This was exactly what we needed. It was the end of a normal work day and my buddy and I heard about this. We bought tickets, did some pregame partying and headed in. The wait was a little long and it was hot but the show was worth it. We were scared and constantly screwed with. The drinks weren’t bad and the fed up shots in between shows. It was raining on the roof when we got to heaven and everyone came up to dance and play with us. I recommend it for anyone looking for a good time in an adult playground.

Boring and amateurish. The crowd consisted almost entirely of older tourists and middle management types. The acts are few, short, and uninspired. Not only do I wish I had my money back, I wish I had my time back! The music is terrible, too. It’s what you’d expect to find at a low end wedding reception… NOT a nightclub in NYC! This isn’t worth attending unless you can get in for free and use it as a place to wait for your friends to meet up with you so you can go elsewhere and party! Mandatory expensive coat check. This place is basically just set up to take your money. Save your time, you’d have more fun and more scares wandering a dark alley in Bushwick.

I’m glad I got to go to Club Purgatorio for free, because that was about how much it was worth. My friends and I received free tickets to this«event» on their opening night. Needless to say, they were ill-prepared. Had to wait outside in the rain at least 30 minutes before entering, even though their website said to arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to your ticketing time. Once inside, we were forced to use the coat check. «$ 4 an item PLUSTIP» the girl yelled. I gave her a $ 5. She did not give me my $ 1 back. I gave up as I was escorted to by some strange zombie man with a unibrow to the free«absinthe» table. No thanks. This is where they separate your group by distracting you. A unibrowed staffer escorts you down a hallway and you are pushed into a coffin(actually quite effective and the best part of the whole experience!) spun around multiple times and land into a mirrored funeral parlor of sorts where you can buy an outrageously overpriced drink, or watch some strange act where some girl strips. After this you are lead to another level with half naked girls dancing and more outrageously expensive drinks. No one really knew what to do here, so most guests just stared at the dancing naked girls. I left before Heaven opened, my group and I waited at least 45 minutes for it to open, but alas… I really couldn’t stand idle in here one more minute. If this is what Purgatory is really like, I’m going to start going to church more often.

I first heard of this club when Perez Hilton talked about being at its première. After checking out the Purgatorio website, I decided this place was going to be different and fun. The prices on the weekends are $ 10 more than the weekdays, but that didn’t deter me. After paying a total of $ 55 we were taken into the«funeral parlor» where there was a gogo dancer in her 60s on a stripper pole. We were given a shot of «blood»(red wine) to drink and then put into coffins, spun around, and ended up in a room of mirrors. Once the show was ready in the Purgatory room, we watched(for less than 20 minutes) a woman in a corset sing, a man in a speedo play with 5 hula hoops, and then a Japanese man who could dance and do «tricks». When that was over, we went up to Heaven(3rd floor) where a transvestite sang«Like a Virgin». The 3rd floor also had a nice patio outside — which was the nicest part of the club. Overall, a HUGEDISAPPOINTMENT. The website is misleading. I described everything there is, and nothing was worth all of that money, time, and effort. Apparently, other people got word of this, so don’t expect this place to be crowded.

This club is not just a club. This is a club/haunted house! Regular ticket prices are $ 40 – 60, and VIP prices are $ 60 – 80 up to the dates and times. I had a friend with free tickets, but they were not VIP tickets so we had to stay on line in the rain last night. There were 4 – 5 staffs taking tickets and exchange them to blue tickets. The club actually didn’t care of the staffs because they all had broken umbrellas or nothing in the rain. Seriously? Hm. After 20 – 30 minutes waiting, we finally got in. What were waiting for us? scary looking staffs, dark lights, bloody paint all over the walls, and blinking lights in the restrooms.(the lights really hurt your eyes, so be careful!) Coat check-in was for $ 3, handbag was for $ 4. Once you get in, you will experience scary things for about 5 minutes. The club has 3 floors; Hell, purgatory, and heaven. You will see some intro show in hell. And if you are straight men, you will love the 2nd floor, purgatory. :D lots of shows and performance were going on! 3rd floor which is heaven was ok. The thing is that there was supposed to be the last performance at 12 in purgatory, and after that people go up to heaven and dance! For some reason we had to leave earlier than that, so we went up to heaven early, and it was kinda boring up there; 3 angels or fairies were dancing and actually no one joined them. Hm Hm. My friends and I tried to dance with them but no fun. :( If you want to experience a new type of club, you must visit here!
