As bad as they come.
Putting aside the rude staff and the fact that they labelled my x-​rays with another patient’s name — after waiting for more than one hour for my appointment + another 20 mins in-​room — Dr. Seldes was terrible and inattentive.
He barely examined my hip and sent me for an x-​ray which showed no injury. The question remained as to why I had pain in that case. He didn’t looked into it any further, prescribed physical therapy WITHOUT a diagnosis! — so what I am supposed to do at physical therapy if I do not know what is wrong?! — and most of all, spent his time looking at his BLACKBERRY while I tried to ask follow up questions!!!
The icing on the cake? I received 4 bills — and called their billing department 5 times — regarding the co-​pay I had already paid on the day of my appointment.
In conclusion, not only was Dr. Seldes unprofessional AND unpleasant, I also believe this kind of behavior is truly dangerous. Please do not put yourself through this experience.

Really bad doctor. The office staff is very unprofessional. Doesn’t follow up on anything. My minor daughter had an MRI last week, but I’m unable to get info about. Their system is down so they cannot offer an appointment, doctor won’t come on the phone. Doctor takes 2 minutes tops with you in the room, very shallow, no hands on, if he gives you 2 sentences you’re lucky! Its all about billing health insurance, doctor totally useless. Find another place, I do NOT recommend this doctor.

Great doctor took good care of me with my knee. Was not overly aggressive and does not push surgery or meds. Most of all he is a kind and caring doctor.

Dr Seldes performed my arthroscopic shoulder surgery almost 3 years ago & he saved my life! I was in a tremendous amount of pain beforehand & nothing was visible on X-​rays or an MRI to provide any reason why. My decision to let him perform the procedure was the best thing I did. AWESOME doctor & I love his staff! The surgical center was highly efficient and even provided transportation back & forth from my home. I was in and out of the OR in under an hour! If you need to have your shoulder repaired, he is the man to see!

I must disagree with the first negative review of Dr. Seldes and his staff. Totally untrue! I found Dr. Seldes to be very professional. He gave me his honest opinion and did not pussyfoot around. His staff is stellar, very kind and polite. Yes, my outpatient surgery was in New Jersey, a brand new surgical center. He even sent a limo. car for me to travel back and forth, and I was there in less than ½ of an hour! Surgical centers are better for outpatient surgery, they process quicker, and are more efficient than a hospital. Dr. Seldes came out to meet with me before my surgery asking pertinent questions, as did two of his staff, his anesthesiologist and physician assistant, reinforcing the questions Dr. Seldes asked. When you go to an orthopedic doctor, you should go to one who specializes in all aspects of orthopedics. Dr. Seldes specializes in knee, hip, and shoulder surgery. I even received a phone call from his staff the next day asking how I felt and how I rate my experience. God Bless you Dr. Seldes and your staff, keep up the good work!

Dr. Seldes did my shoulder and hip. And yes my hip was done in NJ. The facility is beautiful and the staff was wonderful. Comparing to the hospital in NY is a huge difference and I was comfortable. It was my very first time seeing NJ hospital and Thank god I have good health insurance. I deserve the best. My brother got hurt in his job and worker’s comp. cover him and also saw Dr. Seldes and had his surgery in NJ. But before I saw Dr. Seldes, I went to other Orthopedic, in fact I went to two Orthopedic and what they told me they couldn’t do the procedure Dr. Seldes can. His staff is wonderful and the wait is not too long. For the record: Dr. Seldes only Specialist only in Knee, Hip and Shoulder. As for his staff, there are very helpful, beautiful and polite. I still see him for over 5 years and I will continue to see Dr. Seldes.

Dr. Seldes and his staff are the worst it gets, unprofessional, impersonal and rude. Doctors like this are what is destroying the health system of this country. All they care about is the money. He walked into the room, looked at my MRI for a total of 10 seconds, never once looking me in the eye. As I was asking questions he was already walking out of the room on to the next sucker. Total time spent with me was under 2 minutes. He should have is license removed. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, like Dr. Anthony Milea who is super nice and spends time with his patients because he CARES about them, unlike the horrible Dr. Seldes.

Dr Richard Seldes and his staff ARE A JOKE. They are rude, and both times I went it was over an hour wait for a 5 minute visit. I went for an ankle injury and he didn’t even look at my ankle and wanted me to have surgery in NEW JERSEY. When I inquired about another place in NYC that could do it he danced around it because he didn’t want me to go elsewhere. His staff was none too friendly either. I was just a big $$$$ sign to him. I sought out a second and third opinion and it turns out cortisone shots were all I needed!
Rude, unprofessional and wanted me to have surgery when I didn’t need it. Don’t go there. Ever. EVER.
