Cohen Hillel Academy

When my 2^nd grader was in kindergarten, we made the decision to transfer her after Thanksgiving break from the great public school in our town to Cohen Hillel Academy. Three and half years later, we know this is the best decision we could have made for her and for our family. Our second daughter is in 1^st grade and we could not have been happier. Knowing that they LOVE going to school every day is only one of many reasons why we send them there. The quality of the teachers and education is excellent and we love the Jewish values and the Hebrew language that they learn every day.

My son is in first grade at Cohen Hillel and I cannot say enough about the school. The secular education is top notch, including a constantly updated reading and math curriculum, coding, science, robotics, and more. The children get all of that plus much attention paid to how to be a good person and a responsible member of the community. Then add Hebrew and Jewish studies (my first grader can read Hebrew already)! As a family, we have so greatly benefited from the 1:1 attention from the teachers and the community of other families of which we are now a part. We are thrilled!

Hillel is a wonderful school. I am still involved so many years after my children graduated because the mission is so compelling and the adult volunteers are so dedicated and generous, the teachers just love teaching, and the best part: the children are happy, they are learning with confidence, and they are aware and compassionate about their world, their families, and their community. My children came home every day starting in 4^th grade and got right to work, organizing their backpacks and notebooks, taking responsibility for their homework, and (almost always) were comfortable doing it. By 7^th and 8^th grade they were using phrases like «time management» and planning their academic obligations on a calendar. And then, when they went off to public high school, the exact same behaviors continued! My friends and family all asked how we did it, and the answer was easy: Hillel!
