Padma Tibetan Handicrafts

Between Washington Square Park and SoHo, I found this shop and had to go in just based on the name. Exactly what I expected and it was amazing. Small, but full of print tees and home decorations, as well as a whole wall of wrist Mala. I can find anything with the ohm symbol, but its rare to find something with a Buddhist phrase that translates roughly into «the jewel in the lotus». This store has shirts and decorations with it and the man behind the counter knew the rough translation and he also knew what it really meant. He was incredibly kind and super knowledgeable about everything in the store.
After getting a drink, we returned to get two wrist Mala. The man remembered us, then helped us pick out the right kind that we were looking for. He even knew the meanings behind the colors, woods, and designs of each bracelet. (I took a peek at the book he was reading– Buddhist prayer text-​awesome).
An authentic store that should be visited at least once.
