Clean, quick and professional. My favorite salon in the area! The women who work here are friendly and accommodating.

I’m not sure what the complaints are with place… I think they do a fantastic job! Before moving to NYC I would make it a point to get here for a mani, pedi and massage when visiting… now that I live here, I wanna be a regular.

This place is amazing, great acrylics for only $ 37! They have great service and good prices, I recommend highly

The staff here is super friendly, not sure why previous reviews have said otherwise. They do a thorough job and if for whatever reason your nails get messed up in the couple of days after, they fix it.
You can’t beat a quality mani for $ 9. I always do my nails here when I am in town.

My experience there getting a facial mask was amazing. Walked in and asked them if they do facials because it was not listed in the front.
They girl called over her manager and said yes that it was $ 39 dollars. I said sure and accepted the offer since other places around there are much more expensive. They took long to take care of me in the room. I had to get changed because they said it would reach through the my neck.
The process took like 40 – 50 minutes. They put different facials and creams. And there was even a pore vapor machine. It felt really pampering, I can’t wait to do it again.
I see this place has very bad reviews, but as far as their facials I recommend them!

My manicure lasted a full 9 days without a chip or a scratch (and I’m a working mom of a toddler, so having my hands full is unavoidable) and my pedicure lasted the full 2 weeks until I got another one! (And I’m a dancer, so that’s hard to come by too. I can’t wait to go back.

I’m usually against reviews but I thought everyone should know what happened. so I came the day before and showed a picture of the nails I wanted to the receptionist. she gave me a look like I was dumb as I was showing her a picture of acrylics. she said «yes we do acrylics, $ 35″ so I said I would come back tomorrow. I walked in and was taken right away, and chose my color. as I sat down I showed my technician the same picture I showed the other lady. she basically dropped my uncased phone on the desk. she was screaming and making a scene. she then said it’s going to be 48 because they’re extra long. I then said why if the actual tips are long, I just want a bit clipped off. then she just went on so I agreed. after she starts, she starts with the questions. „where are you from „“ why do you want long nails“. I told her I was shooting a video in south beach. She then proceeds to say „oh you’re a model it makes sense & you’re Spanish ?? i understand now“ I thought she couldn’t be serious. But to top it off she adds
» I’m doing them because we’re slow but the length you want, you should go to Brooklyn next time «
What does that mean ?
overall, I was uncomfortable the entire time. she took pictures of them to show her husband. she called at least 3 other technicians over to look at them. & not to mention the GAWKS I was receiving from other customers.
Last time doing my nails there. Last time doing my nails in the west village. Screw you old granny’s. next time I’ll go to BK & get my nails done & wine at the same time for half of what I paid here.

Worst manicure ever! I was here twice before and thought maybe I just caught them on a bad day! Sorry… three times and you’re out! Angela did my half-​ass manicure, asked me questions the entire time, never soaked my hands, cuticle oil on one hand and not the other. cold towel, and then put matte top coat on my glitter polish. Done! Bye! Rushed, rude and un-professional…never again! Stay away!

Like most nail salons around NYC, the mani/​pedi is about $ 23 and its fairly good. It is a big nail salon and gets quite hectic on Fridays. I would recommend going off hours if possible as it might be a little too much with too many people moving around. The nail polish selection seemed disorganized, Essie colors on one side and OPI on another wall with no specific order of colors. The quality of work was good and the nail technician was really friendly and did a great job with my mani and pedi. I say if you are around the neighborhood try the place but I would not go out of my way to go there.

The fact that this place has 2.5 stars as a whole doesn’t surprise me.
I walked in and wasn’t greeted right away. Was more just stared at. Geez!
The lady that I worked with was personable enough. She wasn’t rude or anything of the sort. They are getting two stars because she was so occupied with being efficient (or maybe she was just lazy?) that she rushed over scrubbing as well as giving a good massage to my feet.
Part of getting a manicure and pedicure for me is feeling like I am getting pampered. I just didn’t feel like I was taken good care of. Seriously, I think I got a mani/​pedi done in like 25 minutes.
My fave nail place uptown will spend at least that amount of time just on my feet alone!
Guess it’s what you are looking for but I don’t get mani/​pedis done all that often so when I do, I want to feel like I am getting a treat and I didn’t feel that today.
Paint job was done well though, but other staff weren’t all that friendly. As I was leaving, I said good bye to one of the staff and she literally just looked at me. Cheap mani/​pedi ($ 23 total) but I won’t be going back!

I came to Spring Star Nail on a Sunday as a walk-​in, needing a quick mani. My experience was lackluster. I was seated right away, but the girl raced through the mani. I wasn’t given any warm water to soak in (though it looked like other girls did, so maybe my experience was unique). The salon wasn’t necessarily dirty, but did feel slightly off. My color only lasted a few days before chipping.
In general, I wasn’t impressed with this place. There are many other nail salons in the area, at comparable prices — go to those instead.

I love this place. Everyone is so nice and friendly and my mani/​pedis last a long time. The back massages are also great.

I went there to get my mani done and the girl started to file my nail which is unnecessary for a regular mani and they started to scream and yell to each other, one of the girls was yelling for an hour I even stand up and ask her to stop but she acted like I wasn’t there. The chair massage was great. Then I got waxing and my skin got irritated few hours after. After 2 days my skin is just getting worst. Once they filed my nails to do gel and the girl filed so much that blood came out from my nail. it took so long to heel I just never did gel in my life anymore. Honestly they don’t know what their doing and they are fighting in front of the costumers. Extremely unprofessional.

I go here once every 2 – 3 weeks for a pedicure and gel manicure. I’ve dealt with at least 5 of the girls and there was only 1 I didn’t like. They were very nice and took their time. I’ve never had to wait but I always come in on a weekday either around lunch or right before everyone else gets out of work. My gel manicures last around 3 weeks-​every time!
Last time I went I also got my eyebrows waxed but I don’t think waxing in general is their forte. When It comes to my nails though-​I always get more than i pay for and one of the best deals in the city! ($ 43 for pedi and gel mani)

This place is my new jam. They have a mani/​pedi special for 22 bucks and give a bomb back massage. My manicures usually last 2 weeks when I come here.

I really, really hate to knock a small business, but I think something illegal might be going on here!
The girl running the show on a Thursday night could not possibly be more than 12 years old. Might even be 10. I was extremely uncomfortable as she was removing polish from my toes — felt like such a jerk! — this kid should be at home doing multiplication tables or something, not handling acetone polish remover and touching a stranger’s feet! I really felt bad. I wasn’t sure how to react /​what to say, so just went with it, but will not be coming back.
The woman who took over for the rest of the service was almost violent, she was rushing so much — pretty sure she might have cut skin in a few places. As they were cleaning up, everyone was literally screaming at one another — pushing chairs around so they banged in to one another, running mop buckets into customers… Dropping utensils on the ground. cannot be sterile whatsoever.
This place is a hot mess. It’s not worth a cheap mani pedi. Take business elsewhere!

I don’t understand the negative reviews. This place is fantastic.
Note: Women of the world I thought it was common knowledge but I guess not, just know that you should never make appointments at nail salons. There is absolutely no reason to make an appointment. They will never be honored or remembered. and frankly these places make $$ because of quantity — meaning, you’ll never really need to wait longer than 15 minutes (unless its NYE).
ok– now that I’ve gotten that out of the way. This salon is fantastic, the staff is nice (I think a lot of them don’t speak English very well which is why you might think they are rude) but that is not the case. They are super friendly. Also a manicure is $ 8.50 — that is a tough price point to beat in the city.
Lets talk about how fabulous the 15 minute massage + manicure deal is = $ 21.00. I personally hate waiting for my nails to dry so I always spring for the 15 minute massage. Its great, really, a strong massage after a hard days of work is just what the doctor ordered.
So yes, go here. Don’t listen to the haters.
Also — why would you buy a Groupon? its not 2009. Groupons are always terrible deals. Vendors hate working with Groupon because they’ve realized that handing out a million deals does not equal customer retention. So stop buying them. Also, why would you buy a Groupon deal for a place that charges you $ 23.00 for a mani/​pedi anyway?

I really don’t like one star reviews. They seem like they can only possibly have been written by extremely jaded individuals. But you guys, this is for real. So I got the groupon and had the same experience as the others below. Conversation as follows:
Me: Hello, I’d like to make a 5pm appointment on Tuesday
Her: Do you have groupon?
Me: Yes.
Her: We don’t have any appointments at 5, you can come at 1
Me: Oh that doesn’t work for me, I have a job and can’t come during the week until 5
Her: Well you can come at 2 on Wednesday
Me: I have a… nevermind, I“ll be out of town.
Her: Well you can come, but you’ll have to wait 30 minutes.
Me: Eh… ok
I get there and when I walked in no one greeted me, one of the other customers just told me to sit down and wait. I did and the one woman who speaks the most English walked over and said «Pick a color» and literally walked away. As she was walking away I repeatedly asked «Are these the shellac colors» and she repeatedly said «Pick a color».
The rest is basically as everyone else said, terribly lazy pedicure. The color didn’t seem to make it to the edges of my feel. Coincidentally I had a «girls day» for work four days later and we had appointments for pedicures. I was sad because I HAD to use my groupon before it expired and I wasn’t going to get to partake in the girls day. Needless to say, I REALLY needed that second pedi to fix all that was missed at Spring Star.
When it was time for my mani, I asked about shellac again at least three times and it wasn’t until I pulled out my groupon to pay (after the barely there buff job and file) that she actually realized that I needed a different polish. I’m not sure if she didn’t know how to shellac… which is weird because it’s just painting with a different bottle, but she left me sitting in the chair half-​way thru and went to do someone else’s pedicure. Oddly enough there were two other people in the exact same position so I didn’t feel so bad. Although they spent a lot of time pointing and laughing. Which is always nice. NOT :) I got my mani, and since she did nothing to my cuticles, four days later it looks like crap. The polish is good, but it’s about three feet from my cuticle bed… that may be a slight exaggeration, but you get the point.
And they charge $ 2.50 on top of your gropuon price for tax. Not a big deal, but just so you know.
Bottom line, don’t go here. Pay the extra ten bucks or whatever and go somewhere else and get a little bit more for your money! I’m glad I only spent $ 12 but it’s definitely not worth $ 20!

For a $ 21 mani and pedi (without a coupon of sort), what more do you really expect?
My friend and I were able to get appointments at the same time. Even though we were around 15 minutes late, they got us in right away.
Pedi was done first and mani after. Both were done by the same person which I prefer.
I felt service was good. I was hot as hell so when she started to run the water for my pedicure I asked for a cooler temp. She then double checked if the temp was ok. I was asked beforehand if I wanted cut down or just filed. Only one up-​sell was attempted when asking if I would want an extra massage.
I bring my own color as I get the same one every time, but they had a big selection of both OPI and essie colors. They even had my signature color which was impressive.
They take cash or plastic. I don’t think they were needed but they take appointments. And from what I remember seeing on the door, they are open pretty damn late for a nail shop (8pm/​9pm).
Not in my area but for this price, I’d come back.
