I have lived in Marion for most of my life and at one time, this very mall(fmr. North Park Mall) was full of activity and stores. There was never a weekend that it wasn’t busy. Those days are gone and what is known as the Five Points Mall is more like tomb especially now that JC Penny, Sears, and many of the specialty shops have gone. We have a Bath n Body, Carson’s, Applebees, Pretzelmaker, Rose’s, and a TCB Games that are all worth patronizing but until the owners of the Five Points Mall gets it through their heads that they need to lower rents and reach out to bring bigger and better to our mall-it’s going to be an empty building. It’s sad to see it as it stands now. It was once a thriving and beautiful place to be.

What’s there to say? You will spend more time walking through empty space than shopping here. This mall used to have GameStop, JCPenny, Sears, and other decent stores, but high rent prices and low foot traffic drove them out and outside of bath and body works, the only shops you will find here are little knick knack shops(junk).

So sad to see what our mall has become. I can’t even enjoy the play area with the little ones anymore, because JC Penney has their entrance blocked off and Sears is shut down, so I don’t feel very safe. lol Only one way to run! Stores are less than desirable. I was hoping the local stores would pay off, but they haven’t. Really disappointed they spent a lot of money redoing the middle of the mall. The only reason I go there now is to walk when the weather is bad. JC Penney is closing, which leaves Roses and Carsons. Carsons has been under construction for what seems like forever. It’s just not working. Tear it down.

This was a typical, tiny mall, not much more than you’d expect in a small town with Carson’s, JC Penney, and Roses(who?) as anchor stores. In a bigger city, most of the stores would have been relegated to strip malls, but thankfully for Marion area residents, they’re all indoors in one location. Who wants to walk from car to store in the winter weather? Having it all out of the weather is so much nicer. The center of the mall was very living room-like. I’m sure the people who own the mall want to make things as comfortable as possible for those who shop there.
