Turkey Run Inn is a safe and clean place to stay when visiting the park. It’s a nice respite from the cold in the winter and the heat in the summer. Other reviewers have lamented the older state of the Inn, but I don’t think it’s entirely fair to compare a state park inn with a four or five star hotel. Rooms for two are on the small side, but who stays in their room the whole time at this park? Bathrooms have been remodeled and there is a tv and wifi in every room. There is a small desk by the window if you are unlucky enough to have work to do. Near the lobby is a large great room with several tables and chairs to sit and read or visit, and there are a few dozen puzzles and board games to play as well. There is also a large fire and some books to borrow. Downstairs is a ping pong table and a couple dozen arcade games. There is a newer indoor pool(no hot tub) as well. The outdoor pool is the large park pool near the park entrance. The restaurant in the inn has quality food and breakfast and dinner buffets are offered when occupancy is near 80%. There are tables with gas heaters near them if you want to sit outside. The inn has considered kids too, as there are kids puzzles and blocks in the great room, and a playground near the inn. There is also a small campfire area for toasting marshmallows. I rate the inn 3 stars as opposed to 4 mainly because of the small rooms and uncomfortable bed. We also had noisy pipes near our room that woke us up a few times each night. If you’re overly picky about hotels, then this probably isn’t the place for you. However, if you’re budget conscious and/or you have a family, then I think this inn will be for you. We saved $ 100 by staying two weeknights in the winter. Keep in mind that the Indiana State Park Lodging system and inns are some of the highest rated by vacationers in the US.

The hotel is quaint and rustic(check out the lounge!). There’s an arcade, which is pretty cool, and the indoor swimming pool looked really nice, but despite being«heated» it was too cold to swim. I don’t know if it would be warmer/heated more in the winter proper, but it wasn’t in the Fall. The hotel is old, and the hallways look kinda spooky, but the room was nice. The bathroom is like a 60s time capsule(which I kind of enjoy), so if you’re not into the vintage feel(and smell) you might not enjoy it. The wifi is okay, and there are about 10 tv channels for those of you who are probably staying in a nature park against your wishes. The buffet was pretty pricey in my opinion(14.95 I believe), and the food was only so-so. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about. My only real complaint was the front desk staff. I can’t speak for all of them, but the two young ladies working the day my wife and I stayed weren’t exactly«people persons.» Both of them had a sort of «what do you want?» vibe…“Oh, I don’t know, I thought I’d just check into this hotel. Only if it’s okay by you, though.“ Otherwise, an enjoyable stay. Probably the best move if you plan on hiking/spending a lot of time in the park.

Stayed in a 3rd floor room with a king sized bed. The queen sized couch next to the king sized bed was a joke. We didn’t need it so it was ok. The bathroom was very outdated and needs some TLC. The bed was actually very comfortable and great pillows!

Staff very nice only stayed one night thought the room was clean but needed to do some updating torn wall paper on wall and faded bedspread desperately needed a change. They are charging way to much for these rooms. Going to try breakfast in the morning

My family stayed in one of the cabin rooms for one night. The room was not clean and the toilet did not work at all. The turkey run state park is gorgeous but we would stay in one of the hotels in close-by towns if we go back next time.

Honestly, looking at the brochure I thought I was in for an amazing weekend at Turkey Run with my girlfriend so we booked 2 nights. The outside of the hotel looks beautiful, the outside was obviously recently renovated. However, walking inside changed everything. The staff was super nice and really meant well. I am not a hotel snob in any way at all, I have had great experiences at Super 8s in the past. I can be happy anywhere. After riding the sketchy elevator to the 2nd floor, we made it down the creaky, musty hall to our room. Had to unlock the door with physical, metal keys which had a price tag of $ 50 each if lost. This room made me uncomfortable, to say the least. Smelled like an ashtray that has been heavily doused with cleaning products. The creepiest picture of a deer was hanging on the wall glaring at me while I sat on the bed. No mini fridge, no ice bucket, and a 60 year old throw blanket covering the bed. I pushed the blanket to the side as I used my laptop to connect to the hotel’s wifi and book another room in Indy. Turkey Runn is absolutely gorgeous, but make it a day-trip and head home. Save your family, and wallet, from the experience. PS There was

I did indeed like this place. The park is fantastic on natural setting, birds and flora. The Inn was perfect for this setting. Simple rooms(never used the tv); after all that rugged hiking slept great. Rooms showed a little wear, but it was acceptable. Forgot my swimsuit so couldn’t use the pool. Restaurant is straight midwestern fare, tasty, everyone in our group satisfied. Alas NO beer or alcohol so carry in what you might want. Did like the lounge and gas fireplace with loads of puzzles, games, comfy chairs, good atmosphere. Staff sort of homey and friendly. Why on earth doesn’t Michigan have old inns in parks? Too late now to get old inns, but it is a nice option. Outside brillants flower display in porch pots, staff painting the doors. The season is getting under way.

We stayed here for 3 nights in June 2102, for a family reunion. The staff was all VERY nice, friendly, and accommodating. This is our 2nd family reunion here. The food is OK, but the service was even better. The Inn itself is also just OK — the rooms are a bit worn and a little dirty(the chairs), but you get what you pay for — the rooms rates we paid were $ 82– $ 92 /night. The front lobby doors are really dirty and the paint is worn, and the elevator creaked and groaned for 2 days and broke down on the 3rd day. Be aware that the rooms are grouped by type, so our room with 1 Q was way down the hall from our room with 2 Q, but we were next to a 2 D room. Also the King rooms are on the 3rd floor away from the other types, in our experience. However, the area is SO beautiful and the hiking choices are all spectacular(we did hikes #3, #6, #9). The suspension bridge over the river/creek was really fun, and there is a lot of history here. There is lots to do: horse back riding, kayaking & canoeing, swimming in 2 pools, tennis, basketball, a nature center, etc. We rented the Canyon Shelter for a day and that worked out really well EXCEPT there is NO trash service in the park — you MUST drive out with your trash which takes up a lot of room in your vehicle. We will be back.

We went for breakfast and it was good. I had the skillet, and it was as good as a skillet gets. I had the gravy on the side so I could put on as much as I wanted. My wife had the short stack and they where average. We got to the inn at 4:30 on Mothers Day and the last setting was at 4:00 for diner. Which seemed odd. We ended up in Rockville to eat which was fair at best.

We ate here last year for Easter Brunch. I found mold on the crust of my sugar cream pie which was store bought. And the manager was not happy about comping my meal and gave ridicules excuses for her kitchens lack of QC. I’ve never been impressed with the food at any of Indiana’s state park inns, but after that I will never, never try them again. As a Quality Control Lab Tech that’s just unforgivable!!! Take a pic-nic basket and enjoy the scenery at the parks but avoid the food at the inns at all costs!!!

Good fried chicken and decent food all the way around… sometimes kind of makes you feel like you are eating in a hospital or cafeteria of some sort, though, so I can’t give more than 3 stars. In all honesty, it is not that bad, though so try it out! The scenery in this area is amazing, so work up an appetite after hiking and come in and get some decent country cooking!
