Kirby Kerns Contractor

Kirby Kerns did a fantastic job with our new siding and trim. His crew worked efficiently and neatly. We are thrilled with the results. Kirby has previously done our skylights, roof, and gutters. Kirby is easy to work with and let us know in detail what would be involved in our project. I would highly recommend Kirby Kerns for siding and roofing needs.

I’ve been using Kirby for like 20 years. First my parents did then I had them for my house. I’ve used them for some of my customers and they all have had great experience. I will continue to use them. I have to say I’m a little shocked at some other comments on here. But nobody or business is perfect. But I’m sure there is two stories to every complaint. You get for what you pay for.

I used Kirby Kerns to replace my roof a year ago. Kirby appears to know a lot about roofing and to be a straight shooter — I believe this because a few years ago he correctly identified a leak source that two other roofers couldn’t, and fixed it for me at a reasonable price.
The roof looks nice, it keeps the rain out, and the installation was done with gusto in half a day. I was completely happy with their service.

Using Kirby for a simple gutter cleaning and simple roof repair was a frustrating experience. I attribute that mainly to disjointed and poor customer service. I set an appointment for a reason — their employee showed up early when I wasn’t home and did the work despite three calls telling them I would leave work to meet the guy. How was I supposed to verify they actually did the work contracted for? Further, there was debris all over my deck and patio door. While the company was concerned about that, I would use someone else next time who has better customer service and cleans up afterwards.

Gosh, such a bad experience with them several years ago. They had repaired a faulty corner of my rain gutter several times, and finally suggested replacing all the gutters. They gave me a quote and I said okay and gave them their 50% (?) deposit. Later, I got smart and decided to call around for other estimates, so I called Kirby Kerns to cancel. Kirby’s daughter took my call and – I thought – said she would put it on hold & for me to call back to proceed. She claims that I agreed to postpone for just a few days and call back if I did NOT want to proceed. Naturally, the crew showed up on the scheduled day, but I was there and able to stop them. After a heated discussion with Kirby’s daughter – backed up by one of their employes (surprise!) I got a little of my deposit refunded.
Here’s the kicker: when the owner of Action Sheet Metal came out to give my the estimate, he asked why I was planning to replace perfectly good gutters that were only a few years old!!! They just needed to be straightened and rehung in a couple of places.
I felt that Kirby Kerns’s employe took advantage of a new homeowner and led her to believe that her gutters were in need of (expensive) replacement instead of (cheap) repair. I would never deal with them again and I recommend that any phone conversations with them be carefully documented.
