Bring back waffle wich. This is torture. If you’re just going to serve cookies, at least take down the waffle wich signs. I liked the Brie one so much it hurts.

Very long lines. Not worth the wait. Although I like that there was an option to the usual cafeteria/lodge food, it took forever. The sandwiches were decent, but I’ve had better waffle sandwiches so I was a bit disappointed. They need to do something more with the batter. It was on the dry side. Be warned, the waffles smell amazing, but all waffles smell good while cooking. But for where it is, middle of the mountain, it was a nice surprise to find it there.

After a morning of hitting the slopes, Waffle’wich is a great place to indulge a little to get a carb reload for your afternoon runs. When the waffles are actually made fresh, the sandwiches are superb. Waffle texture is on the softer side, so it won’t destroy the roof of your mouth if you’re getting the savory sandwich. I’ve tried the Nutella and Banana waffle — you can’t go wrong w/nutella! It’s your standard sweet waffle dessert thing, but I must say fresh-made waffle versus waffle that’s been sitting a few minutes, makes a huge difference. I ordered this sandwich on two separate days and it was super bomb the first time, but the second time the waffle almost tasted stale and was cold. And due to this lackluster waffle quality, my savory turkey and jack cheese waffle sandwich wasn’t that great either. The chipotle mayo was good, so was the turkey, but I can’t give a higher rating if you can’t be consistent with your waffle making!

I’m a waffle fan and, like others have said below, you get sucked into line here because it smells so good. Try the turkey sandwich(waffle) with chipotle and pepper jack cheese. It’s to-die-for and big enough to split between two people. Be sure to grab a cup of syrup for dipping.(Yes, you could make this at home but your boarding, silly! I would not wait in line for it tho. Lines suck!)

This place is at the McCoy midstation. As soon as you step off the gondola you can smell the sweetness in the air. We ordered a latte and a Nutella and banana waffle. The service was very poor. The counter girl was rude. She is probably sick of dealing with tourists, but this is her job! The waffle was very see through… They probably can use little more batter. The coffee had a strange taste to it. Overall I will say this place is a little deceiving… Does not taste as good as it smells.

Hmm what happened to this place? The last time we came, the waffles were not fresh at all. Only one of the 3 we ordered had some crisp and the rest were super soggy. :(

Ok, so I’m a waffle junkie and nothing sounds better than sweet, buttery waffle on the mountain. Every time I walk into McCoy station to catch the gondola, I’m hit by the sweet aroma of waffle, I mean how could I resist??? At around 1pm on Saturday, my stomach was growling from half day of non-stop skiing and I had to take a break. I walked into McCoy station and there was a long line for Waffle’wich. But after smelling it so many times and spending the entire morning thinking about waffle, I had to have it. It took me about 20 minutes to get my waffle and coffee. I wanted something sweet, but neither of their«sweet» creation sounded good to me(Nutella and Banana OR Strawberries and Cream Cheese). So I decided to just get plain waffle with Nutella on the side. I found a table, sat down and took a first bite. Hmmmmm. Meh. I can’t even tell you how disappointed I was! Those waffles were so bland! No taste. Very dry. It’s nothing you can’t make at home, seriously. Price isn’t too bad for Mammoth, but do not wait in line for this. You will be disappointed!!! But, with all that said, if you’re a waffle junkie like me, and you just have to try it, go around 2pm, there was no line by the time I left McCoy. Coffee is good, btw.

Every time we get off the gondola and walk by, the aroma is so strong and sweet. Makes me hungry every single time. Finally after a few runs we were tired and decided to give this place a try. Savory was the option we chose since it’s already lunch time. We got the ham and brie, and the turkey and cheese. Both of them definitely smelled better than what is actually taste like. It’s not bad but at the same time it was not good. Something to fill the stomach if you are really hungry. It’s kinda dry even with the sauce they had in it plus you can hardly taste the sauce.

Used to be so much better. Still a great deal for Mammoth standards, but the waffles weren’t made to order this time. Just thrown in the microwave and heated up for 5 seconds. Makes for a very soggy waffle. I like the sweet options better than the savory, personally.

The mouth watering aroma hits you in the face as soon as you walk out of the gondola! There are so many variety of savory, but when I believe that waffles just like crepes should be eaten in a sweet way possible. Ordered plain with cream cheese & strawberry on the side because I love my waffles crispy. It was pretty good, but I think they should cook the waffles a bit longer so it stays crispy. Defitely fill up on waffles for breakfast before hitting the slopes!

They get me with that sweet aroma of freshly baked waffle! argh! Gotta have one! We all know it’s pure torture during lunch time, when the line at McCoy getting on the gondy is super long, you are standing there and all you smell is the wonderful aroma of these gawdawg waffle-wiches. After drooling for 2 seasons, I finally gave in to the very effective marketing of Mammoth Mtn and got a egg/cheese/veggie waffle’wich. It smelled wonderful but tasted like crap. Waffle was very artificial and the egg/cheese/veggie was very bland, had to dump ketchup to be able to eat it. It’s really too bad. They could really make lots of $ off of me if it tasted better.

One year later and it’s still as good as ever! Despite the mediocre snow conditions this year(it’s pretty icy), my friends and I still managed to make it here. It’s located at the McCoy Station so it’s connected to the gondola if you don’t want to snowboard/ski up because it does take a few lifts to get here if you’re on the other side of the mountain like we were. I wish they had more dessert waffles though — they only have two options, but the cream cheese and strawberry($ 5.75) was still good!

Mmm… waffles…as far as I know, this is the only place that you can get waffles and they sure are a good alternative to the regular fare served at all the other lodges(burgers, Mexican, Asian rice bowl, soups/chili). You have the option for savory(stuffed with deli meats, cheese) or sweet(nutella, whipped cream) and all the waffles are made fresh on site. You can smell them as you enter McCoy Station. The savory version is filling and a meal in itself.

It’s a great place to take a break from snowboarding/skiing or making a gondola stop. They keep their waffle sandwiches pretty basic and don’t deviate from what works so well in a waffle sandwich. Nutella, bananas and whipped cream is an easy go to with hot cocoa or coffee and the ham, egg, and cheese waffle sandwich is a near perfect handheld breakfast. Nothing too fancy, unless you choose to customize it, but the standard menu holds up great. Service was quick and friendly and the prices were great. The next time I snowboard at mammoth I’ll have to make a planned detour back to Waffle’wich :).

Mammoth could not have located this better and I was not able to resist stopping in between runs. At first, I thought the smell was caramel popcorn but I was even more excited to see waffle sandwiches. It’s at the McCoy station and you can get to it via the Panorama Gondola from Main Lodge, which I don’t think you even need a board or skis to use because I did see people with regular shoes on. They have both savory and sweet options, and I went for a roast beef waffle which comes with with onions and cheese. I did notice they did not have many sweet options which do not contain meat, so they could stand to add more to that list. My waffle’wich hit the spot; they did not skimp on the meat and they fresh cook up the waffle. I also had a latte to give me a boost on the runs, and it was not too shabby. One caveat is that since they freshly make the waffles, it does take a while to get one if there’s people in line and I never saw them without a line. Also, I noticed them close at three, so you’ll have to get on the gondola well before then if you want to get one.

I think this place deserves a 3.5 star. We just smelled the fresh waffles being made and had to get one for dessert after we ate at the cafeteria. We had the nutella and banana and I think it was pretty good and the portion is pretty large which can be shared. I guess it just hit the spot in between snowboarding and after lunch.

I found this place tremendously disappointing. The smell lures you in(fresh made waffles, mmm!) but then when they make your sandwich, the waffles are pre made(at least when I tried it) and not fresh off the griddle… they were pretty soggy and not fluffy and warm. So the sandwich maker takes these two waffles and starts putting your selections in them. I had an egg, brie, and apple/cherry compote. The eggs were these flat, round pre cooked egg saucers — not even as thick as the egg you might get in an Egg McMuffin. They were like 1/8″ thick, if that — they were almost as thin as generously-sliced cold cuts. Granted, they used 3 in my sandwich, but the egg saucers were about 4″ across each, and the waffles that make up the sandwich are a good 7″ x 4″ or so. So 3 egg layers spread across the whole waffle did not make a satisfying protein filling. Then, the brie that they used was cream brie, not brie cut from a wheel. It was gross and runny. Making matters worse, the waffles making up the bread portion of my sandwich, weren’t even full, thick waffles — seems like they skimped on the batter so I had these skinny ass waffles and when they put the brie on it, the brie seeped through the holes in the thinnest part of the waffle where the batter didn’t connect. This sandwich station is NOT worth it, even though the sandwiches only cost around $ 6 – 8 apiece which is definitely one of the cheaper options in McCoy station. The only good thing is the staff, they are so friendly and helpful. I wish they would bring the crêpe making dude back at Canyon Lodge. This waffle place was terrible.

The Good: I’ve been hearing all this talk about waffle sandwiches in the OC from Brix, when I was skiing last weekend I ran across this place and had to try it. The smell alone is amazing when you are waiting in line to hit up the gondola. I tried a ham, brie, and apple sandwich and it was okay, the peanut butter nutella one was a bit better. The Bad: The line, on a packed holiday weekend my friend waiting over an hour and a half. Yeah, no food is worth the wait when I can be skiing instead of waiting in line. The Ben: If you have some cool friends that want to chill for a bit have them wait in line and grab you some food.

It’s a sandwich. It’s a waffle. It’s a waffle sandwich. DUH! Obvs, the bread is 2 ridic huge pieces of waffles and in the middle is various sandwich type of concoctions. Tried the pastrami with cheddar AND strawberry with cream cheese. PHEW! Talk about sweet and savory. I liked it but, it was just a lot of flavors for me to deal with. Especially with the maple dipping sauce. YES, maple dipping sauce!
