Everything from the food to the service was great. I went with a large group so was able to try various items on the menu. The only thing I didn’t love was the steak(too salty), but everything else was impeccable. I was especially impressed by the service; even the manager repeatedly came by to check in on us.

We had a great dinner here tonight… charceutetie, lentil fritters, jumbalaya and the lamb loin chops. Christine was an amazing server… ask for her! The food was severely well balanced, flavorful and enjoyable. A definite plus in our book. We will be back.

The egg sandwich comes on a wood plank– with a small iron kettle filled with potatoes with the perfect crispy soft ratio. A chipotle sauce that’s homemade– f#cking delicious! My boyfriend and I kept tripping over ourselves to the staff that we haven’t been in sooner. Did I mention the homemade bread? The whole farm-to-table thing works here with hearty food to boot. The food was so damn yummy when the chef came out(a woman!) we acted like silly, stuffed groupies. We decided to skip lunch and come back for dinner. Cheeseburgers with aged cheddar. The ambient music is also very chill and jazzy. We ordered the house special banana bread– better than mom’s(sorry).

We went here for date night last night and were very impressed! Came in and we were seated promptly. Every single thing we ordered was delicious! The burrata cheese with pea tendrils was different but delicious. Carrot anthology(carrots 12 ways) was amazing! Skirt steak with fries and the fried chicken; both delightful. The fries were some of the best I’ve ever had. My only complaint is that none of the desserts sounded very good, so we ended up getting ice cream elsewhere. Also, the margarita I ordered was just OK. Too much lime. Overall, great place for date night! Service was fantastic as well.

We met friends at Manhattan House for a casual dinner and we were blown away by the service, the garden-to-table food and decadent drinks! We ended up hangin out for hours and hours– we just didn’t want to leave! The owner also came by to introduce himself and gave us some background on the restaurant and chef. They grow their own food in a community garden to ensure the freshest, seasonal ingredients. All the more reason to eat there! We’ll def be back and encourage anyone in the area to check it out.

Love the concepts and innovation coming out of the kitchen. Such a unique and exciting menu, Just had«Chef D’s Fried Chicken» The other night and was blown away, huge thigh and leg fried to perfection with the most delicious flakey and crispy crust. You can taste the quality and creativity in every dish. My other favorites include the Grilled Lamb Meatballs, the Spring Salad and the Jambalaya is so rich and full of flavor. Bravo! My mouth is watering just writing this review

And just found out my uncles fried chicken was kind of RAW!!! I’m sorry but I’m still gonna have to unfortunately eat.

Absolutely love the environment here! It’s so diverse, from young folks to senior folks. The restaurant really attempts to tie in the community in the surrounding area– customer wise and also ingredient wise from local farmers. All the staff are extremely knowledgeable of items on menu– this is a huge plus for me. We especially enjoyed Jennifer’s company(at the bar), she is so welcoming and just positive. We tried the lamb meatballs, mushroom toast, and buttermilk fried chicken. The fried chicken, one of the best fried chicken by far. You must try the fried chicken here! I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The portions are not big for the price, but the quality is definitely worth it. They have happy hour from 5 – 6:30!

Excellent food. Nice ambience and décor. Bad service. I’ll start with the delicious food currently in my tummy! Portion wise we were told these were tapas but the dishes we ended up ordering were much larger. Thus we were pretty full after only 3 dishes. GRILLEDLAMBMEATBALLS — 15 If I could have a big bowl of these I would definitely eat it all! These were absolutely scrumptious! The meatballs were perfectly charred on the outside but still rare inside. A great balance of spice with the flavorful juicy lamb. Along with the fresh goat cheese covered in herbs and crispy farroh salad it made for a perfect beginning to our meal. WILDMUSHROOMTOAST — 16 I love me some shiitakes! This was a wonderful mix of large and small shiitakes, some grated cheese, and a gravy like sauce over this perfectly toasty thick cut sourdough bread. I was savoring every little bite. Only complaints are that it was over salted and the mushrooms could’ve been cut into smaller piece as the larger mushroom pieces can’t be bitten. I would end up having to eat the entire mushroom piece all at once. CHEF D’S FREERANGEBUTTERMILKFRIEDCHICKEN — 18 Warning this dish take about 25 minutes to make. It comes out piping hot fresh and is amazing mouth watering yummy. Two large pieces(thigh and drumstick) of juicy chicken with a very crispy thin battered skin. There’s honey on the skin too to add a bit of sweetness which is really nice to offset the salt. If they just sold chicken skin as a dish this way it would definitely sell! On the side a big hunk of cornbread with a smokey chili honey butter. Yes I wanted to just eat all the butter. AMBIENCE/DECOR Open and a good mix of gastropub/beachy feel. They have these big leather booths in a line, mostly wooden tables mixed through the center, and then some smaller 2 seaters crammed closer together alongside one wall. It wasn’t full on a weekday night and we were able to sit at a 4 top and have a lot more space than at a 2 top. There are pots of succulents smattered throughout and some cute décor items like a mini fire escape hanging on the wall. SERVICE Our mid-week pick up dinner started out well with our easy going server. Our meatballs came pretty quickly and then it went downhill from there. There was a very long time between courses without any check up or update from our server. After about 25 minutes we flagged him down to ask about our food. Turns out the fried chicken takes at least 25 minutes. This information he neglected to tell us when we ordered the dish. To compound that, he has also included the mushroom toast with the chicken as a course. Our toast arrived soon after, then the chicken. All in all, it took more than 30 minutes between courses. Furthermore, to try to give our server the benefit of the doubt that perhaps he had just forgotten to tell us, I mentioned to him that it would have been nice to have been told that the fried chicken would take at least 25 minutes when we ordered. He replied simply with«ok» and promptly walked away. Needless to say, we declined the dessert menu when it came to that time. YAY? NAY? Loved the food and would like to come back to Manhattan House, but with service like that, it’ll be some time before I consider it again.

YOOOo I wish this place was open for lunch lol. I started working in Manhattan Beach so I’m like a mile ish away from here! But anyway… until then. dinner and drinks will have to do. Came here with 2 other dudes, and we ate kind of a lot lol. So we ordered an entrée each, and shared the lamb meatballs and wild mushroom toast. I got the halibut entrée(I think? I could be wrong about the type of fish but it was a white fish lol), and my friends got the fried chicken and burger. Chicken was tiiiits. OK. The lamb meatballs were bOMB… but not enough of it lol. We shared it between us 3 so basically we got one ball each lol. But it’s ok cos I had to save room for all the other foods. The meatballs come with some kind of cheese and sauce and some. other stuff LOL honestly I don’t really know. Just make sure to get all of it in one bite and your tastebuds will thank you. My fish entrée was exploding with flavors. I don’t even know what they put on it, but it had potatoes, CLAMS(omg yes delicious), and like a bunch of different sauces on it. Super flavorful, but it was also a light dish! Maybe that’s cos it’s fish lol. There’s also a nice crusty piece of toasted sourdough that you can use to sop up the sauces/broth… amazing. LASTLY… my favorite was the wild mushroom toast. It’s actually pretty big, like if I had to eat the whole thing by myself… not sure I can lol. It’s cut into 3 slices so good to share also. The bread is sourdough, toasted and topped with a huge pile of different types of mushrooms, cooked in some sort of creamy CHEEESY sauce! I suggest you get this!!! If you like cheese, and/or mushrooms, and/or bread, and/or good food. order it. I think the food is spectacular, as I explained in the above three rambling paragraphs. And I believe they make most of their stuff in-house(like the sourdough bread I think), and just straight up farm to table, so everything is SUPER fresh. The quality of the food is great, and you can tell. Our bartender/server Jenn(we ate at the bar) was awesome, super helpful with drink and food selections when we were lost lol. I didn’t order any cocktails but the beers were good! I tried a few of the ones they had on tap, and mm this sour one(I forgot the name of. typical) was yumz. SO. ya I also heard they started doing brunch, so if I’m ever in the area for brunch… I’ll definitely be there! Or if they start doing lunch… I’ll be there too lol.

Manhattan House is an excellent farm to table addition to the South Bay dining scene. Just west of Sepulveda, the MB Blvd. location is easy to get to and access. I love that they have a parking lot with extra parking on the street and in the lot across the street. The restaurant is casual but very attractive — a large fireplace is warm and inviting, the edison lights provide a nice glow, and the butcher block tables and booths/chairs are very of the moment. The chalkboard specials and the ample bar area complete the fun atmosphere. The service is very good — knowledgeable and professional while being fairly tuned in to the needs of the table. The food is fantastic — I highly recommend sharing plates to maximize your tastes. We ordered a grilled cheese up front for the LO($ 8) — thick slices of housemade sourdough bread are grilled with a sharp, white cheddar cheese for a sophisticated sandwich that even adults would enjoy. It was followed by our amuse bouche — a bacon ball, which is a deep fried ball of minced bacon and sharp, white cheddar. OMG. These were delicious, and a great way to make me want to come for brunch. I also loved the edible flowers used for garnish! We ordered: Pastrami Toast: sourdough is topped with mustard, pastrami, sauerkraut and melted cheese. It was cut into 3 pieces, each of which we cut into half to share. Its okay; the sourdough here is good but its tough and hard to eat in this way. I would not order this again. Sausage Roll:(avail at brunch) a log of sausage(1.5″ diameter and 2″ long) is rolled in croissant dough and baked; served with honey butter and a little mustard sauce. This was very good — the sausage is moist and well seasoned and the croissant dough is browned and flakey. The sweet honey butter was an excellent accompaniment. Grilled Ramps: I had to order them because it is hard to find ramps in the grocery store(they get theirs at SM Farmer’s Market). This dish was excellent — halved ramps are grilled until charred and served atop wonderful grits and a bunch of roasted cherry tomatoes. The smokey onion flavor pairs wonderfully with the sweet and juicy tomatoes that have just a hint of tart and the sweet and creamy polenta.(But I now know that ramps and scallions are indistinguishable once charred and served.) Roasted Cauliflower: chilled, roasted cauliflower are tossed with slivers of celery and marinated strawberries and topped with a crunchy grain and sliced almonds and finished with a sweet and tangy vinaigrette. Another excellent dish — the cauliflower did not have my preferred char but it was very flavorful and had lots of different textures. There was salty, sweet and sour as well as soft, crunchy and firm. Carrotology: this was a good and interesting dish, but it did not live up to the hype for me. The roasted carrots were pretty woody, which is not desirable. The pickled carrots were excellent, and the carrot purée was awesome. I absolutely relished every bite of the carrot purée with a little basil lemon purée and grain salad. The shaved carrot salad with minced pistachios was good. Overall, I would not order again, but it was good. Jambalaya: a sweet and spicy tomato broth is loaded with wild rice, bell peppers, shrimp and chopped, smoked sausage. This was a very good, hearty dish. If you are sensitive to spice, you should skip it, but I love Cajun heat and this dish was wall executed. Seared Scallops: 3 perfectly seared scallops are served atop soupy risotto with pureed peas and basil and lardons of bacon and finished with Parmesan cheese. DH ordered this, and I planned on a bite. But that bite was perfection, and I insisted on eating a third of the dish. Honestly, I could have skipped the scallops — they were great but they make this a pricey dish. I would have DEVOURED a bowl of the risotto. Lentil Fritters: 3 crunchy, fried fritter balls are served in a vegan coconut tomato curry sauce with chopped kale. This was another homerun — the sauce is generous and has complex flavors(like the best Indian tomato soup ever) and the crunchy fritter balls offer texture and a meaty flavor. The chopped kale adds an earthy element that completes the dish. Must order. Burger: housemade brioche bun is smeared with house sauce and topped with a freshly ground patty cooked to a perfect medium rare, sharp white Cheddar, caramelized onions and arugula. It’s a very expensive but very good burger. Uvaggio Vermentino($ 9 for a glass): generous pour of an excellent crisp, light and bright white wine that pairs well with food. Coconut Cake: coconut flavored pound cake is topped with a quenelle of marscapone and some stewed blood oranges. Meh. It was boring and felt like bfast. Espresso Ice Cream: excellent coffee flavored ice cream with chocolate covered espresso beans. Pot d’ Crème: jarred smores that are out of this world! Rich, dark chocolate pudding with a layer of graham crackers and toasted marshmallow fluff. A+ Manhattan House is great choice!

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. WOW, WOW, WOW. Best kept secret in Manhattan Beach. Mind blown. All the food is locally sourced(cage free eggs, organic veggies) and HOMEMADE(bread, sausage, bacon, pickled veggies, orange juice). I just ate brunch there with my boyfriend and we’re obsessed. Can’t wait to try dinner. We shared the breakfast sandwich and the frittata. Each of the meals comes with a free drink, so we got bloody mary’s. There was one thing we thought was interesting and little contradicting to what they seem to be about… they have Fois Gras on their dinner menu. From what I understand about Fois Gras, the ducks and geese are force fed food to fatten them up. Seems counter to their concept. I could be wrong though. Just from what I’ve read. Anyhow, we’ll be back. *** Service and ambiance were great too! Katherine was our server. She has a great personality, was very helping, and efficient.

I really like the vibe of this place, and service was fantastic. We sat at the bar. For food, as others have said, I highly recommend the lamb meatballs. The salad that comes with has amazing texture that pairs perfectly with the juicy lamb. The beer is super cold, which is really awesome. It’s cold to begin with and then they serve it in a chilled glass. We really appreciate that and don’t take it for granted… Not every place has figured out cold beer, and we wish they would!

Oooooh YUM! My friends and I landed here on a weekday Happy Hour and made dinner out of it. Don’t sit in the booths. WAY too tiny – for sized 2 and below. So we grabbed the only large table(there were 7 of us) and made do with the cold air whipping in the door each time someone entered. Brr. The hostess was reluctantly accommodating(moving from booth, to table, to large table, when she could have just given us the large table like I asked for in the beginning). The service was spectacular(as I have some particular friends – you know the type, that want everything on the side, and this one with an extra touch of that…). The drinks were weak – even after a particular asked for more vodka in her drink, ’cause she«could taste the water.» The food was phenomenal. It was enough of us to get one of everything, so we nearly did. We liked everything but… can’t remember. The music was off the chain, and made us stay longer to enjoy the eve – thus by ordering dessert, which was also good.

Cute new gastropub that opened in Manhattan Beach where they emphasize from farm to table dishes. You can tell the care and quality that goes into a single dish that is prepared with the taste and presentation. My only concern is how small the portions are. Yeah, they are tapas and are meant to share but damn these plates are TINY! What I like most about Manhattan House is that although they are located in Downtown Manhattan Beach, they have their own small parking lot behind the restaurant. Finding parking in DMB is atrocious and everyone knows that. So coming here is much more settling than other restaurants in regards to parking your car. FOOD: Their menu changes often due to whatever is in season at the time. They always have daily specials as well, so make sure you never forget to take a look at what they are. The top of their menu is the smallest in regards to portion size and as you go down the menu, it gets bigger and bigger(apparently). To start, we got an order of their garden salad, which is made up of Maggie’s Greens, radish, avocado, parmesan, and a meyer lemon vinaigrette. The salad was really light and tangy with simple and fresh ingredients. There was barely any avocados but I liked how crisp all the vegetables were and the bright pink colors of the radishes. The greens were a little bitter in my opinion though. 3⁄5 We got their beef tartare and duck fried rice which were the specials of the night. I loved the beef tartare which was extremely tender and delicious. The meat was diced into tiny pieces and accompanied with crispy and perfectly salty potato chips 4⁄5. The duck fried rice was good too with plenty of flavorful slices of duck and a slightly charred fried rice. The fried egg on top was the perfect addition to the fried rice where gave it that smooth and silky richness. 3.5÷5 Lastly, we got the beef cheeks as something more hearty and filling. Sadly, the portion was still unbelievably tiny. The beef cheeks were incredibly tender and literally fell right apart. It was very flavorful but not overdone with the sauce and the mashed potatoes underneath were smooth and creamy. 4⁄5 I really liked this dish. I just wish there was more of it! DRINKS: They have craft cocktails here too, which is always a good sign for me. I ended up with their old fashioned which was really good. A strong whiskey taste with not too much bitters. SERVICE: They are fast! Unbelievably quick with how many people were dining in the restaurant. I loved how knowledgeable the servers were with all the local ingredients. They also use an iPad here to take your orders which is a cool take on the traditional note pad.

I loved everything about this place. The bar, the drinks, the atmosphere, the staff and the food. The food is mostly grown locally and they harvest it and use it that day/night. You could tell that was true. Each of the dishes are well prepared of quality ingredients. It’s mostly small dishes and you order a bunch of them and share. We didn’t have advanced dinner reservation and opted to sit at the bar since we didn’t want to wait for a table. Menu is not huge but has a good variety for different taste buds. We love the lamb meatballs although I think it’s a little pricey for what you got but it was really tasty. We also tried the caulfilower salad and it was so yummy. Lastly we tried the lentil fritters which was my all time favorite, so much flavor. Service is friendly and prompt and there are two lots for parking so you don’t have to worry about not finding parking. Planning to come back soon

Came here for Dine LA on a Friday night at 7:30pm. The place was crowded but not slammed. Just like Jenny L. & Amy P. below, we ordered everything off the Dine LA menu between the two of us. $ 2 for sourdough bread to start. You can skip it. It’s the same toast that comes with the burrata. They also offer brioche. I’ll try that next time. All the courses were good but pretty salty. My husband said the short ribs were a bit disappointing. I was disappointed that the beignets only had 2 biscuits. If I was working here, I’d serve the beignets with the cauliflower soup. Just combine them to make one amazing dish. We were not stuffed at the end of the meal. I regret not getting the dessert, but since the meal was pretty expensive so far… We opted out. Service was attentive… Service was great actually. We’ll be back because of the promo they’re doing for $ 15 off your order with a Dine LA receipt.

After losing my favorite Friday date night casual dining place I used trusted Unilocal to find an alternative. Looking for something close to or on PCH, Manhattan house popped up. I used open table to make a reservation and shared the new location with my date! I hit PCH and went ocean side on Manhattan Beach Blvd and saw it immediately on the right. The building is easily recognisable. It’s covered in artwork. I passed it and turned right into the alley way. Couldn’t find parking but a sign guided me to additional parking for after 6pm. Was greeted at the door by friendly staff and was glad I had a res cause the place was already quite full. Happy Hour runs from 5 till 630pm and it’s popular! Love that the menu is concise and I wanted to try it all!

Manhattan House was a phenomenal choice for dinner and drinks this week. The joint started out quite busy. We snagged the last large leather booth. These booths are so huge I felt like the rest of the restaurant disappeared. It provided a nice amount of privacy and muted the noise. This has been added as one of my top five favorite restaurants in the South Bay. It is up there with Manhattan Beach Post and Hudson House. To be honest, I cannot wait to return and have the burrata toasts again! The menu– 1. Butternut squash — the flavors were complex, creamy and delicious. I cannot wait to return to enjoy this delicious dish. A+ 2. Bacon wrapped scallops on a bed of risotto — these scallops were out of this world. I’m not sure how to say that despite being full from all the other food, I made room for these amazing gems. The scallops were perfectly cooked and each element added to the dish perfectly complimented them. 3. Burrata toasts — the bread was the perfect combination of fluffy and dense on the inside and the crust was strong, crunchy and provided stability when munching. The cheese was the best! It melted like butter in your mouth and had the most amazing flavor. Fresh tomatoes topped this perfect first layer of cheesy perfection. 4. Wild mushroom toasts — the same delicious bread as the burrata toasts with a medley of warm, marinated mushrooms. This wonderful flavor seeps into the bread. I’d recommend getting one or the other of the toasts. While my favorite was the burrata, it would be reasonable to try one on your first visit and the other on your next visit. 5. The Malbec is phenomenal here. I don’t think I will ever order another wine other than this. Each glass develops and builds on its original flavor. How does this happen? I’m not quite sure. Order a bottle– its definitely worth it! Come try Manhattan House if you haven’t yet. The service we had was great and the place cleared out pretty early during our dinner. The interior and experience was so good that I cannot imagine just doing take-out for the food since the service and interior design was such an integral part of my enjoyment of this restaurant. There are two lots for parking. Oh and the music is straight off of my high school playlist — this is an extreme plus!

Came here to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriends and we had an awesome evening! Everything was amazing– drinks, food, service were all top-notch and no disappointments throughout the evening. Started off with the Cucumber Collins which was refreshing and light. For appetizers we had the Beignets which were freshly made, crispy, buttery and savory… could have easily stuffed the plate of four in my belly. And the carrots eleven ways, definitely a nice surprise since I’ve never really been a fan but loved all the different flavor and textures. There was also this flat seed thing on the plate, very tasty when dipped in the hummus like carrot purée. My entrée was insanely good. I’ve never had black eyed peas and if I knew they were thus good, would have been stuffing my face with them years ago. The fritters were fried to crispy golden perfection and they were just floating on a plate of curry. I’d have to say that it was the best curry I’ve ever had. Just enough sweet and spicy and thickness. It was a very large portion too. Ended up with leftovers for the next morning. Love this new little gem in Mb. TJ our water was fabulous and was very friendly, attentive, animated and provided excellent service. We also met the owner Brett who was just as friendly and attentive to our needs. Highly recommend this place and can’t wait to come back!
