7:20pm on Aug 6, 2015: I just had my WORST Starbucks experience at this location. I live in this neighborhood and have come in this store for several times. The lady at the cashier spent most of her time chatting with her co-​worker. I asked for a drink, but she kept chatting; 10 seconds later, she turned to me and said «we don’t have it today» and then resumed her conversation with her co-​worker again. She didn’t put her name tag on. Usually I would just have asked for her name and complained about the situation to the coporate, but since I live in the neighborhood and I don’t want to have a bad relationship with people working at the store, I didn’t say a word. But seriously she needs to learn how to do her job.

This is an okay Starbucks where there is never a very long line. Went there to get a frappucino during Starbucks’ «Frappucino happy hour». Found out it was full price after 5pm, but decided to get one anyway. When inside the barista told us, in a very disinterested way that they were out of frappucinos (!). How is that even possible? This being NYC I did not have to go far to get my frappé anyway, because there are so many places better than this one.

Honestly, the worst starbucks i’ve ever been to. (and i’ve been to my share of starbucks around the US)
There’s nothing wrong with the service/​décor/​wifi… The drink (grande iced white chocolate mocha) just Sucked! Every sip tasted like I just ate a packet of artificial sugar and the after taste gave me a huge headache. I had maybe five sips and threw everything away…

I’m ashamed of this Starbucks. Bad staff, weird hours.
Staffers are hit-​or-​miss — I’ve been served by cool peeps, but others are… not-​so-​much, let’s say. Of the 3 – 4 times I’ve been here, they’ve gotten my order right.
This location has random hours listed on their door and doesn’t even honor them! I’ve seen them put up chairs way in advance, and one time I was hanging out they started mopping the floors. Whatever cleanser Starbucks mandates, its pungency makes it hard to enjoy a latte.
Their proximity to Port Authority means they’ve got enough foot traffic to phone it in, but they also get a good number of crazies who come in, so buyer beware.

Got order wrong twice, although order was fixed and they were quite polite both times.

I’m a regular customer of Starbucks in NYC island-​wide, but this outlet — for the first time — this barista made all the world difference. It’s my birthday month and I was feeling crummy. It took someone who stopped and took the time to help me when I’m having trouble/​error with my Starbucks Rewards/​Loyalty program. Was so friendly yet real and sincere. I am so grateful. When I first moved to Hell’s Kitchen form Queens, I thought the bad reviews for the place where way overdone. It’s not the greatest place in the world; it’s Starbucks; it’s a chain. But it’s way better than the Starbucks shops you fid in Queens.
But the passage of time has caused me to rethink my review. The evening staffers seem to be very freewheeling with the hours, mopping and putting chairs up way ahead of closing time, and sometimes, even closing well before the posted closing time. And a few days ago, I stopped in at about 9 PM hoping yo tlr. with a cup of coffee on my way home. but the smell of the cleaning substance they’d bouncing was so overpowering, I turned around and walked out.
This neighborhood has no shortage of coffee shops. With Khave, Rex and Fika among others, I’m really finding it hard to persuade myself to keep coming back to this Starbucks, which is probably better suited for tourists.

Rude & Ghetto Barista so called «Manager» latasha is the name she gave me. I Ordered a venti ice late and asked for a larger cup
So I can get extra ice she Rudely refused so I offered to pay for the large cup as a drink just so I can have the larger cup with extra ice she clearly said NO! I am not going to sell it to you we don’t do that here. and continue to the next customer and ignore me. I was really upset because I wasn’t asking for anything free, when I am purchasing a 5.67 latte and my husband and I buy coffee in Starbucks daily for 5 years now and by far this is the worse we ever encounter.
I see I am not the only one with this issue, please save your money and give the business to the other Starbucks one block away… Ms manager should be working in a coffee truck somewhere where coffee is sold for 50 cents.

I concur with the rest of the of the reviews there is always some drama going on in here… the food in the deli case always looks old and tired — the staff is different every time you go in there — the coffee is passable barely for five bucks it should dance around and tickle your nose and tongue — but it really doesn’t passable only there are six others SBs within a four block radius i don’t know what they hell iamtryda say except this starbuks is always in a strange drama — of some sort… my fav in the hood is the one by worldwide plaza on 50^th not the one on Eigth

The WORST service in Starbucks history! Never go there unless you are desperate for coffee. I live by this location and wait til I get to the 60thSt/​3^rd Ave location by my job to get coffee. There is one manager girl there who thinks she is hotshit and only acknowledges the male clientele. They never listen to my drink order which is so simple with no added shit to it and they still make some other concoction and have to wait longer. 88 people behind the counter and no one knows what the hell is going on. Ridiculous.

Came in partly to use the bathroom and also to get a café vanilla frappuccino. It started with the bathroom. I can understand that no bathroom will smell like sunshine and rainbows over a spring meadow after being used all day, but this was atrocious. I could barely breathe as it smelled like there were multiple old diapers marinating in horse piss. I had placed my order before using the bathroom and wanted to say something to the guy making my drink about the smell. I waited until he was done, but as he handed me my drink, I noticed there was caramel on top of my whipped cream. I’m not the biggest fan of caramel so I asked him, his name is Cornelius, if he could please take the whipped cream off because a Café Vanilla frapp doesn’t come with it. I noticed he already had an attitude and he told me that was vanilla on top and not caramel. I explained that I had never had one with that on top and the worker next to him told him it doesn’t come with it. He then snatched my frapp from me and threw it in the trash as he proceeded to make someone else’s drink and make me a new one. No apology and he didn’t even look me in the eye as he placed the new drink on the counter. I said thank you and walked out without saying a word about the bathroom. Don’t know if Cornelius was having a bad day, but he certainly made sure to let everyone know it!

While it’s just your average Starbucks, the guys that work here are really cool and friendly. Callouts to Gabriel and Ricardo, who are professional and do their jobs well, but are engaging with their guests.
This Starbucks could use some love. It’s the older style and is really showing it’s age. While the writing on the wall when you walk in has a great inspiring quote, the booth beneath it is also showing its age with tears and rips. It’s been said that this location (47^th and 9^th) is slated to get the Starbucks remodel by June 2014. Let’s hope!

This is the best Starbucks in NYC hands down! Don’t know why all the bad reviews! I go here everyday and they are awesome! My drink is always perfect!

I live very close by here and whenever I have needed to take a cab downtown, I walk down ninth avenue to this location since there are plenty of taxi’s around here. In the morning, the staff seems to know that everyone in there simply must be a Manhattanite because the line and drinks come fairly quickly. (Hey, Manhattanites have places to go, people to see.) Even if I am not off to work and I am walking home, I’ll pop in because the baristas make their beverages with pure love. Plus, if Mother Nature isn’t being kind this is actually a fantastic spot to grab a seat on the table, window bar or couch and whip out your laptop to pretend you’re actually writing something!
I actually have not been to this location in a while so I popped in once I heard via Twitter that the PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE IS BACK FOR FALL! HUZZAH! Le Boyfriend treated me to one but I was annoyed that the cashier took at least forty seconds to count $ 14.25 in change. In addition to waiting, I decided to wait alongside my boyfriend when one barista decided to nearly shout at me to move down the line. Um, sorry but no one puts Baby in the corner. or I suppose in this case Anna in the corner waiting for her latte. Not that serious considering that there was barely a line behind us and there was enough room. On another note, it’s worth pointing out that we came here in the late afternoon-​ish and the majority of their carbtastic treats were nearly gone.
The end result? An amazing iced grande pumpkin spiced latte. YUM.

It got personal.
When ordering a Peach Green Tea Lemonade, the same barista that took my order called me over to the bar two minutes later asking me what I had ordered. At the time, I was the only customer in line. But, since he decided to joke around with his other co-​workers while initially incorrectly placing my order into the register, I understand why he forgot.
Within that order, I asked the same barista for a marshmallow square as well. There were approximately a dozen in the display case directly to his left. He told me there were none. I said there were. He once again firmly told me there were not. A fellow barista told him that there were marshmallow squares. He got pissy at both of us for being correct.
I can deal with the rudeness and aloofness. I’m a seasoned New Yorker and a seasoned Starbucks customer…
…but…
…DON’T YOU DARE CHASTISE MY DADDY FOR ORDERING A TALL COFFEE AS A «SMALL»!!!
Some of us grew up and still live in places were a small is not a tall. It is, indeed, a small. Don’t correct him rudely. Don’t give him attitude. Don’t make me go over to your tip jar and fish out the measly 36 cents in change I hastily threw in out of habit.
Go make my dad a small coffee and adjust your attitude, SON.
But hey, I appreciated the nice window seats overlooking 9^th Avenue with a convenient plug for my dying iPhone.
This Starbucks make a good shelter for a summer tropical downpour, a place for a quick drink, and a place to usurp some electricity. That’s about it.

I really don’t ever review Starbucks because I think it’s pointless. However, I was inclined to do so in this instance because this Starbucks is particularly terrible.
The staff is rude. They don’t listen and inevitably end up messing up everyones’ drinks. I’m lucky that this last time I was there, I caught the barista putting whole milk when I had clearly asked for skim and the cup had that written on it as well. When I corrected her, she seemed to get angry.
There is a Starbucks a couple of blocks away on 49^th and 8^th. Just do yourself a favor and go to that one instead. This one is horrible.

This is one of my least favorite Starbucks.
Sometimes the staff isn’t the friendliest, although I don’t blame them, it’s a very small location and it’s always extremely packed, so I can understand how they can get frustrated.
As far as the coffee at this location, sometimes when I order my vanilla latte they burn the milk and it just doesn’t taste too good, other than that if you’re in the area of Hell’s Kitchen and need a quick caffeine fix this location isn’t bad I’d rather get a basic coffee at this location that I can make myself just so they don’t burn the milk. LOL

This place is my office some days!
The staff is über nice, funny, helpful and always in a good mood! They are also especially quick and that’s amazing because the other two Starbucks near by are the slowest in the city!
Out of all the Starbucks in the city this one has done right by me so i can’t say anything bad about it!

Is it horrible to say that the only reason I go to this Starbucks (aside from the close proximity to my apartment) is to see how often the baristas get my order wrong? Seriously, I could make a drinking game out of how many times my order’s messed up (I’m guessing that they messed up my order six times in October… I went seven times).
See, it would be okay if the baristas were apologetic about their hearing mishaps. Sadly, they just give you an attitude whenever you tell them that they made the wrong order. I even SOUND apologetic whenever I tell them (I like to not trouble them). Instead they act like YOU screwed up in telling them that they did their job wrong.
Dead serious, someone should just blow up this location. It’s truly heinous.

This Starbucks is a serious crackhouse.
When I first moved to my apt last year, it took Time Warner Cable a lifetime to get it together enough to set up my internet. As a result, I spent hours for weeks at this Starbucks on my laptop, simply because of the convenient location. I desperately needed to job-​hunt, send applications, tweak my resume. Unless I took a journey to another wi-​fi enabled coffee house, this was the only way.
Try doing all this with a wild eyed woman with hair resembling a bird’s nest glaring at you whilst muttering, «devil. DEVIL. DEVIL.»
There surely must be some sort of home or hospital in close proximity for the mentally unstable, because the retarded people just keep rolling in. All day. All night. Retarded, as in literally retarded. They sometimes arrive in pairs and have conversations in their «outdoor voices,» staying for hours, crying, rocking, spilling their food and drinks, staring you down, distracting you with their stench, etc.
Not that I have anything against the mentally challenged, but trying to work and concentrate in a venue where half the clientele is completely wigging m, invading my personal space, and disturbing the peace just isn’t my first choice.
Also, it makes me sad that they are always out of spinach feta wraps and turkey bacon.
I hope those poor baristas have some vodka stashed behind the counter for the tough times.
