Scratch Weddings

My new bride and I are over the moon with our experience with Scratch, and with DJ Alias in particular. We and our guests LOVED him.
Our experience with Scratch made our lives easy. We loved working with Sandra, Scratch’s operations manager, who was very organized, and and we loved the Music Match interface. We used it to input our first-​dance, parents-​dance and final-​dance songs, and our extensive do-​not-​play list, although we really appreciated Scratch’s flexibility in letting us go outside the interface to submit a spreadsheet of songs we wanted. At Scratch’s suggestion, we took a prep call with you and DJ Alias the week of the wedding, which was a professional touch, and helped us get on the same page.
Overall, a perfect experience, and we were really pleased with DJ Alias’ ability to fuse his great taste with our taste. The music was without question one of the very best parts of our wedding.

Scratch Weddings was so easy to work with. DJ Jon Blak was great and we couldn’t have been happier with what we got. They have so many DJs to choose from — depending on what type of party you want. The way we chose our music was easy and straightforward. It made planning the party so easy and there were no issues. Great Company!

My husband and I had our wedding on June 28, 2015 at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie, NY. DJ Carver was our dj and we had a blast. We’ve been getting so many compliments on our DJ. All our guests had such a good time. It was a pleasure working with Kim, Sandra, DJ Carver, and Scratch Weddings for our wedding. We would definitely recommend Scratch to our family and friends.

I dealt with a guy named Tyler yesterday at The Wythe and his attitude was absolutely awful. Request someone else when you book.

My husband and I were so happy with the team at Scratch Weddings, especially Sandra (our day-​of wedding manager) and DJ Marvl. From beginning to end, the folks at Scratch were incredibly professional, reliable and responsive. Their online music selection service is easy to use and had every song we could have asked for — if anything, it was difficult to pick our «must plays»! On the day of the wedding, DJ Marvl arrived promptly and was super flexible when we had to bring the ceremony inside at the last minute (interrupting his set up time). By the time our reception began, guests couldn’t wait to begin dancing, and DJ Marvl did an absolutely fantastic job keeping everyone on the dance floor. He played a great mix of wedding classics and up-​to-​the-​minute hits — there was something for everyone to dance to! After the wedding, our guests couldn’t stop talking about what a great job he did. Overall, we cannot recommend DJ Marvl and the team at Scratch more highly. Thank you so much!

We first came across Scratch Weddings when they provided the soundtrack to a Wedding Crashers event in Brooklyn. Walking through the venue, i tugged on my fiancée’s arm annoyingly during every song to indicate how much I wanted to play music like that at our wedding. I believe it was DJ Alias at the event.
After contacting Scratch, and giving our thoughts on the music, they quickly were able to suggest 3 dj’s, all of whom were amazing, and available on our wedding date. Working with Sandra was very easy and she was very responsive anytime we had questions. Ultimately, we selected Alkaline as our dj, and he ended up doing a great job. We had some crazy requests for the wedding — classic bollywood, old school reggae, jazz, salsa, merengue, hip hop and r&b. But, Alkaline navigated it all expertly, and made sure the crowd was energized and having fun. Our only regret was not having more time for dancing because everyone was having such a great time.
One other thing to note, is that using their Music Match system was extremely helpful. It allows you to request specific songs for the different parts of the ceremony and reception. For music lovers like us, it gave us a chance to get very specific when necessary, but also to just give the flavors of what we wanted so that we could let Alkaline do what he does best.
Scratch and Alkaline are highly recommended …

We had DJ Jon Blak for our wedding and he was amazing. The whole Scratch team was great throughout the entire process and the day went off without a hitch. Jon had a great attitude, played exactly what we wanted (and didn’t play what we didn’t want) and knew just how to get the crowd going. I’d absolutely recommend them.

Highly recommend! We did not want to put money into a wedding planner and decided to search for great vendors to «compensate» for this. At first we went with Beat train productions for a DJ and they CANCELLED ON US! We were absolutely furious and very skeptical. We interviewed a ton of places! After calling Scratch, we first spoke to Jenn who was helpful in recommending a DJ — DJ Trife. We skowered the Internet for reviews about him or videos of him DJing and finally decided to just trust Scratch Weddings since they had good reviews online. SO GLAD WE DID! Liz was super helpful and DJ Trife was magical. We stayed on the dancefloor the entire night and so did most of our guests! My feet aren’t the biggest fan of DJ Trife but we definitely are! :) I highly recommend Scratch Weddings and if you can, ask for DJ Trife!

We hired Scratch for our wedding on 8÷8÷15, and could not be happier with the service. Sandra was incredibly helpful in coordinating music selection and logistics. They use a website to select songs (the «do not play» list was particularly helpful) which made the whole process really easy. We had a quick phone call to check in roughly a week before, but that was all that we had to do.
Then, DJ Vida showed up and killed it! She accommodated all of our requests (music, toasts, entrances, etc.), and kept the crowd dancing all night, literally. Our guests have been raving about the music — even my dad has been bugging me for the playlist. Thank you SO MUCH for an awesome DJ experience! Vida & Scratch get our highest recommendation.

DJ SJ was awesome! I mean, absolutely unbelievable. We could not stop people from dancing and had to adjust the schedule because all people wanted to do was dance. It got a little out of hand at one point and he didn’t flinch, just kept rockin’ it! I even got booed (at my own wedding!) trying to make an announcement.
We were not helpful at all with our lists and I just dumped a bunch of songs on him. He played ALL the good ones and crushed it. It was nearly a hurricane (to the point they had to move the ferry schedule up to be safe) and it didn’t even phase him. SJ was so good and Sarah and I could not have been happier.

Scratch Events supports sexual harassment. I was harassed by Patrick on the Norwegian Epic while under the employ of Scratch and instead of being supported I was blacklisted and swept under the rug! Don’t trust — these are marketers, not djs! Nobody running this company actually spins — it’s all hype.

The music at our NYC wedding was awesome… thanks to our Scratch DJ, Vida Ventura! She totally got our alternative tastes and blended them with great dance tunes from all decades to keep our guests (from ages 15 to 80) filling the dance floor. She was also good with making announcements and was flexible as our timeline shifted. The whole process of booking with Scratch Weddings was easy. They have great customer service and a helpful music picking tool. Book with confidence!

We used Scratch for our wedding and loved it! The software system they have is VERY easy to use and add songs for whatever part of the night you want. We had some very specific requests for song cues and they were all executed to perfection. DJ Jon Blak played the exact kind of fun songs we asked for and people of all ages had a blast — and this was all done without the playlist ever becoming cheesy. Our wedding venue said it was the most people they’d ever seen dancing! We would use Scratch and Jon Blak again in a second!

We booked Scratch Weddings because they were recommended by our coordinator. We are passionate about two things in our life: music and food. We believed that if we had amazing food and a great DJ, this would make for a successful wedding. We were impressed by how professional and organized the process was in the beginning. We were given a sample mix from 3 different DJs to choose from. We were so impressed by the mix from DJ Dan that decided to work with him. I had high hopes and kept imagining how great the music and overall vibe the DJ would bring to our wedding, but unfortunately it was the total opposite of what we expected. Although, he did follow the timeline that was given, there was very little interaction between him and the audience. I wish the event manager at Scratch would have told us that DJ Dan was not the type to rally crowds to the dance floor. There was basic spinning, but no mixing, which was strange. We felt like we could have brought our laptop and pressed play if we knew there was not going to be an emphasis on emcee-​ing and/​or mixing. We sent a complaint to the manager afterwards, but there was little attention given to the complaint and we felt like it was brushed under the rug. We asked for some portion of a refund, but that unfortunately, that wasn’t granted. They said the reason was that we failed to micro-​manage the DJ during the event (in other words). We spent our hard earned money for a what we thought was a high quality DJ that knows how to be energetic and fun. Why would we have to tell him how to do the obvious? Luckily, our other vendors turned out great, which made the rest of the evening turn out great. The whole experience with Scratch became such a disappointment. We certainly do not recommend them to our friends and family. I’m a bit surprised by all of the great reviews.

Our wedding took place on a boiling hot summer day where it took the sun forever to go down. In my experience that’s usually an uphill battle for getting people to dance. I am not exaggerating when I say the dance floor at our wedding was filled to capacity for the entirety of our reception.
DJ Clint’s music selection was exactly what we wanted, he was constantly mixing, mashing up, and his read of the crowd was spot on. He wasn’t cheesy, was dressed professionally, and made all the appropriate announcements in a way that never killed the vibe. A true DJ.
One of our guests came up to me afterwards and said, «I have never seen so many people dance this hard for this long.» That guest was dancing machine, Justin Timberlake.
…alright fine, no it wasn’t but the rest is true.
Could not recommend this company more!

DJ Dan Chavez was excellent! He had the entire wedding dancing from beginning to end of the reception. After the party, we had so many compliments on how amazing the wedding was and how much fun everyone had. Some said it was the best wedding they’d ever been too! Highly recommend Scratch DJs, especially Dan Chavez. The entire process was very easy from selecting songs to timing of songs played.

In retrospect, I was too harsh about the marketing. The actual service and DJ were great.

We used Scratch for our wedding last weekend and it was perfect! They were so easy to work with and made our whole experience seamless.
DJ Accurit was wonderful and really paid attention to what we asked for. He did a wonderful l job announcing all of the speeches and entrances and first dances.
The portal that scratch uses for people to pick their music is so easy and really fun to use!

Finding a DJ was one of the wedding tasks I was dreading most but luckily I found Scratch and everything went seamlessly from the moment we booked them right up through the big day.
It didn’t hurt that their prices were very reasonable.
They were very easy to work with and worked with my venue coordinator to take care of all the little details and set up so that I didn’t have a thing to worry about.
Zev was a great DJ and didn’t balk at our semi-​unusual ceremony and reception music choices which were heavy on the electronica.

I used Scratch for my wedding in June 2014 and could not say enough amazing things about the company. They were the easiest company to work with from start to finish. Our coordinator Dana was the BEST! DJ Jon Blak was INCREDIBLE and kept the party going all night long! I found their prices very reasonable and guests continue to rave about the music. My parents, who beforehand, were nervous about us not playing enough songs «for them» were thrilled with the music in the end. My parents and their friends danced the night away!
Originally we selected Scratch because a friend of ours used them for their wedding a year prior and we had the best time — danced all night long.
