I was up in Marblehead a couple of weeks ago visiting my daughter and her family who had just moved to Swampscott. Having lived in Maine for 6 years(now live in VA) I was really missing cold water lobsters! So I contacted Mike at Marblehead lobster and bought 4 steamed lobsters to have with my daughter that night and bought an additional 5 live lobsters to bring back to VA with me by car the next day. Mike was terrific. He packed up the live lobsters in a cooler w ice packs and they arrived in VA24 hrs later with no problem! Would highly recommend Marblehead Lobster and my daughter will now be a regular customer!

We had a late lunch here on a chilly afternoon. The bar seemed to be pretty active but just a few tables were occupied as the peak time had passed. We both had the lobster rolls and the fact that the water and boats were right outside the window only added to the freshness of the food and the ambiance. The staff was friendly and it was a good and casual lunch for the wife and I. We followed up lunch with a nice stroll in downtown Marblehead.

Great place for seafood! Nice selection of lobsters at various sizes, and as others have said they will steam them for $ 0.50 each(would use at least that in gas or electric at home)! Just return the styrofoam next day. Great steamers too. I especially like their selection of locally caught fish. The Grey Sole is fantastic. Prices are very reasonable and the staff, though mostly young, are knowledgeable, efficient and very courteous! Rare enough these days it seems. Highly recommend this place!

Delicious fresh food as always. Great staff. They were open and ready with my order on Mother’s Day which worked out perfectly! Whole lobster and meat were both steamed perfectly. Thanks for making the day easier & tastier for us.

Our go to place for seafood when cooking at home! Our favorites are the swordfish, the lobsters, the baked stuffed clams.

this place is great… good fish chowder, local scallops to die for, seriously fresh fish. if you don’t see it, just ask… they can get anything. we love their mussels, and they’re so cheap… great for a crowd… we order them every week all summer. delicious fresh cooked lobster tails for salads. and service? had a party and mike delivered over a dozen lobsters piping hot… all i had to do was serve! another surprise… they must have a farmer friend… cause all summer they have the best corn and asparagus… yummy!

they sell fresh lobster — or so they claim — from the water behind the store. the lobsters are fresh(aren’t they all?), but the other foods are fresh too, like scallops and oysters. they will teach you how to open an oyster, which is now easy. –1 star for crappy boulibase. there was seafood, but the broth was bland. –1 star for supporting too many politicians in the window, who give them signed letters –1 star for not being really good value, just good value [I can update and add: –1 star for crappy lobster ravioli, both expensive and meh] [I can update and add: +1 for chowder fish. this is, at $ 3/lb, a great deal. it’s frozen cod or similar. can’t beat that, fries up mushy and chowder’s up mushy, but its for chowder, –1 for oysters that are not always fresh. maybe I don’t know how to clean ‘em, but sometimes the oysters are great, and sometimes more meh to Eek] we go back ps. when you serve your oysters, put them on ice, they taste better pps they will give you ice

Wow, this is the place to get seriously fresh seafood. You know how good seafood is supposed to smell like the sea and not smell fishy at all? I didn’t truly know what that meant until I bought shrimp and scallops from Marblehead Lobster Co. The store is almost too good to be true; they are located feet from the ocean, and the prices are great. They even cleaned my shrimp for no extra charge. I’ll be going back on a regular basis!

I love this place. It’s hard to fine unless you live around here, but definitely worth asking for directions. Mike the owner will cook your lobsters for you(I think he charges all of an additional 50 cents per lobster which ridiculously cheap). They’ll stay hot in these sterofoam cantainers he loans to you for up to an hour. No messing around in the kitchen just pick them up, take them home and crack them open. He also has a system for picking up orders after hours. He’ll take an order over the phone pay with a credit card, then he leaves it in a locked cooler right outside the store. Yes, combo is changed each day. It’s my spot for fresh fish, and great service

Simply the best. I Whenever I come to Marblehead, I always try to drop by. It is a simple business: there are lobsters in tanks and you buy them. Prices are reasonable and they will do a fantastic job packing them up, even if, like me, you are flying to the west coast next day. My family on the west coast always considers it a wonderful treat when I steam up these beauties. They also carry a nice assortment of fish, shellfish and soups.
