Kastaways Food & Spirits

Definitely a local bar. A little divy, but that can sometimes be a good thing. Friendly staff and good prices. We went for karaōke which is obviously not what the place is known for, but it was still a lot of fun. The food is average bar food and pretty good, but the service was sadly all over the place. Several in our party waited almost an hour for their meals, while others took no time at all.

Kastaways is a cool little bar off Powder Springs Road, across from the dollar tree (you won’t miss it, it has a huge sign outside, but still kinda low key!) My friend and I was looking for a late night place to grab a quick drink before heading home… Suprising how big this place is, with a pool room and outdoor seating, nice size for big groups. It seems like we were dining amongst a few of the regulars (causal cursing and foolery of most patrons — all in good fun).
I enjoyed a nice glass of Cabernet and my friend had a couple of beers, we played a few jams on the juke box. I haven’t had the pleasure of ordering from the menu yet (food), but I’m sure to return for darts and/​or pool.

Hmmmmm… what to say what to say. Just a wild guess, but the majority of the Unilocal community might not enjoy this place. It’s definitely a neighborhood bar with all of your locals/​regulars, and I’m not too sure there’s much of anyone else besides that. I have noticed that bikers like to hang out here a lot, you will usually see their rides outside. I think they all belong to an enthusiast club or something. The atmosphere kind of has a weird seedy vibe, not like I’m gonna die but just weird. Interesting characters in this place… which will mildly entertain you with karaōke stylings or just by even sitting there.
Now for good stuff since obviously I’ve been slanted one way thus far – the beer is cheap, which is good anywhere. The best part about this place, believe it or not, is the food. Desperate for lunch/​dinner one day I stopped by here to order carryout. To my surprise it was some of the best food I’d tasted in a good minute.
What is the moral of this story? I really don’t know. 2 stars, 1.5 belonging to the food. I guess that says enough…
