I had a 1-hour escape massage with Jammie today… omg! She was amazing! I read her info on the website and it said she specialized in deep pressure which was exactly what I needed. I told her where my trouble spots were and she spent the hour working those spots like a master! When she said she loves doing feet, I knew I picked the right girl! Suggestion: get the membership… it’s so worth it!

My massage was with Noelle. It was a 1 hour escape with one of their email specials-$ 45/cash. It was a good deal and the massage was great! I will be going back to Noelle. I had severe upper back pain due to a whiplash injury from a car accident and she did an amazing job. My pain is gone and I feel a million time better. Good prices and great massage. What more can you ask for? I will be going back to Noelle and Escape Massage.

I had my first massage here today at 3PM. I’ve had many massages in my life both in and out of the U.S. with both males and female, just so you know. It was great. I booked my appointment online on Friday A.M., for a Monday afternoon appointment. It was an easy process and they ask your preference for male or female. The place is clean and tastefully decorated, but nothing special. They took me on time, there was no wait. — but it was also the M.L.K. holiday I filled out the standard form you fill out as a first timer at a new massage place. I’ve seen nicer, but it was fine. They had soft piano music playing in the background. My masseuse was Peter. He gave an EXCELLENT massage. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the following. I’m accustomed to being asked how the pressure is about 5 minutes into the massage. I wasn’t asked but the pressure was perfect. If you are new to massages or shy, perhaps you wouldn’t know enough or feel bold enough to ask. I also wasn’t asked what kind of massage I wanted(sports, Swedish etc.) I did tell him what areas I wanted him to focus on and he did exactly what I asked. They don’t use essential oils. I personally prefer the aromatherapy as part of the massage experience, but they don’t use it there, just a personal preference. They also offer a membership, $ 25 to join, and a 1 hr massage/month for $ 45. Good deal. add’l massages are even less if you decide you wanted more. I would definitely go back.

Just in the area visiting, and my muscles were MESSED up!(Thyroid issues cause me serious myopathy, but I digress). I needed a massage that wasn’t going to break the bank after spending lots of $$ on vacation, etc. Escape Massage Center has a GREAT introductory price. The salon is not exactly luxurious — and when I entered, the therapist was a little brisk and sniffly(she had allergies.) So I didn’t feel that fuzzy touchy-feely new agey vibe that I personally dig. In fact, I honestly considered walking out.(I just HATE getting crappy massages — and I hate paying for them.) But the therapist(Joelle) had REALLYGOOD technique. Thorough, firm, and I left feeling great. I did feel that her energy was pretty no-nonsense and the massage ended on a bit of an abrupt note.(And several minutes EARLY by my calculations.) But overall I think it was well worth the price because so many therapists just have terrible technique, or can’t do a slightly deep massage to save their lives. I felt great, and will be sending back my friend for a massage of her own soon. Thanks Joelle.(Hope your allergies get better.)

I’m a last minute massage-ee. I admit it. I rarely preplan. SO the other day when I decided I wanted one on whim… I decided to give Jeff a call. Now I had not been to see Jeff or anyone at Escape before, but I had communicated with him some months back when he solicited business via Unilocal(which actually made me resistant to going in, because I’m a stubborn bitch… but I also don’t hold grudges AND he does offer $ 10 off an already inexpensive massage for first-timers so what did I have to lose?) I called Jeff and he didn’t have a current appointment and was able to fit me in immediately(at about 6pm). I did not give my name on the phone and after I arrived he still hadn’t asked my name(and was out of preprinted client sheets) so I can honestly say he did not know I was a Unilocaler. Not that that should matter, but since we did have that discussion some months back I’d like to be clear it has not clouded this review. The spa is located in Marlborough Center behind Main street adjacent to one of the covered parking lots, so it’s convenient to get to. When I walked in the front door I noticed an unidentifiable musty smell in a rather dingy glass hallway and then through another door to the spa. Much nicer inside but odd… there’s this weird mix of nice furniture and chintzy stuff. I nice dresser and then a slip covered couch. I nice desk and then a putty filing cabinet. It was a dichotomy that carried throughout the place. The bathroom was kind of cheap looking but then it had a shower, which, really, could be useful. The room I had my massage in was painted dark red with black trim(which was nice) and have a black and white sink combo(recognizably from Ikea) which was also night. and black sheets. But then it also has plumbing pipes around the room and lots of places where the molding was missing and the paint was chopping. The carpet was dingy. A table was covered with a black sheet to disguise who knows what… And there were office chairs and foldy metal chairs scattered throughout the room. Not the ambiance I would like. The massage itself was also filled with ups and downs. There were many points, especially in the beginning, where his moments were too slow(even for deep tissue) and he never touched my face or head and never asked about sensitive areas(like buttocks) and if I cared to have any massaged(I’m not suggesting anything oogy here). Also, he used lotion and not oil. Oil had horrid slip and I think, as a whole, takes away from the massage. He did, however, dig in just the right places at a knot I had on my right should and manage to alleviate a little pain for a short while. And he did a great job on calves and neck. The table itself was divine. It was heated. You’ve got to love a heated table. Although the pillowcase that covered the face rest had a moldy smell like it was clean but it had been left in the washer too long and that was distracting, especially at first until I got used to it. So I guess what it comes down to is I want to give one star for parts, and five stars for other parts, so I’m rounding to three and calling this place a work in progress. I think maybe they’re still renovating and when they finish that will solve the décor issues, anyway. I would say to give Escape a try. There are two other masseuses on staff(and they are female) and their prices are very good. $ 60 for one hour of deep tissue with $ 10 off for first timers and monthly visitors. Will I go back? Maybe so. So far I’ve tried two places in town and although the setting was better at the other, I would say the massage itself(and that’s what you’re ultimately are going for right?) was definitely the better of the two.
