I run out of my office building and into this place when I’m starving and don’t want to walk around in the search of food. When I come here I always get a panini. They have a variety of sandwiches and wraps. There are many other deli items there. I always enjoy my panini that comes with chips or salad.

Worst place to have breakfast or buy anything in general EVER, avoid it!!! All cooks and cashiers are extremely rude. They will not make you what you order, and when you nicely ask them to give you your order they will be very rude to you. PLUS place is overpriced as hell, prices are TWICE more then any other place. Avoid it!!!

Good food but the staff can be quite rude sometimes. Listen guys I understand you’re always busy and don’t really need my money(as dumb as that sounds its what they make you feel like) but learn some hospitality. If your life sucks because you’ve been flipping eggs for a few years doesn’t mean you need to be nasty toward your customers. Thanks but I’d rather just get my breakfast at the corner cart guys and see someone smiling in the morning. This is New York, lighten up or you’ll be miserable forever

Following dinner my date and I wondered to 47th Street and 6th Avenue to follow the MTA green globes but in our passing we were engrossed by Big Apple Deli’s Gelato displayed in their glass case facing the street. Sweet time! We requested one small cup of vanilla gelato to be shared for two. The vanilla bean gelato was fragrant and average quality. Customer service is Blah. This deli contains no seating indoors.

Try their banana or strawberry pancakes! Get them delivered or take out. There is no sitting((. Breakfast place to take out. Lunch and salads are not so good.

Best breakfast wraps around the area. Fresh, fast and the line cooks get it right every time. Lunchtime is full of large portions, good variety and the salad station has just about everything u could possibly want on a salad, with fresh greens and toppings. Can’t go wrong here as the prices are very decent especially for the area. All the little pretentious Pret type places around have bigger tabs and smaller portions

The place is deceitful. lacks basic integrity I ordered on Seamless and patiently waited for 1h. Then I call to inquire when the deliver would arrive. The person, after I telling him the Order code 3 times, claimed that there was no such order from me! Giving him the benefit of doubt, I called up Seamless web customer service. The lady was very helpful and called up Big Apple. Guess what, only 37 seconds after she put me on hold, she resumed our call and told me —- Big Apple said that they will make the order and send it out ASAP OK. I think it is pretty clear what they try to do here. Would you still order from a place with no integrity??? SHAME on YOU

The deli looks fine but the manager is terrible. I went there for work, made me work for 4 hours and never call back to say anything. How does such people run the business? No courtesy at all

Working across the street, Big Apple is the go-to for a quick grab-n-go lunch. The salad bar and hot and cold sandwiches are very decent.

Found this place on Unilocal in a rush to get breakfast. Got the pollo wrap, which had chicken, eggs, avocado, and more for only $ 5. Really filling(and healthy) wrap! NOTE: $ 5 minimum purchase to use credit card.

I walked with my coworkers to McDonalds, but nothing there appealed to me. I really wanted a grilled cheese! Usually I go to one of the delis on 44th, but when I saw this one right next door, I decided to err on the side of convenience. This is a nice looking deli, with a decent hot bar and wide selection of sandwiches. I didn’t see grilled cheese on the menu, but asked for it and got it. Some of the food in the steamers looked a little sketchy. I don’t really know what a filet of sole is supposed to look like, but unless it’s «transparent hunks in gefilte fish goo,» I think something was very wrong. When I saw them putting together my grilled cheese, I was annoyed. Neither cheese nor bread looked cooked. But clearly this was some wizard’s trick, because when I got back to the office I was granted with the cheesiest sandwich this side of Wisconsin. Actually, that’s an insult to Wisconsin, because that fabulous state makes real cheese, and nothing in this sandwich was natural. The cheese was a perfect neon orange slab, about an inch thick. The bread was whatever brand people use when WonderBread seems a little too«granola,» and I don’t think they used butter, but some sort of lard that hardened to a crispy shell. The bread was just turning golden in the middle – most likely due to absorption of other mysterious products from the grill. And really, I can’t emphasize the amount of cheese – I was choking on it! It may sound like I’m describing a terrible experience, but I assure you: this was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve had in a while. If I want some fancy grilled cheese with fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes, I’ll go and get that somewhere else. But this was a spot-hitting comfort food, a perfect complement to a drizzly day and lousy work week. The only reason I’m not giving more stars is because you can find delis like this all over the darn place, and nothing about Big Apple really stood out beyond a sandwich that was only good because it wasn’t so great. It took a while for someone to take my order, even though I was standing at the counter for a while and they weren’t that busy. I had to flag someone down from the cold-sandwich counter. Credit cards at over $ 5.

I would go in here every Saturday morning with the same order, and every Saturday morning, they would find a new way to screw it up. It wasn’t a complicated order, mind you, and the funny thing is, I began repeating important the parts of the order so they would not screw it up(no cheese, turkey bacon, not regular bacon, hot sauce…) and they would seem incredulous that I would repeat myself, even after they would mess it up! I won’t return to Big Apple unless I’m getting a bagel with cream cheese — something simple that they can’t screw up.

I love their $ 6.99 medium chopped salad with unlimited toppings. Don’t be shy with the toppings. I’m glad its half a block from my office.

I eat breakfast from this place every work day. Great food for the price and they have different breakfast wraps that are all tasty. I would recommend the healthy pollo if you don’t have an idea of what to get.

I love Big Apple Deli! I work nearby and I come here almost every other day, if not every day for some meal. Their breakfasts are amazing, who I believe is the head chef is super friendly and helpful, and their lunch selections are amazing! Great lunch deals too with killer Waffle Fries for around $ 8.00…not bad for this area ATALL. I’m sure their snacks are a bit pricey, and cookies, but all the delis around here jack you on those things. Go here for breakfast or lunch and you wont be disappointed!

I stop in here just about every day. Not because the food is great. Not because the floors are impeccably clean, and the atmosphere is great. Not because the coffee is even that good. It’s another NYC dirty deli. So why do I come here almost every day? One reason, and one reason only. They get your order right. I don’t have to repeat my order to the line cooks, and the women at the register know my coffee order better than I do. In fact, it seems like they can sense when I am hungover, and pour me a large instead of my normal small. This type of customer service may not sound like much, but I think most of you that have live and worked in the city for awhile understand where I’m coming from. Half awake on your way to work in the morning, you hardly want to remove your earbuds. Here you don’t even have to…

Mixed. True, it’s the best non-chain deli within a 5 minute walk. The soups are incredibly cheap($ 3 lobster bisque including tax?!), the breakfast specials come with free drinks and the custom wraps are packed with food. But the premade sandwiches/wraps taste frozen, they are incredibly inconsistent about whether their stuff comes with chips/pickle/pasta salad/some random gunk and I swear they make up the prices of the hot food on the spot. Better than Pret, Europa, Metro etc if you’re in a rush.

Great breakfast selection, great lunch specials, fast service and the only reasonable non-chain deli on Sixth Avenue in that few block stretch near 47th Street. Resist the urge to go to Pret a Manger one block away. You get more variety and bang for your buck at Big Apple!

This is my morning egg-sandwich hot spot. In and out in no time with speedy short order cooks and friendly faces at the registers who remember how you like your coffee.
