nothing else besides rice. Egg roll appetizer was tiny. In EVERY other Thai or Chinese restaurant in the area, cashew chicken combines chicken and plenty of vegetables. Nope not here. Guess the owner knows how to suck the profit out of a place. Not going back.

The food is always good and the service is great. My only complaint is the«Active Duty only discount». It’s a slap in the face to us Veterans. What your saying is, the young man who works in the office who hasn’t even deployed is better than us who have combat tours, and done our time for god and country. If your gonna offer a discount you should at least offer to all of us.

I must echo Mike G.‘s review below and ask how it is possible that this place got such high reviews? Do you people not know good sushi or do you just prefer mediocre food in a rather dirty looking place with superficial service? Well that’s what I got. First off let’s start with the food: I couldn’t help but check out this place after reading all of the fantastic reviews. We ordered the spicy tuna, the Air Force special roll and another odd«Americanized» roll with über amounts of mayo and other odd sauces on top. Also got the Pad Kra Prow(beef basil) from their Thai menu. What the hell we thought, let’s try it all. Spicy tuna roll — check picture. Tuna was dark in color, barely any spice and more rice than anyone would want or need in their sushi roll. The other rolls were just filled with an ungodly amount of who-knows-what mashed together all sloppy looking and way too heavy tasting. The«Thai» dish, and I put Thai in quotation because it was definitely not anything resembling what a beef basil/pad Kra prow should taste like. It was more like beef in soy sauce and some peppers, oh and a leaf of basil. Service: Ok, so there is good service, efficient service, poor service and in this place’s case SUPERFICIAL. The waitress, albeit nice in her own way I suppose, could not stop calling us sweethearts and honeys and darlings and smiling and saying sorry every 2 minutes. Umm. No. Stop. You don’t know me and you don’t need to act that way, just be you. These terms of endearment from a random waitress were simply too much, annoying and just plain fake. Décor and atmosphere: the place is just odd looking, look up at the ceiling when you’re there, it’ll make your stomach turn. I always look up because it says a lot about a place and the attention to detail they pay to areas that are not readily obvious. This looks like an old thrift shop turned into a restaurant, not my style. Not going again. I recommend you try another place instead.

Fellow Unilocalers of Fort Walton Beach… You’re disappointing me! Came here as it was close to base and had a good rating, but I soon regretted it. Came with two coworkers and we sat at the bar. First off I guess it was unusually busy for a Tuesday night, but service was slow… No one greeting us at the door, had to walk in and sit before someone finally said anything to us. Sat right in front of the fish and it didn’t look terribly fresh, but I’m no expert, I trusted my fellow Unilocalers. We ordered and didn’t get our food for about another 20 minutes since it was a bit more busy. The miso I ordered was forgotten about and didn’t come for a while, and when it did my bowl was less than half full and the mushrooms were chewy. Food came out and the Salmon in my Philly roll was discolored and very mushy. The Super Crunch roll was okay, as was the Unagi, but the Tamago… was microwaved? Yuck… Tasted disgusting… I guess for what I ordered it was somewhat cheap, but I expected far better being so close to the ocean… Sorry Unilocalers, but this was no good…

Excellent service from waitress and great tasting food. Sushi rolls however had the worst presentation ever… looked like the first time he’d ever made one. Cut the shushi in almost rectangles and just laid them on top of the thinly sliced already cut roll with no sauce on top… looked like something I would have done in my kitchen. Took a long time to get the check, but the waitresses were fantastically accommodating which is what brings this up to a 4… but barely.

WHAT A GEM! If only they’d move a little closer to Gulf Breeze a Proper… Delicious rolls and Thai food. They also serve Chinese and regular Japanese food. The servers were so nice and even when we left a few minutes after closing(maybe savoring every bite??) they were still nice, with the exception of the owner? I don’t know, she looked like the owner but anyway she doesn’t know how to smile… :( Regardless, it’s a must try.

Not much more to add… we had a gear experience with the sushi, and we’ll definitely be back. We especially loved the Volcano Roll, which was«melt in your mouth» good. Very reasonable prices.

Highly recommend!!! Extreme nice service. Didn’t get our server’s name, but she’s the tall blonde, she was funny and knowledgeable with the menu. Fish is fresh! Salmon just melts in your mouth. I’m not too wowed about speciality rolls, I prefer the raw stuff, and always afraid of fusion places, but their sushi/raw stuff is good stuff. Didn’t do habachi but the chef looks fun and entertaining. Active military 10% off.

A pretty good place for a nice lunch. The sushi was good, but the options for Thai were limited.

The food, service and staff here is great, I’ll be honest I prefer the slippery mermaid which is just a little father west but this is closer to home and still really delicious.

Best hibachi in the area, strongly suggest the filet/scallop hibachi! YUM– I’m not going to be cliché.

Our favorite local restaurant. Our Saturday«regular» dinner out stop. We have not done the hibachi because we love the sushi so much. I think you can do karaōke too! 10% off for active duty. Fresh, delicious rolls! Fav rolls: Renee II, Hot Mama

I’m an avid sushi eater and have visited all the local sushi joints ranging from Navarre, FL to Destin, FL. Yummy Sushi has is my second favorite in the area, falling only to Junos in Fort Walton Beach. The sushi is is fantastic, fresh, and made to order. The sushi chef, Gat, is a friendly and personable man and the customer service is excellent. I’ve eaten here at least 5 times but all I’ve had is sushi. I have absolutely no complaints on the sushi front… everything I’ve tried has always tastefully prepared and delicious. I was happy they had no problem created a «custom roll» for me to suit some of my food allergies. My only qualm with this restaurant is that they often appear to be short staffed. I generally visit during slow hours — I had to wait approximately 40 minutes my one visit during the dinner hour to receive two rolls because the sushi chef is also a hibatchi chef. I will continue to visit this restaurant and eat their sushi as often as I can afford it. :)
