For all that it’s a little divey when you walk in, Speedy Chick has delicious food and friendly, funny, and energetic staff. When I went in, they had me laughing until my stomach hurt. As a charming bonus, the hand-painted sign out front always has silly, humorous advertisements in a red, sort of loopy hand writing. There’s something endearingly artless about it. Very small-town and very mom-and-pop. Definitely recommend any of their chicken, as it is always moist, tender, and has just bang-up flavor and kick-butt texture. And the smelt… wow. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Fish sandwich ! You won’t find this on the menu but I went in one day and asked for a fish sandwich. They told me they didn’t have one. After a bit of coaxing«Ya got a bun? ya got a fish filet?» I had me a fish sandwich! while I was waiting for it to appear, someone else asked for a spicy ranch or jalapeño mayo condiment(I had asked for tartar sauce) I then altered my order to whatever they had and was I glad I did. That fish sandwich was TERRIFIC. Since that wonderful first visit, I kept their to go menu so I can call ahead an order the same thing. It’s worth the drive. Get one! There is NOTHING fancy about this spot. I love it!

Who knew smelt could be eaten? Awesome fried chicken! I feel stupid for not trying it sooner. It is a small place but big on taste(hah. hopefully not to cliché). Everything is great. worth the stop if your around Marshall

Do it. Get off the highway, Chicago/Detroit traveller. It’s a shack with one picnic table outside but it’s great. We sat outside in 30 degrees to eat and it was worth it. Good food, good value, good service, mom and pop, some local history. Don’t pass it up.
