Great great experience ! I’ve been to several Uni K wax locations but Laura is my favorite hands down! I for a Brazilian bikini and we all know how painful those can be but it was a piece of cake with Laura. I live in Brooklyn and I think I will be making the trip to this location from now.

I read a bunch of Unilocal reviews before initially choosing a waxer, and I know it can make a big difference hearing from others. I feel like Laura doesn’t get enough love on this page! Laura has been my waxer for 2+ years now, and I would recommend her to anyone. I had a bad experience with my first Brazilian (not at Uni K), because I felt anxious /​unrelaxed not knowing when my waxer was going to remove wax strips. I vowed to never wax again after that experience, but Laura was a game changer for me. She helps me with breathing, and lets me know before she removes a wax strip (something I prefer) to help me stay relaxed, making the process less painful. Laura is tactful, professional, and has a soothing vibe about her that I love. I enjoy catching up with her casually during my appointments, and there is never any awkwardness. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with this process.

WARNING: Ladies please NEVER ever book a Brazilian wax with Laxmi. I am in so much pain because of this careless hag. She burned me so bad and ripped off some skin from my labia. She clearly had no idea what the hell she was doing because she carelessly applied thick strips of the wax all at once. Then she couldn’t even remove the strips so she called out for help and asked another lady to finish me. She took no accountability, left the room and didn’t even apologize. I was so bewildered I just wanted to cry. Her negligence has left me in so much pain it burns to pee. The saddest part is that the manager seemed indifferent to my suffering. He must of thought that because he gave me the service for free everything was fine. I have been to UniKwax several time and this experience has been traumatizing, I don’t ever want to go back.

The Best Wax in Manhattan very nice people, amazing service and excellent green soft wax, warm and elastic I love it. The store smell good and I can not believe is so painless.

Protima is simply the best waxer in NYC. There’s literally no debating it. For what should be a painful, mortifying experience she makes it bearable and really comfortable. She such a lovely person with an incredibly personal manner. She’s fast, professional and reasonably priced. I’ve recommended quite a few people to her and they are all now loyal customers. There’s no one else i’d ever go to.

Decent prices but that was the only redeemable quality. Customer service is completely lacking!
I made an appointment with a woman named Diana, but a different person actually completed my wax. She came into the room, did not introduce herself, waxed without attention to detail and left.
I had a eyebrow «cleaning» which was barely better than something I could do myself. She didn’t even use tweezers to clean up leftover hair. The same goes for «deep bikini» wax. She gave me no instruction other than to spread my legs and did not warn me when she was about to remove the strips.
The facility was slightly better than frightening. The rooms are like medical examination rooms with plastic covered beds and old laminate bedside carts. I cannot imagine their hygiene with equipment is any better. CREEPY really sums up the vibe. Do not be fooled by the bright waiting room.

I have been going to Pratima for about 3 years now from which 9m I was pregnant. She was the only one I trusted during my pregnancy. I even had a wax 1 week before I delivered. Now, my new job takes me to a different location and I cannot find anyone who is nearly as good as her :-(

I discovered Uni-​K last summer shortly after moving to the ‘hood and had a friend who went to another location and raved about how clean it was and great prices/​service. I immediately connected with one of the women who worked there and regularly came back because she was so great. Otherwise, I couldn’t have hated the place more.
The front desk staff is rude, inconsiderate and just don’t have any understanding of proper customer service. The turnover is crazy because the bad attitudes come from the top down. The manager is more than rude and basically covers up all their flaws by offering free services or ‘points’.
The website is complete crap.
Sadly (yet understandably) my woman left and I had to decided what to do – find a new place or stick with this place. I decided to give another person a shot. I went in for a lip wax with Reema. It’s as though I was her first client ever — which I guess is possible. She didn’t keep the wax on long enough. The wax was SO hot that I squealed because it burned me. She didn’t think anything of it. In fact, when she was done she tried to defend the situation. When I walked out to check out, the woman asked how my service was and I told her that Reema burned me. She went to the manager and clearly asked how to handle it, came back and told me I didn’t have to pay. Obviously I didn’t tip and that will be the last time they see me.
Oh and they raised their pricing without letting clients know — I’m not talking $ 1 more… significant increase.
Over it.
These people are disgusting.

Went here for the first time today. Don’t usually go here. I go to the location in Hell’s Kitchen. Service was fast and it was so quick. I forgot my waxing lady’s name but she was super sweet and nice and warned me when she was going to pull the wax off my skin. She made me feel comfortable. since this location is quick, I’ll be going to this one from now on!

Ask for Sangeeta! Professional and gentle… one of the most painless waxes I’ve ever had!

I went here today and was serviced by Pratima after reading reviews about her on Unilocal.I got there right on time and filled out a form, about 5 minutes later I was called in. Pratima was sweet, welcoming, and made me feel better about my first waxing experience. It wasn’t as painful as I had imagined. I will definitely be back.

This is the ONLY place I go to for a bikini wax. I am a big baby with when it comes to the bikini area and have extremely sensitive skin. The wax is fresh for each person and everything is squeaky clean. Shital is my favorite! I was a newbie and she makes it a little easier each time. I haven’t been brave enough for a Brazilian, but I get closer each visit. I I have to say I am disappointed the prices have gone up so much and not by a few dollars. I’m talking 15 – 20 $. Part of the appeal to me was it used to be reasonable. But I really can’t imagine going anywhere else!

My appointment was with Sangreeta. This was my first time at the new location. Check in (new paperwork) was quick. Front Desk was helpful, not overly friendly.
Sangreeta was my waxer, she is darling. She didn’t give too many details on what to do — so I assume she saw my records that I use Uni K before. She made small talk to break the ice — asking if I was coming from work. Not annoying at all, just chit chat. I told her I was nervous (always am!) and hate pain. She told me each time to take a deep breathe. It’s not very painful — the wax they use is so gentle. I was in an out in about 15 minutes (less) for a deep bikini and tummy wax.
I recommend Uni K to everyone — and now I will recommend Sangreeta by name.

Too bad you can’t give out halfs. I’d give the place 3.5 stars. My second time coming here. Pretty easy to make an appointment and it’s definitely not as «awful» of an experience as «going to get a wax» generally is expected to be. The place is clean and service is pretty good. What I’m taking stars away for is — it just doesn’t feel very welcoming when you first get in; just seems so tense in the front area (and not only because customers are anticipating some unpleasantness from the experience). I think it would do well for staff to be a little more pleasant and not exude all this tension (for whatever reason).

I really like this location a lot. it’s always busy but if you book in advance you won’t have a problem. The desk staff is sometimes hit or miss but I’ve noticed that is the case at every Uni K Wax location. I usually have Pratima do my wax she’s very good and takes her time. So no complaints when it comes to the wax. Highly recommended.

Nearly two years of going to Pratima and I’ve never been disappointed by her skills, kindness, and maintenance advice!
I love that she stays up to date on the latest tips and genuinely cares about her clients. If you listen to her guidance (exfoliate properly and moisturize!) the already relatively painless waxes will be faster, and even less painful (if such a thing is even possible under her hands). Her attention to detail is second to none.
Love Pratima and I love UniKwax. Highly recommend Pratima (summer, winter, or anytime in between); she’s the best!

if you see this review on another center page its because they use the same product everywhere and Id like customers or potentials to be forewarned.
Company says wax is a safe all natural wax that is formulated for sensitive skin and contains no chemicals
if you have sensitive skin do your due diligence and do a spot check first before doing any major waxing and make sure to ask your doc first.
i for one — did not have a great experience and have been to other places before which were fine, no extended redness or reaction.
heres an idea of the result of a bad reaction to their «all natural wax»: extreme itching, redness, for 2 weeks, looks like you have rosacea on whatever location and nothing helps, extreme tightness and discomfort for the whole duration, bumps (like leathery skin almost — disgusting), subsides only with a Rx — Its truly horrible and embarassing

Jovanna was awesome. The other ladies I had were not as thorough – the way they took off the strips must have impacted how much hair was picked up… But the services are cheaper than European Wax, and the wax is all-​natural, hard wax that is non-​irritating.
So far, all of the ladies I have had as waxers were quick, which minimized the amount of discomfort. This location is smaller than some of the others, like Murray Hill, but seems less crowded because it’s tucked away on this strip of 18^th street.

Really a pleasant surprise and that’s saying something, given this was for a Brazilian.
Ever since my wax lady left my usual spot, I’ve been on the hunt for another place. I was so averse to going to anyone but her that I put off waxing altogether for a while. (Note: delaying it only makes it worse). After a couple tries at other places, I think I’ve found my new place!
Uni K is a considerable upgrade to my old place. First of all, the ability to book online is SO convenient. Second, this place looks like a doctor’s office — all white and sterile and clean, with receptionists in the front. The estheticians wear SCRUBS — yeah, it’s that professional. They use a fresh pot of wax for each client so even if they double dip, it’s fine since it’s your own pot.
I requested Jovanna after reading the Unilocal reviews. Good move. She was nice and very quiet, which is what I like (no chitchat for me please!). Best of all, she was efficient and fast! I don’t think I’ve ever been waxed so quickly before. Even though I anticipated pain, it actually wasn’t bad at all, much less painful than I’m used to. She was very thorough and I’m happy with the results.
Their menu of services is ridiculously long and confusing. Prices are pretty reasonable though.
