Found my new addiction for whenever I’m in Marietta. Bulgogi tacos. Yummy. Dumplings. Yummy. They also have lots of American favorites for kids and the less adventurous.

Very nice ambiance! Having just gotten back from Korea, I wanted to enjoy the culture, and I found one 2 miles away from me! I only ordered the bubble tea because I wasn’t hungry, but service was good. It was very clean and the Korea music playing in the background was very enjoyable. I did visit in the evening, so there wasn’t any crowd, but from the many reviews and lunch specials everywhere, I’d definitely be coming for lunch soon enough! My coconut bubble tea took a total of about 20 minutes to come out(there were three very different orders ahead of mine) and it tasted very great! My server was good and the manager was friendly. Coming back

Really tasty and clean casual Korean food. I love that I don’t have to go all the way to the other side of town. They have a kimbap menu now! I got the bulgogi kimbap and the tuna kimbap. They hit the spot for sure. $ 1.50 tacos on Wednesdays are really tasty. The tacos are made with the 6″ traditional flour tacos and you can customize them to your liking.

This was a nice little experience. Big joy fresh grill is a Korean style food along with a Mexican side style food if you are feeling that excited to mix two cultures. The inside looked clean small and simple yet kinda open. When I went there wasn’t a lot of people maybe about 4 – 6 people in total eating. There are square tables along with some benches towards the left with some cool fluffy pillows. The menu is not hard to read just know you start reading it right to left. I went in and asked if they could guide in choosing between a tasty meal. They were very nice is explaining what I should expect with Korean style food and what they have to offer he quickly but informatively gave me the run down of the menu and I got a better understanding of their food. I order the rice bowl. They give you the option of choosing your rice, 1 meats, 5 vegetables, and sauce. Rice: white rice, sticky rice, or brown rice Meats: chicken, beef, pork, or fish(tilapia) Vegetable: onions, beans sprouts, mushrooms, carrots, spinach, broccoli, and kimchi Sauce: they ask you what u like and help u choose the right one My rice bowl was brown rice with chicken along with broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, bean sprouts, and spinach with a mild sauce. I purchased also a bubble tea –mango tea with strawberry bubbles The total for my meal was $ 12 buck a bit more then I expected to spend on a quick lunch but well worth it The food was great, came out pretty quick What surprised me was the appetizer or sample off the menu that came along with my meal. It was small but tasty. It was a tortilla chip with cheese steak pico de gallo sour cream and salsa. Over all I gave them 4 stars. Their bubbles teas are tasty but I wouldn’t pay $ 5 bucks for it when you can drive to Buford and get them under $ 3 bucks but being its one of the few places in Marietta that sells them I see the price difference 4 thumbs up for Big joy fresh grill bar
«I always use real frozen or fresh fruits or real fruit juice for my bubble tea» Owner of Big joy. This really changes a few thing on this previous review. I take back my previous statement about the price of their bubble teas. The price is reasonable compared to other places around Buford hwy. To my understanding other places use powder instead of real fresh/frozen fruits and juices to make bubble teas drinks. Big joy take pride in using fresh fruits and juice and should be taken in consideration. So it make sense! really enjoyed the bubble tea guys Keep up the great work Big Joy! I will be back for the bubble teas!

My massage therapist is located in Marietta so I try to check out restaurants in the area after my appointment since I rarely travel up to the north burbs otherwise. Big Joy was an easy find and has a large lot shared with other businesses. There were no other customers when I stopped in. The server was very helpful explaining everything to me and providing suggestions for a newbie. I went with the steak bibimbap. It was served up in a stone bowl very quickly. Was told to stir it up right away so that the rice didn’t burn. And he told me to wait for about 2 – 3 min to let it it cool a bit. I worked on the soup while the dish cooled. I needed a bit more time than that as I don’t like my food piping hot. Three types of kimchi were served on the side and I tried bits of that with the bibimbap(I’m not a big fan of kimchi, but it was OK). I opted for the mild sauce given the recommendation from the server. Good choice. Overall, I though the meal was quite good. My server was wonderful and another employee(maybe a manager) checked on me a couple times to make sure everything was OK. Odd thing to note, I know, but the bathroom smelled amazing. How often can you say that? lol. I need that air freshener.

Great place! I love their bibimbap, and their hot sauce that goes with it is absolutely delicious, it’s not just pure heat and actually has flavor. Their taco’s are great as well, the bibimbap is definitely better, but the taco’s are worth mentioning. Another giant plus is they have bubble tea, you can’t go wrong with bubble tea. Ingredients are fresh, you can just tell that they are not canned or frozen, the rice is just cooked perfectly(I am sure their rice stands up it’s so perfectly cooked, you Korean folk know what I’m talking about). Key tip, Wednesday is half off on tacos if you want some cheap but good tacos. As far as atmosphere and staff, both are great, not extremely classy or upscale, but the food makes up for the lack of unique atmosphere.

Staff is super friendly. The first time I went in there two young guys were working and they told me they’d prepare anything I wanted because they enjoy cooking so much. I asked if they could make Tom Kha and they did(super good). –1 star only because every time I order something here I get the shits but I keep coming back anyway.

Hidden Gem, Big Joy is an amazing fusion of Korean, Mexican and South American. All the ingredients are incredibly fresh and the sauces are amazing. I am usually wary of anything fusion. Come on, what is more American than Mexican and Asian? Big Joy does it right combining fresh ingredients and grilled meats for a healthy, great tasting, fast food alternative. I have to add that they make some of the best Kim-Chi I have ever had. Food is very reasonably priced, they run lunch specials around 6 dollars and the service is wonderful(there are no servers it works like a chipotle or subway where you choose your veggies, meat, etc). If you are wondering if you should give this place a shot the answer is a definite yes. Bibimbap(Korean Mixed Rice with Meat, Sunday side up Egg and Assorted Vegetables) is ONPOINT.

We always drove past this restaurant. At first, I couldn’t tell what food they specialized but upon looking at the online menu I knew I had to give them a try! There is very few Korean Restaurants in this part of town without having to drive out to Buford Hwy or Duluth. Imagine my excitement when I saw Soonduboo(silken tofu soup) on the menu. They also specialize in bibimbap(earthstone korean rice with veggies and meat). On this day, my family shared one regular soondubu, bibimchae(bibimbap without rice), and grilled cheese for the the kiddos. Soondubu($ 9) came out in a earthware pot bubbling with a side of raw egg you can add. The flavor was delicious and very surprised at the amount of tofu in the dish. My very picky kids gobbled up the bowl and asked for seconds. Bibimchae($ 9) came out in a huge bowl with various vegetables on top of bed of lettuce. It was refreshing yet warm from the stir fry veggies and side of hot pepper sauce that adds a nice spice kick to the dish. Grill cheese sandwich($ 4) was kid approved and the fries that it came with was non greasy but super crunchy. Overall, very nice dinner and want to come back to try the spicy squid stir fry. Also want to add that the owners/staff were super friendly.

Big Joy is a Korean café. They serve mostly Korean food. They offer a ton of authentic Korean items. They also have the fusion Korean-Mexican stuff that’s popular these days like Burritos and Tacos. They are set up Chipotle style. You can pick Bibim bowls or Burritos. You pick your meat, veggies, garnishes, and sauces. But instead of them making it in front of you, they write it down and send it to the kitchen. I don’t see the point of making us go through the stations like in Chipotle if all she does is write it down on a piece of paper. The process feels overwhelming. Even as a Korean, I was not sure what i should put on my burrito. There were so many choices and so many rules(only 3 for burritos but up to 5 for bibimbap). For non-Koreans, it would probably be more confusing. Anyway, I got the beef burrito with kimchi, bean sprouts and spinach. The beef was actually bulgogi. The burrito came out open faced so you couldn’t really grab it and eat it like an actual burrito. I had to get a fork to eat it. I liked my burrito. The flavors were good and everything tasted fresh. But if I had to choose again, I would probably try the bibimbap next time. They also have assortments of authentic Korean food from Sun Dubu, ddeokbokki, dumplings, and others. They just have photos of those but no prices. It was confusing too since I thought they were decorations at first and not actual menu items I could order. I liked this place. They play K-Pop on a tv. I liked the food and the atmosphere.

I was craving some korean food and this was the closest place I could find. This rating is solely based on what I ate. I still plan on coming back to try out their other stuff. The staff is very friendly and really helpful if you don’t really know what you want. They play korean music, just slightly louder than background, ambient. This place is more like a korean fusion. They have their typical Korean dishes, but they also have items like Korean burritos and Korean tacos. In addition to their main menu, they have more items taped to their wall that you can’t find on their website or take out menu. I was craving jjigae so I ordered their soondubu jjigae. They also have seafood jjigae. The jjigae came out fresh and hot. They serve it with a raw egg, which you crack and mix in yourself, and your choice of brown or white rice. I asked for medium spicy, and it’s not as spicy as I expected it to be. I usually get mild because I have a bad tolerance to spicy food and even I could handle it easily! Overall, it was just okay. It’s definitely not the same quality you can get in duluth, but it was good enough to satisfy my korean craving. Everyone has been recommending the bibimbop, which I may try next time. My friend ordered it and he loved it, but then again, he hadn’t eaten in over 20 hours so he was pretty hungry. They give you 1 protein and 5 vegetables to throw in your bibimbop. You can get it in a bowl or in a clay pot, which is definitely better. They do have lunch specials so it is cheaper if you come in then. Regardless, their food is cheap, under $ 10. I’ll be back for sure to try other things on their menu, especially their tacos. Side note: 5 bucks for boba is a little ridiculous. But I guess it’s smart since you can’t get boba anywhere else in this area.

This restaurant is in a shopping center on Delk Road across from the Brunswick bowling alley/Delkwood grill area, just west of the intersection of Delk with Powers Ferry Road. I’d characterize this place as «Korean Fusion,» and it’s laid out like a Chipotle, where you pick an item from the menu and then move down the line, selecting your rice, meat, vegetables, and sauces. You pay at the end, and they’ll bring out your food to you a few minutes later. You can choose from Bibimbap(rice bowl with meat and vegetables, see pronunciation below), tacos, burritos… lots of other options on the wall, too. Bubble tea, if that’s your cup of – nah, not gonna do it. Don’t expect this to be a sit-down Korean BBQ place. But here’s the bottom line — I found the flavors addictingly good, and I’ve been back several times since my first encounter because of it.(It’s now in our lunch rotation with Chipotle, Subway, Panera — it’s that sort of «lunch spot» we’re talking about here.) The sauces are the fun part. I find a mixture of the hot sauce and«house sauce» to be the best, but others in my group preferred the mild. Squirt some in the plastic cups and try ‘em all out! I loved the cold cucumber kimchi(big fan of kimchi here), and the warm kimchi was good, too. They have $ 1.50 tacos on Wednesdays, and Bibimbap lunch specials. BTW, if you(like me) had no idea where the emphasis should be in the word Bibimbap, here’s my best attempt at a pronunciation guide: bee-BIM-bahp. Now say it fast.(A pleasant male employee that I assume to be an owner has come out to check on us every time we’ve visited and was nice enough to humor my pronunciation inquiry.)

This food is good and reasonable, with great service. I will add this place to my come back list. I tried the already cooked Bo Bim bob, however I will try the stone bowl dish next time I come, the person the works there said that it is one of there best dishes. But all in all its good, healthy eating.

This place reminds me a lot of a fast food Korean restaurant that I lived off of for the better part of college. While it’s definitely no So Kong Dong, the food is quick and fresh and tasty. We came here because my mom bought a Groupon. I havent eaten in this area in quite a while but I think it’s a good addition. I had the soondubu(hot tofu soup) with pork which came with tons of tofu and of course a raw egg. I only asked for medium spicy which normally does it on Buford Highway, but I would definitely ask for very spicy the next time I go in. My mom got the bimbimbap hot pot which they give you tons of options on(rice type, sauce type, meat type). She got teriyaki which I argued barely makes it qualify bimbimbap, so I got the chili paste sauce on the side since I knew I would be eating her leftovers. We also shared a Korean pancake which they added seafood to for me and I ended up taking most of it home and eating it for breakfast everything was good! We also got a Mango bubble tea with passion fruit boba. The tea was the more milky juice kind, which is good in its own right, and the passion fruit boba was really interesting. Instead of being solid tapioca balls(which they also offered) they were more like literal bubbles with a membrane outside and juice inside. They were super good with the Mango tea. The drink as a whole was very refreshing. One of the things I noticed the most was how everyone else in the restaurant seemed to go there all the time and know the people that worked there. Everyone was super friendly and it was a nice casual place to eat!

Big Joy — Fresh Grill Bar opened January 2013 on the stretch of Delk Rd. in between I-75 and Powers Ferry Rd. It’s in a small shopping center across the street from Delkwood Grill and next to the big laser tag and whirlyball place, Mad Mad Whirled. Thanks to two big storefront signs that say«Big Joy» in green and white colors, the restaurant isn’t hard to spot from the road. Big Joy is Korean owned and operated. Their bibimbap(Korean mixed rice bowls with meat and vegetables) and Korean bulgogi(Korean grilled marinated beef) tacos are among their most popular items. This isn’t a truly authentic Korean restaurant. It’s more of an Americanized fusion-type eatery where you go down an ordering line, picking out the ingredients for your dish. This restaurant reminds me of the café inside my office building except bigger and better, mainly in terms of selection and taste. Like Big Joy, our café is run by Korean ladies who serve bibimbap too. Big Joy is a casual place and kind of small. The interior has table seating for 25 – 30 customers max. There are two TVs mounted to the ceiling, one of which plays K-pop(Korean pop) music videos. The main menu is located behind the ordering line, Chipotle-style. It’s divided into 5 «steps:»(1) food type(e.g. bibimbap, taco, burrito),(2) rice(white, brown, sticky),(3) protein(e.g. steak, chicken, pork),(4) vegetables, and(5) sauces/dressings. The ingredients are laid out behind glass like a cafeteria line. Many of the ingredients are fresh and/or raw. They’re loaded up onto plates and cooked in the kitchen to order. I really like the healthy options such as the brown rice and various veggies. The items on the ordering line aren’t the only foods offered. Scattered about the line and adjacent wall are pictures of other foods and drinks available. These include wings, quesadillas, fried fish, Korean stews, bubble tea, and even key lime pie. It seems like a somewhat random and disorganized assortment of stuff. I would stick to the bibimbap and tacos. A bibimbap bowl with one protein is about $ 8 at dinner and about $ 7 at lunchtime. You can choose up to five veggies for your bibimbap. Tacos are $ 2.25 each except for Wednesdays when they are only 99 cents. The meats are flavorful(my favorite is the marinated pork) and the veggies are indeed fresh. Sauce is served on the side and may not be needed depending on how much marinade is on your meat selection. Presentation could be better. For the most authentic and best bibimbap experience, order the«stone bowl bibimbap»($ 9.99). In this case, the bibimbap is served still crackling inside a traditional Korean black bowl. Not sure if this black bowl is truly made out of stone. It’s the same one Korean tofu houses serve sundubu jjigae(tofu soup) in as opposed to the more«stone-looking» bowls places like Woo Nam Jeong Stone Bowl House(Buford Highway) serve their stone bowl bibimbaps in. Regardless, you get the same effect with crispy, charred rice along the outer edges and a fried egg on top to boot. They serve bubble tea and smoothies here. At $ 4.99 a pop, they are expensive. In comparison, you can get bubble tea on Buford Highway at or less than $ 3.00 each. However, Big Joy is one of the few places in Cobb County where you can find bubble tea. Bubble tea is a Taiwanese tea beverage, usually mixed with milk, that contains sweet tapioca pearls(the«bubbles») at the bottom. The drinks come with extra wide straws to accommodate the pearls’ size. One time, I tried to order a taro bubble tea. The folks ahead of me got the last bubbles, so I didn’t get to try any. When my taro bubble-less tea order came out, it wasn’t tea, but a smoothie. Miscommunication? The drink was OK. It was super sweet. A little too sweet for me. Service is excellent. The employees are enthusiastic and polite, particularly Sylvia, the owner. She is friendly. In the end, Big Joy — Fresh Grill Bar is not a bad option if you’re looking for a simple, healthy, and affordable meal with a Korean twist.
