Ducky’s shows up near my office about twice a week. Its the one«regular» truck that I hadnt yet tried, until last week. They are hard to miss with their bright orange truck. Being my first time I’m mostly unaware of whats normally on their menu, but I settled on the shrimp Po Boy with sweet potato fries. The Po Boy was basic; roll, fried shrimp, remolade. It was pretty good, the roll was overflowing with shrimp, but I felt that the shrimp may have come from a bag. The breading was just a little to perfect for being made to order. The sweet potato fries were good. The sandwich came with a bag of chips, but since I ordered fries they suggested that I swap that for a soda, I did. Ducky’s is a welcome addition to food truck rotation, and I look forward to trying some of their other offerings

All of a sudden, right around the corner from my office has become a hot spot for food trucks in Reston. And that”s A-OK by me. Ducky’s Grub is a regular in the rotation, and it might be my favorite — by just a hair — of the ones here so far. And mainly it’s because they provide an equal quantity and quality of food for a slightly lower price. The other food trucks offer everything in the $ 8.50-$ 10 range. And Ducky’s has a lobster roll at $ 10(which I heard mixed things about from patrons) But the other sandwiches are ample paninis served with chips for $ 7. I got the«Cow Tipper» — roast beef, chedder, horseradish, perfectly grilled on nice bread with Sun Chips for $ 7. Given the cost of lunches in Reston, that’s not bad for not having to leave your office. Ducky’s is a good fit in the food truck rotation, and I’m looking forward to trying other sandwiches.

Had the Cuban panini. Tasted good. $ 7. Interested in the onion rings, but when asked, I was told they are not home made. They do advertise homemade mac n’ cheese tho.

Not sure if this is the right truck, but i just had BBQ from a truck that said Pigzly’s BBQ/Ducky’s Grub and it was awful, so i had to write on it. The mac n cheese was stuck together, and lacked cheese. It was clearly microwaved or old. Tasteless, bad. I also had a quarter rack of ribs. No smoke ring, texture was horrendous. Had to be cut apart with a knife. Slathered in sauce to hide the unseasonedness. These were probably oven cooked for a couple hours then smothered in sauce. The fat was no rendered. Ugh, horrific. On the plus side it was $ 7 for everything. They also had a bar of Tabasco/hot sauces outside. Which could be a plus, then again, what kind of BBQ truck has a bunch of hot sauces? Stand by your product. Horrible, horrible.

I have looked at the truck long enough to give it a go. I usually wait until enough Unilocal has been cooked up for reviews but there is only one other than this at the moment. I found them in Tysons Corner off of Solutions Dr. They have this thing called a Kickin Chicken that I have not tried but it sounds good. Chipolte chicken with bacon and cheese… I’m sure its good. Its a panini… I had the new offering the Shrimp Po Boy. Its always the safe bet going with something you know is simple. And simple it was. You really dont mess this kind of sandwhich up. So I will say it was good… Why Good… You have to fry the shrimp just right for a po boy… not too hard and not so soft just right and crispy on the outside tender inside. And that part was done well. At first glance Im thinking too small… I did go to Mcdonalds as I did want some fries with it. DUCKYS get some fries dude its the perfect compliment to the POBOY… Once I got the fries and mixed it in as personaly made combo with a coke did I feel satisfied. So the Po Boy was good… nice crisp shrimp on a hot dog roll with sliced carrots with roumalade sauce to which I wanted more of. All in all I will be back to try the kickin Chicken and then the pulled pork to see if it rivals my buddies the Hardy Q Truck.

It’s not on their menu, but you need to get the Muddy Pig. It’s a Nutella and Bacon Panini. I know, you’re so over bacon. And nutella. And paninis for that matter. But it’s a gorgeous Wendesday, and you’re trapped in your office. You have three deliverables due by 5pm, and 4 meetings between 1 — 7pm. Believe me… it doesn’t seem possible, but the Muddy Pig will make the magic happen. To start with, there are like a billion slices of crispy bacon(OK, not quite a billion… more like, 8 or 10), and the nutella isn’t slathered on. No, it’s judiciously applied so that it gives the smokey and salty bacon a wonderful sweetness that helps balance the entire sandwich. It’s been an hour and I’m still eating(I told you I have three deliverables due!) and the bacon is still slightly crisp and although the panini is cold, it is still so so satisfying. In addition, I got a side of the mac and cheese which was quite good and the portion was very healthy. So much so that I feel a touch of food coma creeping up on me, but hey, that’s why I have four meetings to sleep though, right? Ha! I’m going to still say that Tortuga is still my favorite sandwich/torta/panini food truck, but Ducky’s is a close runner up.
