Went there for the sushi. Had a reservation but apparently something wasn’t right with it. Shouldn’t have been our issue but the guy there made us feel uncomfortable and made the Maître d get noticeably upset. Ordered a couple of appetizers. one being the special, rock shrimp(the sauce was overly sweet) the micro cilantro added something nice but it was clumped on and hard to get it with each bite. the veggie shumai was just ok. Waiter started out attentive but that waned. sashimi plate was nice but nothing out of the ordinary, spicy combo was ok too. we ended up sitting an talking over a nice carafe of sake but the maitre d came over and made us feel unwelcome. bottom line. we won’t be going back unless we have to, we’ll go someone where else where we feel welcome and apps & sushi are as good or better.

It’s been about a year since my last visit to this restaurant. Location in a «very blue-collar» shopping center(not that there’s anything wrong with that) but once you walk into the lobby, you are whisked away to a very classy place. Since Yokohama is in the center of the strip center, there’s plenty of parking spaces; just watch out for the blue-haired ladies with their shopping carts coming out of the Acme as you pull into the center from Lenola Street. Anyway, the restaurant is still one of my favorites, still very crowded, and we still had to wait 15 minutes for our table(even with reservations). Once we were seated, service was very good, menu varied, and prices decent. We both ordered a sushi roll as an appetizer and a teriyaki dinner, which includes miso soup and rice(brown or white). I also ordered a glass of plum wine(a Japanese favorite), which was only $ 6 and very good. Only reason for taking away one star was the setup in the lobby. Crowds just standing all around and hard to get to front desk to check in with host/hostess to let them know we have arrived and had a reservation. Maybe they need to hand out those restaurant pagers, so people can step away from the podium. Make sure you try out the Hibachi side of the restaurant if you have kids, they would enjoy the show more than the food.

Pro: Good sushi to be had! I’m a fan sushi when you can really appreciate how fresh the fish is, and Yokohama did not disappoint! The product gave me the impression that it was freshly filleted rather than frozen for an overextended period of time. And that’s a good thing! Nobody likes«Clearance Rack Sushi», right?!? Favorites include the Sunomono Salad, Shishito Peppers, New Island Spicy Roll, Green Jade Roll, and Beauty & the Beast Roll. Great ambiance in the sushi bar as well! Con: The strip mall location may be a turn-off for some. Bottom Line: I’m a fan of their sushi, and will return to try the hibachi!

Family favorite for birthday and special occasions for hibachi and sushi… and an occasional lunch. We’ve been going for years and have sent many folks there, who were also happy. They aim to please, are always pleasant and we haven’t had a sub-par meal yet. Especially love the embarrassing gong for birthdays… especially since we have 3 older teens now! lol Only downside is sushi is smaller now and they are not cheap… but we’re not interested in ‘cheap’ sushi anyway, just really good sushi and food! :) Large selection of sushi, hibachi is always great(get a rez for hibachi) and a cute little bar too. Don’t let the strip mall scare you… its great!

I can’t even handle how great everything was! First time I’ve been super impressed since I moved here 2 years ago. Definitely a gem. Sangria is fantastic too!

I feel like the best hibachi spots are located in the middle of a strip mall. At least that has been my experience. Strip mall hibachi is golden and Yokohama excels all expectations. My fiancée and I are trying to venture out and try more restaurants in our area that are not Italian. Yokohama popped up on our radar thanks to other Unilocalers and we were not disappointed. We came here twice within one week it was so good. The staff was extremely nice and prompt with our orders. The specialty drinks were amazing. We got martinis and mojitos and both were great. Strong yet tasteful. We both got the combination hibachi, steak and shrimp. So flavorful! I mean, its very difficult to mess up hibachi but this was so good. well cooked, tasty, and huge portions. The chef also put on a great show and the other servers were on top of our refills and anything we have needed. This spot may be my favorite hibachi restaurant thanks to the great service, food, and ambiance.

Finally got the opportunity to go here because of a spontaneous gift card I received. Sat at a hibachi table and brought my 12 yr old daughter with us to share in the experience because she’s never been. Hibachi meat(steak and shrimp) cooked to perfection and there was a bounty of veggies and rice. The hibachi chef was very entertaining and interacted with us well. Had some rolls –a California roll and the beautiful roll(delish)! Will definitely be back just for sushi. It was so fresh and well prepared. Had reservations and was seated right away on a Saturday night. Been to Benihana before and I think this place is on that level or slightly above. Will def be back again.

Surprisingly good sushi for Maple Shade, NJ. I’ve been many times and haven’t been let down at all. It has the feel of a lunch place so I haven’t ever considered it for dinner. Mainly because it’s in a strip mall. But this place has great service every day and a lot of good rolls to boot. If you’re in the area, check this place out.

Maybe my expectation was too high, but I don’t think I’ll be returning to this place for sushi or sashimi. I ordered the Chirashi entrée, the chef’s choice of fish for my 18 or 19 piece fish included 2 pieces of the artificial crab meat, and 2 pieces of tamago. Not only were they 2 pieces, the artifical crab meat and tamago were cut in half essential making it 1 piece of artifical crab meat. The other pieces of fish were sliced to thin, my husband joked«I can see you through it.» We ordered rolls as well and these were much better. We got the sweetly, bonsai, and yellow tail and scallion rolls. The rolls were pretty sumptuous. They had nice big slices of fish you can taste and not overwhelmed with sauces so you could still taste the fish. The rolls saved this review, if I was rating just the sushi/sashimi/chirashi it would have been two stars.

Wow what a gem! I came for lunch on a Saturday and it’s perfect here. Top quality Japanese food and flavor. Great portions at a very reasonable price. I would love to come back for a real hibachi show! It’s nicely renovated and service is wonderful.

Returned to Yokohama with another date and was just as satisfied with the experience as the last time. The strip mall landscape was even less appealing in the daylight saved light, but the inside of the restaurant was still as beautiful as before. This time it was very busy, but there was still no wait for a table. The staff is extremely professional and courteous. Over the one and a half hour dining experience, my water glass never went empty and was filled at least 10 times. At the beginning of the experience, we were asked if we could move our table to make room for a larger party, which was no problem as we didn’t even order. They still brought out an appetizer of dumplings on the house to apologize for the nonexistent inconvenience. I ordered three rolls of the mouth watering eel avacado and one roll of the raw tuna. My date, having sushi for her first time, ordered a California roll and a salmon roll. With the free roll deal for checking in on Unilocal, the bill came to 27 dollars with tax for the 6 rolls(and dumplings on the house). Best Japanese dining experience around!

Excellent! Never knew this was here. Very clean inside. Helpful wait staff as far as explaining the menu, getting us seated, and getting drinks to us. Kirin Ichiban on draft, what?! OHYEAH! We ordered a TON of sushi and it was awesome(see picture) left 5 individual pieces haha soooo full. The hot girl roll and the double spicy rolls were our 2 favorite. My personal favorite is always the salmon roe sashimi… now if you don’t like salmon stay away. But if you like salmon get this… Or the white tuna sashimi. Loved the wasabi shumai app and the umani(I think it’s called) mushroom soup as an app as well. Yellow tail jalapeño, edamame, and gyoza dumplings were other apps that were pretty solid as well. We will definitely be back. We usually go closer to home but this place is worth the trip! They also have a hibachi side if you’re not into sushi. Give it a try.

Yokohama is a really nice place for lunch in the Moorestown area. The restaurant has a very cool Japonese atmosphere and the service was quite good and our food came out pretty quickly. We had the the Tempura lunch box and Salmon Teriyaki lunch box. These both were served with Miso soup, salad, and rice. The Tempura had two shrimps and some other vegetables. The bento box had the usual items, California roll and steamed dumplings. The salmon was good also, tasted fresh and was cooked correctly. The two bento boxes were $ 21.29 with tax. Not inexpensive, but not outrageous either, especially for the quality of food we received.

I feel bad that it’s taking me so long to write a review, but there’s no time like the present! I have been going to Yokohama since they first opened. I have seen them from the very beginning, and the beautiful transformation of the interior of the building. They have only gotten better. The staff, has always remained the same. That is to say super kind, fantastic at their jobs, and truly the gold standard of the industry. I really mean it, the staff is fantastic, the owners are fantastic. So on to the food! Whether you dine in or get take out the quality is always spot on. I’m pretty sure I’ve never had a single bad thing from here! And the bartenders are fantastic, there sangria both red and white are delicious. I have to share a funny story, i sat at the bar once and I ordered an eel avocado roll, they misunderstood me and brought me something else. It was a peanut avocado roll. It might have been the single best culinary mistake of my entire life. Try it, I think you will probably agree that it might be one of the most delicious rolls. Definitely try their bubble tea too! I could name at least 20 things to try… all amazing. Trust the specials or recommendations! I’ve been to sushi restaurants in South Africa, and in England as well as well as all over the United States. I’m a frequent sushi buffets just to get a fix, but you need to trust me, in all of my travels Yokohama is the absolute best Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been to. They just have it right. Even if you don’t think they’re the best, you’ll still love it!

Gluten free soy sauce available upon request. The server was very knowledgeable about the ingredients of the food and happily altered a few things for us. We bought a Lover’s Sushi Boat and ended up getting 2 carafes of warm sake because it there was a special on it. We will be back!
