This place is NASTY! Fried Chicken that is burned and you could squeeze the oil out of it(the kitchen manager said that it was just made) HA. Never had a server come to our table to take away empty dishes. All the food was old and almost inedible. The peas on the salad bar were good(hard to mess up frozen peas though) Managers have a I don’t give a S**^ attitude. There are a lot more choices to eat in this area and I would recommend NOT going to this place.

This place used to be one of my favorite places to eat– my family and I often chose it for special occasions. It has gone downhill fast. The restaurant itself has barely been upgraded in the past 20 years. The carpet might be this decade but that’s about it. The food variety has gotten a little better(the taco bar was good one of the times I went) and you can now get about 800 different flavors of soft drink– but it’ll cost you $ 2.50 per person. The food quality has taken a dive. Things just don’t taste fresh. Very school cafeteria-like. Fit for a hungry, less-fortunate member of society but not one who is willing to pay $ 12(+drink=$ 14.50) They added a game room but they are overpriced and they’re the prize-giving type only(the ones parents spend $ 20 on to win a $ 2 stuffed animal for their kid) Last but NOT least– all but one of the employees I have seen there seem disgruntled, indifferent(except for ONE nice man clearing tables– his name is Kester? or Hester?) and one woman in particular was downright rude. She held a conversation with her employee/friend the entire time we were paying and every question we asked was answered with an attitude. We couldn’t have felt less welcomed. I don’t think she even looked at us until after we had paid and were waking into the restaurant. I admit I gave her a not-so-friendly look as a response and the $ 1,000 fraudulent CREDITCARD charge we received the next day may or may not have been her way of getting«payback» for my doing so. So if you are still willing to throw caution to the wind and choose to eat here– PAYINCASH.

I made the huge mistake of going there on «Kids Eat Free Thursdays». Beware. What a bad idea. They have music blaring and constant chatter by a DJ that gets very annoying. I’m not sure how many times I heard ‘come and get your cotton candy’. Please. There should be a warning at the door on Thursdays that it’s kids night and for all the sillyness one will endure during dinner. The price for adults doesn’t include beverage which is a little silly when beverages are the cheapest things on the restaurant side. The food is not that special. I used to like it a lot more but it’s gone downhill in recent years. I’ve been a customer off and on since it opens ages ago. Not worth the price.

The Lettuce was black, wilting and Slimy; the toppings look like they were refrigerated without covers all dried and slimy. The taco toppings were slimy, the onions looked like they were a week old soggy and transparent. The salsa had some kind of crust forming on it. The beans were dried up and crusty. The hot bar food was not fresh; the mashed potatoes were the only thing I was able to eat comfortably. The Pulled pork had been sitting under a hot lamp so long that the sauce was dried up and looked like shoe leather. The Ice was empty and the milk was out and the glasses need to be replaced they do not look clean anymore. I could go on but I think you get the point. We went back to try it after seeing the commercials with CEO saying we have changed. The change was in the look. The food quality is sub-par at best. The best thing we had there was the chocolate chip cookie.

Good food reasonable prices, but I think it is silly they don’t offer baked potatoes for dinner. Why stop serving them by 3:30!

Food was decent. I expected much better though. The bad part was the employees standing around gossiping like a bunch of clowns! 1 was sitting in a booth in front of me, one was pretending g to work the counter and one was a «waitress» at a buffet… Right…

I’ve been here for all my life and it isn’t that good. One it’s well known because of the décor, particular pieces of food, and meat. The service is ok but most of the time the new people are bad, takes a while for dishes to get picked up and a lot of talking for the employees. The employees would talk about fighting drinking and other things not related to work. But the people who have been works here for a while have always been nice and good employees. But the food is not that good and it’s just ordinary Caucasian food. But one cool thing is the drinking dispenser a lot of drinks and etc. this good once in a while but not everytime.

dirty, had sticky tables, they need to hire more food prep or servers because there is almost no food every time I go back up, I’m always waiting or grabbing the last of whatever is left, I mean it’s nice that you see managers out working the floor and greeting but when it comes to dealing with inappropriate or rude people they ignore it or do not handle it properly. For example, a family was holding a spot for their family and when the family got three, the lady behind got mad and cut in front of the family and when they asked what she’s doing, she started to cuss and cause a scene(Maplewood has become ghetto, we don’t even go to Maplewood mall anymore) but it turned into a black/white race thing. The manager did not handle the situation at all. My family and I just continued to eat the sub par food(I had some steak and couldn’t even enjoy it because there were no sause left at the sauce center, I guess everyone needs their own bottle) while sitting at sticky table, a high chair without a seatbelt and the poor display of food that was already cold. So if what do you think they mean in the commercial when they say if you aren’t satisfied, we’ll make it right? I used to like it but since the change, I would not go back even if it were for free.

I have eaten here for dinner a few times and its usually hit or miss. Today I had lunch there. It was LOUSY!!! You could tell that most of the food was left over from the night before. The orange chicken was slimy and spungy! The meat loaf was dried out and old tasting. The bbq sausage was cold. All the salads were terribly runny. No chicken pot pies out the whole time I was there. I think the CEO needs to spend less time on tv and help get their heads out of their butts!

Maplewood OCB is good but the Roseville one is better, food, service and atmosphere. Decent breakfast and lunch prices compared to entrees at other restaurants.

True or False: There are more mullets per square inch here than anywhere else in Maplewood. If you said false, you are WRONG. If you said true, you are right and win a bowl of Old Country Buffet chocolate pudding. My fiancé and I are in our late 20’s, which means that we don’t drink nearly as often as we used to and when we do, it usually consists of two or three beers, followed immediately by falling asleep on the couch. But it also means that sometimes we still get the urge to go all out and pretend like we can still hang with slightly younger 20-somethings. Fortunately for our old bones, this doesn’t happen too often, but when it does, the next day is extremely painful. About a month or so ago, we went a bit overboard and spent the entire next day feeling poorly. Shortly before sundown, we finally decided to venture out in search of hangover food. We also had an errand to run that put us near this particular Old Country Buffet. So as soon as we drove past, he started begging, «Oh please, oh please, oh please, let’s go!» The food was kinda weird, obviously. The décor was outdated, but I remember coming here in the 80’s when this location was new and not a lot has changed since then. I’m also pretty sure my cholesterol went up at least 3 points just by walking in the door, but the hangover was finally at that manageable level by the time we left. And not only that, but I saw so many mullets that I’m surprised I didn’t give myself whiplash with all the mulletesque people watching. Always, always exciting. I also got to have 2 desserts and the salad bar at OCB is pretty good(although I avoid the Baco Bits – they give me the willies). The fried foods they serve here have already moved into stage one of the congealing process so they should be avoided. But anything that can be doused in butter: potatoes, dinner rolls, etc. is quite good. And the taco bar is also fairly addicting in a weird way that probably has something to do with the Minnesota fascination with hot dish.
