SonicVision at the Hayden Planetarium

It WAS awesome back when they did this — but having just called them now — I feel I must sadly let everyone know — they no longer offer this show or anything similar.
Oh well — guess that’s why I bought 3D glasses for my TV

The show is closed! I missed it!

The show was too short. It’s good that we got tickets at a discounted price because it wouldn’t have been worth it to pay full price. The graphics were pretty nice for the most part. The Clocks by Coldplay part was really disappointing. I was looking forward to that part the most. Sit in the back to prevent neck cramps.

WOW! this has to be the trippiest/​mesmerizing music show i have ever been to in my life. SUCH a find in NYC!
every friday and saturday at 7:30 and 8:30 pm, the planetarium at the american museum of natural history has a crazy music and light show.

i suggest getting there 20 minutes before, for optimal ticket-​picking-​up. they are strict about closing the doors and not letting people in after it starts (we almost got locked out!)
i got my tickets on goldstar, and it was only $ 11, as opposed to the $ 19 regular price.
i suggest being messed up before coming, and get ready to be taken away.
you sit in a seat with crazy computer animated graphics all around you, constantly moving and vibrating. (imagine the craziest itunes animations, but with a purpose). the playlist is amazing, since MTV2 is a collaborator in this. they play bowie, goldfrapp, flaming lips, zwan, brian eno, fischerspooner, moby, and lots of others.
it only goes for 40 minutes, but i honestly cannot imagine what state we would have all been in if it went on for an hour anda a half… we would probably all have been a pool of jelly. i know i could not keep my mouth closed the whole time — it was hypnotic.
YOU MUST SEE THIS SHOW. its so available and SO fun. for only $ 11, thats like a cocktail.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for those who enjoy trippy amazing experiences. this should be a pod at burning man. you’ll seeeeee!
