My company worked with Deirdre at Fatty’s to secure their services for a relaunch event at a brewery. I cannot say enough about how accomodating she was to our specific needs. If you are thinking about using them as your event caterer, DOIT!!!

You know, sometimes all you want is a hot dog. And Fatty’s serves up some damn fine hot dogs. I’ve had the pleasure of having Fatty’s on a couple of different occasions and it always hits the spot. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious. With slaw, without slaw, onion sauce, mac & cheese… win. The hot dogs are all beef and Fatty’s serves them up with just about any topping that you’d want. Oh, and don’t forget the cannoli. Or the root beer float. Or the Italian ice…

I just had my first Fatty’s experience at tonight’s Kennesaw Dinner at the Depot. I ordered the spicy Italian sausage with peppers and onions. It was huge, well spiced and perfectly cooked. I thought I would not be able to eat it all but it was so good that I couldn’t stop. Delish. I will certainly look for them again.

I heart food trucks. I’ve had the pleasure of eating at Fatty’s several times and they never disappoint. This truck serves New York style hot dogs(Sabrett) and sausages. They also serve some other yummy items such as knishes, cannolis, pretzels, and Italian ice. Sabrett Hot Dog: This is their regular hot dog that comes with ketchup and mustard. You can add additional toppings for $.50. I added onions to mine. It may sound pretty plain, but this is one good hot dog. Da Bronx: This Sabrett hot dog comes with spicy mustard and onion sauce. I’m particularly fond of the onion sauce. Yummo. Did I just say Yummo? Yep. Yummo. Cannoli: Fatty’s offers a traditional cannoli with chocolate chips on it. I really like cannolis as a dessert because they are not too rich. This means I could eat way too many in one sitting if I don’t control myself. I fail at self-control many times. Italian ices: I’ve sampled the mango, cherry, watermelon and chocolate Italian ices. These are a perfect way to end your evening. Nice and refreshing on a warm evening out at the food trucks. Check them out if you see them around town!

Best Canoli in… how many miles between Marietta and Fatty’s moms house? Everything on this Food Truck is top notch. I’m a hot dog truest and want nothing but a real dog with nothing on it… Fattys delivers that great taste every single time! Come see them at the Dinner at the Depot in Kennesaw. You will probably see my wife and I there enjoying a dog and a Canoli!!!

Knish me, I’m Jewish! Well half, anyway. But I know true dogs and Jewish snack foods when I get ‘em. Take me to Fatty’s — wherever they might be around town, please. My only complaint is they aren’t always so easy to find(btw, not worth docking them a star for this). Fatty(and wife) are like the Rogers and Hammerstein of food trucks. Their food is like a 3-act play and it’s full of wonderful tunes along the way. Let’s start with the opener: Act 1 — Potato Knish: This can best be described as a mashed potato turnover. They can be large, small, round, square… the ultimate Jewish snack food. You can get it with spinach and cheese or pepperoni for extra, but why mess with a classic. I like mine with a little salt and sauce(mustard works for me, but there is also Fatty’s special spicy sauce). Yummmmmm. You cannot go wrong here. Fried taters. Yes please. Act 2 — The Dogs: Okay, I could go on and on here and they all have names and things that come on them, but I will tell you what I have had and I loved them both(and please don’t ask me for names). A dog with peppers and onions(OMG, to die for) and a dog with mustard and slaw on top. Their slaw is creamy and crunchy — two things slaw should always be. Their dogs are all-beef Sabrett hot dogs and juicy and delicious. And Act 3 — Cannolis: Traditional cannolis with the chocolate chips dipped on the ends. Fabulous crunchy shell, not too sweet, but sweet enough to let you know this is the final act to your kick ass food truck indulgence. As they say — go big or go home. Fatty’s doesn’t skimp, so you definitely get your money’s worth. Look for they around town and get yourself a full 3-act meal and you will not be sorry… but you might be full.

Eyyy, Fatty’s! This is a husband-and-wife run food truck that serves up authentic New York style hot dogs and sausages along with other NYC favorites like cannolis, knishes, jumbo pretzels and Italian ices. The proprietor John is the real deal – he’s been slinging out dirty water dogs since he was a young man in New York. He definitely knows how to dress up a delicious dog. I’ve had several of the menu items over two separate visits and highly recommend all of the dogs and sides that I’ve sampled. Fatty’s Tex-Mex($ 6): Quarter pound Sabrett all-beef dog with lettuce, onions, cheddar, black bean & corn salsa, chipotle cream. This one definitely has a southwestern flare that really compliments the beef hot dog’s distinctive flavor. It’s not really very spicy at all. «Da Bronx»($ 6): Two all-beef Sabrett hot dogs with spicy mustard and Sabrett onion sauce. This one sound simple but it actually packs a wallop. The onion sauce has a nice zing that compliments the mustard. Potato Knishes($ 4): Potato pancakes. Before Fatty’s I had never tried a knish, so I can’t speak to their authenticity; but they sure are tasty! You can add either pepperoni & cheese or spinach & cheese for $ 2. Cannoli($ 4): Traditional cannolis with chocolate chips. These things taste way better than any other dessert I’ve tried from a food truck. Fantastic crunchy shell, decadent but not overly sweet. Get one with your meal. It’s worthwhile, trust me. It seems like Fatty’s spends many Saturdays at a Petsmart, and otherwise travels around to various office parks during the week and local festivals on the weekends. Try checking out their FB page or Twitter account to see where they’ll be next. And be sure to come hungry – they don’t skimp on the portion sizes!

**Update: Cannoli is good, nice crisp shell. But the Italian sausage is *fantastic*. Added a fifth star explicitly for that — pops when you bite into it, peppers and onions are still crisp. Also, regarding my original comment on the speed of service: They’re a lot faster with only a dozen people to serve at once, instead of a hundred, so I’m not going to hold that against them.

Fatty’s recently came to the office complex where I work. Seemed like something worth checking out. I mean, hot dogs and pretzels-what could go wrong? I was disappointed. For starters, when I arrived around 1:30, they were out of a lot of the hot dogs. Secondly, the hot dog I ordered was enveloped by the bun-you could barely taste the meat. And the kraut tasted like it came out of a can. I also ordered a salted stadium pretzel, and it tasted like it had been microwaved. I think it was over-salted to mask cooking process. Gross. I think next time I’ll just go to Costco for a hot dog and Turner Field for a pretzel.

Where can you find Fatty’s? I wish they go to the food truck park, but as of right now, they seem to only go to special events in Atlanta. I got to try them out at the Unilocal OTP Elite event. Fatty’s is a hot dog food truck. But wait, there’s more. They have other foods such as mac & cheese, knishes, pretzels, and cannolis. At the Unilocal event, I tried their Bronx dogs with spicy mustard and onion sauce. Man, they were probably one of my favorite hot dogs that I’ve tried in Atlanta. The ingredients seemed simple, but the onion sauce made a huge difference. It lifted the flavor of the hotdog and made it delicious. My only complaint about the dogs was the bun. I don’t know if it’ll change the price too much, but if they used a better bun, they would have one of the best dogs in Atlanta. I also love their cannolis. They hand make these, and they taste quite yummy. The pastry and the cream both tasted good, and it seemed well made. The people who work in the truck are nice people. They were very friendly and accommodating. So far, I haven’t found a food truck that I like in Atlanta, but Fatty’s will take that title. I mean, the owner, John, has been doing this since the 60’s. So he seems to know what’s up.

Yum-meee! Yes, I know they’re «just» hot dogs. But, they’re dressed up so nicely and served with genuine New York accents and hospitality. I had two Dirty Water Dogs. The second with hot sauce drizzled over top. Both were not long for this world after that first bite. Quality through and through, by the way. Later, John, the proud proprietor since 1968, handed me two finely crafted cannolis. Haven’t had a cannoli in ages and these were tastebud-elicious! I hope I win the free work lunch truck visit, but even if I don’t, I will be looking for this purveyor of fine finger food fare from now on.

My husband found Fatty’s over a year ago at a festival. He grabbed me and said«you have to try this hot dog, it’s the best». He was right. We have come across Fatty’s at several more Festivals and today at a lunch event. They have the best hot dogs and sausages this side of the Mason Dixon line! They have knishes that are incredible and their soft pretzels are to die for. John and Dee are the friendliest people you will ever meet. If you ever see the Fatty’s of Atlanta truck make sure you stop and grab a dog. You will not be disappointed.
