Handyman At Your Service

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They totally ripped us off and left holes all in our drywall. They installed 3 exhaust fans to blow into my wall instead of the exhaust pipe. I really wish i NEVER used them.

I called this company to put up two window blinds. They did not give me a price over the phone and instead said that they charged a $ 49 fee to come out on a Sunday. When I asked about the price for the actual service, the quoted me $ 145, which seemed extremely steep but I just wanted it to get done. They did a fine job, but when the guy was finished installing them he demanded cash and charged $ 145 for each blind when they knew I had two and quoted me $ 145 over the phone. All told the service was $ 369 to put up two blinds. I also called his superior and told him that the guy hadn’t been at my apartment more than 20 minutes and I did not think that amount of work warranted that price and the superior told me that he ran the clock for this job up to 1 hour and 27 minutes. Ridiculous.

Avoid at all costs– I used this company to install my air conditioning unit and it was going to be $ 125, which is very expensive but I figured they would do a professional job and it was 90 degrees in my bedroom and no one else would return my calls– I couldn’t wait. First of all they got to my apartment 3 hours late and when the job was done demanded 167 dollars because of a hidden «labor fee» and that I pay in cash, and offered no receipt. Very sketchy– do not use them.

I called because my washing machine was broken. They quoted me $ 175 and explained it was probably a clogged drainage tube. It was. But when they guy left, he told me it would be $ 425.00. Then he came back and said his boss told him it would be $ 475. Then he told me I had to make the check out to «Cash» it was a total scam but I was alone in my home and afraid. But I’m writing this so you can avoid my mistake. They hardly hid the fact it was a shakedown. The guy seemed nice at first, but it quickly became horrible. Buy a new machine before dealing with these people.
I’ll never call again and advise you not to call in the first place.

This company was awful — do not use them. I wanted to install dimmers on the light switch in my apartment and told them I wanted 4. They quoted me $ 75. When they arrived, they changed the price to $ 75/​each, plus an additional $ 29 fee just for showing up, which they didn’t mention to me when I spoke with them over the phone.
They then didn’t know how to install the dimmers properly — they didn’t fit into the space and they told me I needed a different cover. But when I called the company that made the dimmers, they told me how to make them fit, just by removing a piece on the side of each dimmer. This company claims to have electrician experience but didn’t even know how to install the equipment! They also damaged the wall around the light switches, leaving a hole that you can still see even with a cover on.
They couldn’t make the 4^th dimmer fit into the space (because they didn’t know how!) and so I told them to forget it. Then they had the gall to charge me for four dimmers when they only installed three. When I tried to explain the situation to the company’s manager, he cut me off and told me to give the phone back to the handyman, saying that if I didn’t pay the full price for all 4 dimmers, they would dock the poor handyman’s salary the difference!
Do yourself a favor and find a different company!

Lou HInman runs a decent handyman service. He arrived on time and did a satisfactory job. GIven that others were non responsive and often late and doing slacker work, it was great to know that he would show up when he said and do the job right.
We had him install a shelf in our closet and add another level of poles; hang a kitchen light and a pot rack. He charges $ 125 an hour which is a bit steep but its Manhattan and when you can’t do stuff yourself… well you pay.
Overall, he will get the job done but expensive and slow.
