I only go here when I’m broke, at Hunter, and need food. The rice tastes like prepackaged crap, they give you huge chunks of gross chicken that has no flavor, also sometimes they don’t even heat up the chicken or rice on the grill they just give you pre cooked chicken and rice that’s been sitting out for god knows how long. After the guy serving me said ‘WHATKINDOFSAUCEDOYOUNEED’ in the most annoyed tone I got completely turned off. The food should at least be good for the people serving it to have so much attitude.

This cart really changed wow. Went here when I was around Hunter college after not eating here for 2 years. The lamb was dry and void of taste, the rice was whack and the sauce was weak. What happened guys! Disappointed.

Now, I’m picky when it comes to which Halal cart I order food from because they can range from extremely good to horrible. I love Halal food and it was such a convenient location I decided to give it a try. The first time I got chicken over rice with white sauce and hot sauce and it was absolutely delicious, especially the rice. Only minus was that when I asked for a little bit of extra white sauce the guy literally doused it. first time I’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of white sauce on my food. Why the one-star? The second time I came here(same stuff) the chicken was HORRIBLE. It was badly undercooked with tons of disgusting fat. I took a few bites(I was hungry with no extra cash!) and threw the rest away for fear that I would die the next day. Never again.

Parked right outside of Hunter College and luckily near my work, this place is a prime spot for business. Their prices are slightly cheaper than the one on Madison and 72nd. For a lamb gyro with red and white sauce(gotta have it!) it’s $ 4.50. Not bad in my book! I always love a little bit of extra«red» and they certainly obliged. The sandwich was delicious. One thing I LOVE about these carts is their speed! Wowza. They can whip up a sandwich in about 5 minutes.(There should be a contest/competition or something in the UES… all I’m sayin’. That would be awesome.) These guys are super nice here. Thanks for the delicious meal!

Just bought the lamb gyro for $ 5.50 and it is so delicious and juicy! Yummm. There’s usually a long line, but the wait isn’t that long. Like all of the other reviewers comments, the guy working there is super nice!

This cart used to be my main source of sustenance and nourishment during my days in Hunter. Situated right outside of the North Building, this Halal cart is at an extremely convenient location for students to get tasty morsels from during long days filled with lectures. The main man at the stand is very friendly and amicable, a nice change of pace from the gruff guys you would find in other halal stands. It was a pleasure chatting with him as he prepared my food; he was a really nice man and he made wondrous filling food. The food is very very good. For $ 6(I’m not sure if the price changed since I’ve been there) you can get a huge hunk of gyro sandwich with warm fresh pita, juicy tender lamb slices, random veggies and as much«white and red sauce» as your heart desires. The white sauce was so creamy and went very well with the seasoned well prepared lamb. The lamb over rice is also great and very filling. Constantly munching on the gyros here is what made me fat. Fat and poor. But how can you resist such delicious comforting food?

Seriously I think it’s one of the most amazing falafels I have ever eaten. Four bucks and the guy is super nice. Grabbed it on my way to class and have been thinking about it ever since.

I love this cart right in front of Hunter College!(Pretty sure it’s now called the Roadside Grill) –The dude is really friendly and always has a smile on his face. He calls everyone«sir» and«miss.» So polite! –The falafel is nice and crunchy on the outside. –The salad is made with nice fresh veggies, so you actually want to eat it, unlike most halal carts in my experience, that give you a few little soggy pieces of browning iceberg lettuce. –The sauces are bomb.(I guess the hot sauce is a little boring but the tahini and tzatziki sauces are great, and salad dressing is good too) –Fast service Thank you smiling roadside grill man!

Meh it was alright. I generally have tried much much better. AHEMAHEM, sammys. But it was alright. I eat the lamb over rice and it was pretty good. The rice was eh. And the lamb was kinda soggy but had amazing flavor. It’s an easy get since it’s so close to school and the guys there don’t actually hit on you like the ones down the block between lex and 3rd. But their lamb wasn’t as crispy as the other cart although the flavor surpassed it by far. And their white sauce was BANGIN! Their hot sauce was ketchup based. I could taste it. 2 stars for presentation and soggyness. 3rd star was for flavor and the yummy white sauce. Yay for cheap greasy food

I got their combo(chicken and lamb) over rice twice. Didn’t like it. The lamb was soggy and the rice tasted worse than Uncle Ben’s rice. Never got anything from them besides the combo rice so can’t really say more about their food.

This cart on the sidewalk next to the North building of Hunter College campus is actually pretty good! My falafel sandwiches are always crunchy, tasty, full of fresh veggies and good sauces, and it only costs $ 4. The guys are friendly enough, and it always smells really good! There’s usually no line, except for sometimes around lunch, but even then, it’s only like five people. In short, I am a fan.
