Frankie’s Pizza

Being from Chicago, I have missed my hometown pizza for a while. This is right there! We’ve never been disappointed. Even though twice we had a small issue with our order when delivered, they’ve made it right. … Once they forgot a piece of cheesecake, and they sent the driver straight out with it. The other time they slightly missed the order, they offered to fix it then or send a coupon for a free pasta dish. … It’s the attention to the customer that makes the difference in my review.

I will never eat at this establishment again. A friend and I were visiting family in Maple Grove area this past weekend and went to Frankies during our stay. Both of us being from other states, when we ordered a drink our drivers license wouldn’t scan through their system for whatever reason. My friend and I then provided them with 2 additional forms of identification and the managers response was «I’ll let it slide this time.» If we weren’t already irritated enough, when our food was brought to the table the manager made another special point to tell us that next time we came in we wouldn’t be served due to our more than likely fake ID’s. I questioned why a government issued ID would not scan through their system and he once again responded that «fake ID’s won’t work.» If it wasn’t for my pride I would have stormed out right then and there. So Frankies, either update your system or inform your dumb ass manager on the difference between a real and fake ID. Oh, side note– they refused my free drink with a check in on Unilocal as well.

The pizza itself was really great. If your plan is to order the pizza, and not deviate from the description on the menu, you will love it. I’ve ordered Frankie’s delivered a couple times now, and if you order wings with it, prepare to be disappointed. They’re pretty fast and loose with the «buffalo style» description, and I wouldn’t call them hot at all. We’ve had them delivered with our pizza twice, were disappointed twice, and we also didn’t get the ranch and blue cheese that’s supposed to come with it either time. Our pizza also did not have the extra toppings we requested, either time. The pizza was great, but maybe stick to dining in. Or roll the dice with a delivery order…

I ordered awhile ago but didn’t do my review. I had a Groupon and ordered their stuffed pizza and had a slice of hazelnut cheese cake. The pizza was really good! The sauce wad good. I would definitely order from here again! The cheese cake was good but a little too sweet for me but still good.

New seating inside makes this a fun place to stop in for slices of pizza or fresh grilled sandwiches. The beef knickerbocker is a favorite. I love the pasta salad, a lot of tangy flavor. The pizza is really good with all kinds of crust either thin or deep dish can’t go wrong. They are home made and you can tell they use really high quality ingredients. Lots of toppings. Great real cheeses. The wings are baked really well.

Great food, always great tasting whenever I go there or have delivered. Looks like friendly place to work.

We live in Maple Grove and we always order from Frankies pizza! Best pizza restaurant in town!

This is the second time we have eaten here. The pepperoni and green olive pizza is my favorite.

Not a place to get quick service on a simple Chicago dog. 9 people behind the counter and it still takes them 20 minutes to make a simple Chicago Dog.

Only had the thin crust pizza and cheesey bread so I can’t speak for anything else, but I still think this is the best pizza place in Maple Grove. Flavorful, but not too greasy. Doesn’t skimp on toppings like some other places. Dining area is very small so I prefer it as take out.

Ordered deep dish pizza and most of it went to waste. Not good at all. Any pizza you can make at home is better.

Environment — great. Service — great. Food that we happened to order — ok.
We ordered the chicken Caesar salad, thin crust Buffalo Chicken pizza, and pan Spinach Soufflé. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items as this was our first time here, but we were disappointed by the lack of flavor in everything (yes, even the Buffalo chicken).
The next time we’re craving pizza, we’d probably pick a different place first. At the same time, we also thought we should give Frankies the benefit of the doubt and try some of their other menu items, like their pastas or bbq dishes.

Had a great pizza, we ordered the deep dish. I really liked the crust and the sauce very authentic chicago. We were a liitle disappointed in the amount of sausage and pepperoni.
It was a neat little joint very nice décor, I was a liitle concerned the girls in back didn’t have something for all the long hair. We aldo ordered some pasta to go, can’t wait for lunch tomorrow.

We order here for the Chicago-​style stuffed. That pizza is flippin’ awesome — 5 stars.
The rest is what I would consider «good.» And the regular Chicago style doesn’t hold a candle to the stuffed. Just get the Chicago-​style stuffed. Period. End of story.

I can only review the pan pizza I tried, but it was supremely «eh». It came out hot and fresh with stringy mozzarella. However, the flavor ended there. The sauce didn’t taste like much and it was very thin. It didn’t hold up against the sheer amount of bread on the pizzas.
We also tried the buffalo wings. They were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, but the flavor was missing. They could use a good marinade in the buffalo sauce before getting fried.
The place is pretty small, so it seemed like most people took their meals to go.
It was worth the Groupon, but I probably wouldn’t go without one.

Best Chicago Styled Stuffed Pizza outside of Chicago!
I’m from Chicago and miss places like Giordano’s, UNO, and Lou Mals. Out of all the pizza places I’ve tried in MN, the stuffed pizza here comes the closest to Chicago style stuffed pizza.
The pizza itself on the other hand, is not the greatest when comparing it to stuff back home, but since it’s my only option and comes fairly close to it, it gets 5 stars.
If you love Chicago stuffed pizza, it’s definitely worth a try.

I have to say, we started ordering the pan pizza and it is always cooked to perfection. We will never order the thin again, but are very happy with the pan pizza. I would order the pan here over anywhere else.
