Bamboo Wok

To start this review we have to alert the audience, we are hard graders. Moving to Texas from Southern California left us constantly on the lookout for good Chinese food. We were truly spoiled in Southern California.
Tonight we tried the wonton soup and the Kung Po chicken. The wonton soup looks like broth with soy sauce and frozen wontons. The wontons are thick, heavy and chewy. This is not a do again soup.
The kung Pow chicken is flavorful, but they filled it up with carrots; the steamed rice was good but the portion was very small
Eggrolls are a dollar apiece; good flavor but not very large.
The restaurant is very clean and the employees were very courteous. We’re going to keep trying different things to find out what they are best at.

I don’t normally leave a bad review but I have to this time! I ordered cashew chicken, small egg drop soup, fried wonton. No cashews on my chicken, egg drop soup was cold, so I ended up eating the wontons & a few bites of just chicken. I woke up about 2am sicker than I care to remember !! I’ve been fine until I ate here. NEVER again!!! Service is good always has been but the food no no no !!

Best Chinese food I’ve never tasted. So fresh! They use fresh vegetables and fresh seafood and meat in all their dishes! Everything is made-​to-​order. They also have fresh seafood plates (fried shrimp, catfish, crawfish tails, oySters) YUM! I’m from Louisiana so I’m always used to eating fresh seafood and had a hard time finding an affordable place with fresh seafood so when I came across this restaurant I was very happy. Very happy!
I eat here regularly with my husband and his family. We love the variety they offer. Even their healthy plates are delicious! If you’re looking for good service and great food, look no further because this is the place!!!
Hm, I have a few things to say about the negative comments for this restaurant. One that stood out the most, the person who posted something about the sign. First of all, that has absolutely nothing to do with the restaurant. That’s like complaining about the choking hazard sign, or the wash your hands sign in the bathroom.

Excellent food and great service. Best eggrolls in town. You also have to try the general tso chicken. It was so delicious I died. The employees there so also really friendly and provide excellent customer service. I also like the fact that they deliver as well

I decided last Wednesday I just didn’t want anything in my fridge and a simple sandwich would not do — there are a couple of other takeout options in the area, but I was #1 — craving Chinese #2 — not interested in the other closeby Chinese place and #3 — my daughter wasn’t going to be able to vote on what to get that night because… well, it’s my money, my house, my rules (yea, I’m a great mom!). So, I called the Rosharon # to order only to find out it was ringing over to the Manvel location because Rosharon is closed for two months for vacation.
Huh? I’ve never heard that before and color me totally taken aback! I need a job at the Rosharon location, STAT! I definitely could use a 2 month break…
Anyway, the lady explained that I could order there and pick it up — ummm, no — not in the mood to drive THAT far (hence me calling the Rosharon location) — but she then said they could deliver, even all the way to my subdivision (a whopping 7.2 miles down Hwy 6). BINGO! I rattled off my request, and proceeded to run an errand before going home.
While the delivery did take over an hour (but she warned me it would be a while) the food was awesome! We ate every bite of the orange chicken, house lo mein and egg rolls. This place rocks!
Now, if only I could convince my boss to adopt their vacation plan… WINNING!

I love this place. Left a detailed review on the Rosharon location which I actually meant for this one, however I made that clear. This place will definitely be a lunch & even dinner, regular for me… and my family! Great customer service!

Really like the mini upgrade they made. Great lo mein, And TSO chicken ! Good stop.

Went for take out. Thought I’d try this place. 1^st and last time I’ll go there.
Service was good. Should have reflected the food. Fried egg rolls were not only undone, they weren’t filled enough. Fried rice was greasy and Chicken and Broccoli was all garlic and broccoli.
Going back to my usual place next time.

A small restaurant that put out good Chinese food. I got the grilled shirt with fish and fried rice and it’s was good. The staff was nice and the décor inside the restaurant was traditional Chinese. I would recommend this place

My wife and I recently moved to Alvin and we are scouting places to eat and I love Chinese so I really wanted to like this place. Cheap ingredients and bad food quality made me return my food !! I never send food back but it was not edible and had an odd taste. I ordered beef and it tasted like seafood making me think they are not careful with their cooking habits. What if I had a seafood allergy ?? The sushi was worse than grocery store quality. Products were NOT fresh !! The egg roll and wonton soup were the only things edible. The prices for dinner are far too high and I will never go back.

Wow !! I was so surprised that people gave this place high stars ??? Are you serious ?? This food was terrible. We ordered to go and there were several problems. The salad was hot and no dressing. They forgot our appetizer crab puffs and the serving of rice was hard and cold. Now my chicken tasted like fish and I hate fish and the sauce was so spicy on the garlic chicken I couldn’t eat it. I even told them don’t make anything spicy. Last when I called the lady back to tell her she forgot the crab puffs she argued with me until she realized they were in front of her and then she apologized — This place is not good and I think the only reason anyone likes it is because there is nothing to eat around that area. Horrible horrible horrible food and quality !!!

Always get the spring rolls!

Hubby and I came here for lunch. Cheap, Clean and friendly. Excellent service but mediocre food. Egg drop and wonton soup were bland. General tsos was crunchy but after being told how spicy it normally is and suggesting we have it lighter on spice, was very bland. Cashew chicken tasted like over cooked bourbon chicken. Pan fried dumplings had right amount of meat to dumpling but bland dipping sauce.

The best! Probably the best Chinese in the area. Their sushi is scrumptious! and I always get either the Californian or the Vegetarian roll. The Mango Chicken is a wonderful combination of flavors and my husband recently ordered the General Tso’s Shrimp and it was gorgeous and he ate every bite. Wish we were closer and would visit more often. If you’re in Manvel or close by they’re easy to find on Highway 6. Tasty!

Our family eats here regularly and have not been disappointed. The General Tso’s and Kung Pow is delicious!

The very best Chinese I’ve had in some time. The General’s Chicken was still crispy and tasty even after my 6 mile drive home. It wasn’t greasy or heavy at all. The crab wontons were even perfectly crunchy after the commute.
I’d highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for great Chinese food! And you can support literacy while you’re there, stop in to the manvel public library which whom the wok shares a building!

Hubby had cashew chicken, I had the sweet and sour chicken (both entrée portions) and we started with some spring rolls.
Food was great, service was great and price was great.
Not much else to say really!
