Want to go on an adventure with great company? Come here. Prices are beyond reasonable. Tandem kayak for nearly whole day for $ 42 to go down the river. Can pay extra ($ 15 per person) to take a shuttle that drops you off at Rapidan Dam around 1pm and picks you up at Sibley Park around 5−6pm.
We met our guide River Ricky who quickly became a friend. We missed the 1pm shuttle for the day after an hour and half drive to get here from minneapolis. Rather than turn us down, he told us to drive to the dam, and that he would personally pick us up at Sibley Park to drop us back off at our car.
He gave us some tips, provided his number for emergency contact and we were good to go down the river. We apparently kayaked at super speed because we thought we were way behind the group and ended up finishing at the Sibley Park way early. River Ricky still came to get us and dropped us off. We chatted and bantered in the car. He realized we haven’t eaten since morning given our rush there, and told us to join him at the local diner at Rapidan. After he took us for a walk over at Rapidan Dam and gave is some brief summary regarding changes in the landscape there, and things to do in Mankato area. Overall, superb service. Will be back for round 2 with River Ricky soon.
