Was referred to this facility by a school counselor. When I left my school counselor I was motivated, positive, and felt good. The first sign that IPTAR was not a good facility was the intake and set up. They paired me with an African American woman which I felt was simply because I was black. To make a long negative story short. I left IPTAR depressed and on the verge of suicide. Booth did nothing to help me. She sat across from me and just listened and never intervened to ask questions or provide some insight. She saw my condition deteriorating and did nothing. Finally after I attempted to cut myself she referred me to a clinic. I felt as though she wanted me to be institutionalized. I went back to my former therapist in Brooklyn and after a seat down with her I felt so much better. Ms. Booth did nothing to help prevent my downward spiral. Thank goodness I am now seeing a professional who has been advising me and really working WITH ME. Ms. Booth did not work with me she listened and never interjected. I could tell her I was going to kill myself and all she did was sat across me nodding. If I did not leave IPTAR I would be dead.

Really, really not recommended.
This is the person who was assigned to me for my intake interview for psychoanalysis through IPTAR.
Dr. Bowtie was condescending and incompetent. In the short time that I spoke with him, he undermined everything that I said about myself, suggested that I drop out of my Ph.D. program, said that I shouldn’t go to school on student loans (!!!) and that the economy is «getting better» and that there is no reason why I shouldn’t be able to find a job (!!!).
At the end of my enlightening chat with him, he said that he felt that I was «too unstable» for psychotherapy and that I should try
to meet other lonely people like myself!
Two days later, he left a message on my voicemail that said something about how he forgot to ask me if I use drugs or alcohol, and that he didn’t think that I did, that I didn’t look like I did, but that he needed to know to complete my intake form!!!
He’s a Ph. D !!!
