On my wedding day, my ceremony was perfect. Kara helped guide the wedding party along and signaled when to walk out. We worked with Kara regarding how we envisioned our ceremony as well as all the details of the day including the schedule, table cloth colors, h’ordeuvre selections, etc. We were even able to drop off wedding accessories for her to place at the venue which was very convenient. The wedding ceremony was everything I had pictured in my head and there is not one thing I would change. It was after the ceremony that we noticed several things that fell to the wayside. And in the end, as a catering company, responsible for food and food service, they definitely fell short. I really don’t think they were prepared for the 200 plus guests, as the service staff was clearly understaffed. — Cocktail Hour: forgot to scatter chairs throughout the cocktail reception area, despite previous discussions and plans. With 200 guests, it was very important that people had somewhere to sit. — Table Numbers: placed incorrectly and a grooms side and a brides side table were on opposite ends of the room. –Centerpieces: forgot to turn on the battery-operated tea lights on each table before dinner started. We opted for non-floral centerpieces and the light was key. Such an obvious detail overlooked. — Food and food service: serious lag time between tables getting their food. Sea bass was ok, but filet mignon as our dinner entrée was too dry and nothing close to the tasting we had. — Wedding Cake: One table told me they waited for a half hour as the cake was place on empty seats and in the end, cake didn’t even get to her table. It was clear that the cake was not really served to all of the tables because we ended up with three complete tiers of cake leftover. My cousin had asked if she could take a slice home and was told no, even though there was plenty of cake. Lastly, at the end of the reception, I had asked about collecting some printouts that were placed on some of the tables, but most had already been thrown out. One of the staff members then condescendingly exclaimed if I wanted her to dig them out of the garbage. Emily, the maître d, apologized for her but I could have went without the rudeness on my wedding day. I do appreciate all the effort Cory and Kara assisted with in the planning of our special day. They were very responsive. They’ll get back to you super quick and answer any questions you have. But what good is planning if the execution falls short? We chose Sensational Hosts because of the variety of food they offered and also the price point. Cory outlined all the costs and was able to create a package that we could afford, with more than enough food. Just be aware that costs of rentals can add up like the chairs for the outdoor ceremony, cocktail tables which ranged from about $ 25-$ 31 per table(w/table cloth/sash), as well as sweetheart table/cake table($ 12). There is so much pressure to make your wedding day as perfect as possible. And with our DIY wedding, we were involved in every detail. I know things happen, but a little more care could have gone a long way and we are really disappointed and surprised by the execution of their services.
