Voca People at New World Stages

It was tough picking a performance I could take my newly-​arrived exchange student to in August — her English was good but humor didn’t translate well at this point and she was exhausted by having to hear things in English, translate them into Dutch, think about her response in Dutch, translate it into English and then speak. So I picked Voca People because it seemed light and fun and like something people of any native language could enjoy. And I was right! This was the second to last activity of our «perfect day» in New York City (her first time). We were right in the front row and were blown away by just how fun this performance was. The music is amazing and the audience participation makes it even more enjoyable. We were glad that one of our friends was pulled instead of us.
Definitely a show for all ages and types of people — light, fun, and will keep you talking about it for days!

Wow. I forgot I went to this. This was really amazing and I’m sad I didn’t review this earlier but food comes first.
The singing and improv was spot on. I enjoyed the humor and creativity!

Life is musica… musica is life… Great performance. Very creative!

i took my son, then my friends took their kids. They LOVED it. The beat boxing and the music. We got good discounts. Wouldn’t pay full price though.

warning!!! only go to this show if you are white or caucasian. if you are any kind of ethnicity, the singers will totally ignore you even when you are on the aisle and go to the middle of the theater to pick people to come on stage. even though there were young ethnic males on the aisle, the women went out to the audience to choose young white men. it was offensive!!! of the 20 people they chose to join them or participate in the production — only white people were chosen. obviously, they will only associate with people — who are white like they are. aaaaawful.

After seeing a good number of the Broadway blockbusters we decided to try something at New World Stages (and the ‘Broadway Box’ discount helped seal the deal.)
Voca People is a highly creative, energetic performance that is sure to put a smile on your face and brighten up the cloudiest day… it takes a group of ‘cirque’-style aliens to remind us of all of the interesting and brilliant sounds in the human language system. Don’t hesitate to give Voca People a try.
The actual seats at New World are more akin to those in the coach section of many airplanes but if you get a discount and slam a cocktail, it’s tolerable.

Fun show and amazing how they don’t use any musical instruments and yet sound like an orchestra. Good vocals and the way they played off the audience and utilized a few people was funny.
