This is a great place for me to get my hair done because of the quality and the hair stylist Fernando who you can tell really cares about his clients. He puts in alot of effort/compassion into my hair to make it look the best. I like how he pays attention to every detail. I also notice how Fernando, also supports the others who do the mani/pedi by reminding me and others how great they are and talks me into getting one every time. I also love how i can walk in and not have to wait. Since retiring I get to know the best times to come. Have been away for a time and will be returning. Nicole–

I went to a different address 318 E 78. Just got my very damaged hair cut and blown out by Fernando. Thank you!!! I needed a cut so bad. I had low expectations because he’s so cheep but to my surprise he’s excellent and fast. I’m going back for Keratin next time. Bonus: I love my mani/pedi which I always get there. This is a one stop shop thank you!

Fernando is FaBuLoUs! He is talented and takes his time to ensure you look amazing before leaving his chair. He can look at your face and tell you what shape and style would look best. I have very SHORTHAIR and I always get compliments on my cut. I have followed Fernando around Manhattan for about 8 years and we are to the point where I just sit in his chair and he gets straight to work. I completely trust him and so should you! Fernando is FaBuLOuS!

Fernando is the best! I have gone in for several blowouts and always get such compliments. I have sent several friends to Fernando and they all rave as well. He is quick and super friendly! I have very thick curly hair and he always manages to get it blown out straight and shiny in about 15 minutes. My hair NEVER looks better than it does after I’ve seen Fernando!

I have been coming to see Fernando for my hair cuts and blow outs for over a year…, he is everything a girl could want in a hairdresser. Best haircut, best blow dry. A real GEM. I suggest that now that the cat is out of the bag you call ahead to make an appointment.

I almost don’t want to write this review because I don;t want other people to find out about how wonderful Fernando is, but he deserves the compliment on Unilocal. His blowouts are by far the best I have ever had, and recently I have had him cut and style my hair as well, and love it. I used to go downtown and pay $ 200 plus for a haircut and blowout, but never again. He’s great.

After moving to the city from Brooklyn I was so sad thinking that I would never be able to find an affordable place to get an AFFORDABLE and GOOD wash and blow dry… Well boy was I wrong?! To my surprise and great pleasure and fortune I found the most wonderful hairdresser Fernando, only 1 block away, who I have been going to weekly. He is such a great stylist(and person) all around, that I now have him cut color and style my hair(long wavy and frizzy) … ladies in the area, I can’t recommend him enough… if you haven’t come, you’re missing out! :-) He’s there Wed to Sat and takes walk-ins.

Fernando where have you been all these years! I recently found this place looking for a location that did cheap shellac on the UES… something that is unheard of in this part of the city. Granted the store could really lose the ugly advertisement outside and shell out of an actual nice awning but the inside is up to standards(well maybe it could use a little touching up). The chairs for getting a pedicure are amazing and strong. The shellac manicure last a little more than 2 weeks, which is nice. The girls that are doing the pedi/mani’s do need a lesson in American etiquette but the price speaks of its self. But what makes this place exceptional is Fernando! Fernando is the hair stylist. When I first walked in I was weary of getting my hair blown out by him but after watching 4 or 5 people walk into the store to see him, I realized there must be something to all of this. Long story short my hair looked amazing. I’ve been back to Fernando a few times and even let him dye my hair. Its nice to actually get a bargain and pay the same price I used to when I lived upstate. I agree with other reviews that they could upgrade their shampoo, so it didn’t remind the customers of cleaning products but Fernando is amazing and I would recommend him to anyone. One thing I will mention is this is not a top 10 salon, so if your looking for that type of service, you’ve come to the wrong place.

My sister dyed the underneath of my hair blue. The result was interesting to say the least. As temporary dyes do, the color started to fade. So before going away to college I wanted to go back to my dark brown hair color. I went to Fernando expecting him to do a good job, and he did! My haircut was fantastic and my blue hair was gone and matched my natural hair perfectly! Awesome place!

I am a personal trainer and I run about 60 miles a week so I was looking for an inexpensive mani /pedi to pamper my sore hands and feet. This one did the job well. It was like 21 dollars and I tipped like 10. The girl Yan was very nice and I dozed off a couple times while she was giving me both treatments. Very gentle. It’s not super fancy inside nor is it decorated well but the massage chairs work very well and are relaxing. I will go here again. It was a great bang for my dollar.

I was headed for my usual nail salon(Nailscure) when I got caught in the middle of a thunderstorm. Luckily, I was across the street from Metro Spa and saw the big sign for $ 25 mani/pedis. Decided to check it out to avoid the rain and so glad I did. The place opened up 2 months ago. There is a large selection of mostly Essie polish with 2 rows of OPI as well. It wasn’t crowded for a weekend which was nice since I didn’t have to wait. The massage chairs worked well and the service was not rushed. The space mostly caters to nail sevices, however they also have 2 stations if you want to get your hair done and it looked like there are rooms in the back for facials, massages and waxing. With all the nail salons on the upper east, I’m hoping this place survives. It’s not a luxury salon by any means, but for a $ 25 mani/pedi, it’s perfect for my needs.
