Basically, you need to go to this gym. It’s probably my favorite one(24 hour fitness has got nothing on it) for so many reasons: friendly, kind owner who has a real passion for fitness and for his gym, not crowded at all(this is a huge plus), inviting atmosphere, they serve coffee, and it has all the equipment you need!!! A one-day pass is $ 10 and flipping worth it! Seriously, I would move to mammoth for this gym. Beyond pleased with it, so give it a go when you’re up in the area! And if you can, buy one of their t-shirts to show your support. I did! And I’m coming back when I’m back in mammoth!

Clean, great natural light from the windows all around. Basic equipment. Could use some updating(e.g., yoga mats, rollers) but it’s a good deal, and nice people.

I don’t come on Unilocal that often so I hope this goes though. I am a long time mammoth vacationer but only recently have I become a powerlifter and this year when I booked a 10 day vacation I wondered: «How ever will I keep my gainsss?» Well a quick Unilocal search and I was on my way to ‘The Body Shop’. Based on the reviews I expected a nice small gym and that is what I got. My experience: 3 day pass: $ 25 I’m not one to talk anyone’s ear off and this is especially true at the gym, so I can’t really comment on the employees much but here is what I can say: I was treated with respect and I felt no presence of ego that is all to common in the lifting world. The employee’s(maybe trainers too?) were in good shape and that’s always nice to see! The transaction was as simple as handing over my green and signing some paper. The facility itself is not big but it has everything for everyone to work out everything. There is a bench and unassisted squat rack so you have your meat and potatoes covered there, but there is also a pretty good selection of everything else to make some serious gains! If you can’t work a muscle at this gym with whats provided then you need to hit the books. Free weights go up to 110 which I was surprised to see! Also for those of you not into weightlifting(no disrespect!) there is a pretty good selection of bikes, ellipticals, row machines, and other cardio stuff. Overall, good setup. 5 star no doubt.

We just got back from a 5 day visit to Mammoth Lakes, CA and my husband, Bob asked me to let everyone know that if you need a great place for a workout in town, The Body Shop gym is the place to go. The owner, Bruce Bartlett and gym manager, Josephine were extremely friendly and helpful, especially to an out-of-towner who was only there for a few days! The organization and selection of equipment was excellent and the great natural light from the abundance of windows made the workouts even more enjoyable. The 3 day pass they offered was very affordable and much appreciated! Bob said he wished we could have stayed there longer and he will definitely check in with them as soon as we hit town the next time we visit there!

Needed a spot for a few months while SAC was closed and The Body Shop filled the mark. Windows galore so great natural light, multiple types of cardio machines(EFX, Bike and Treadmills), plenty of free weights, kettlebells and a few well chosen weight machines. As a former body builder Bruce has taken the limited space and outfitted it with just what you need. The updated lobby works much better, very friendly staff, two private changing rooms and lockers to store your stuff. Water faucet and bathrooms outside the shop but it is still in the buildings lobby with easy access. Only small complaints — music too loud(but variety on the Ipod is extensive) and you HAVE to avoid the lunch /after work rush. With 4 or 5 people on the weight floor with the limited space you are on top of each other and of course trying to use the same equipment at the same time. Well worth the days use fee for those visiting who don’t want to get all involved in the scene at SAC.

Great gym! Had all the right weights and also tread mills that do not skip! It was only 10bucks to work out one day. I will be hitting this place every time I am in town.

We were looking for a gym just for a month. This place is great, close to where we are staying and had exactly what we needed to get a great workout. It is not a big gym but has basically everything. Lot’s of free weights, a stretching room, recumbent bikes, spin bikes, elliptical, and treadmills. They also have towels for use and TVs that you can change if you like. They are very easy going here. They give you a swipe card to get in the door and are basically open from 5 am — 10 pm. They offer great deals for visitors, $ 45 for the month for unlimited usage.

I work out at The Body Shop when I’m in Mammoth. Despite its size, with all the windows the place is airy and spacious. There are all of the free weights and machines you need for a good workout. It is well worth the price for a the frequent visitor’s pass($ 80 for 10 visits.)

After discovering how expensive the other gym in Mammoth is, I decided to check out The Body Shop. I was told not to expect much, but my standards weren’t too high to begin with; the way I look at it, Mammoth is amazing for getting an outdoors workout in any season, so I didn’t even think there would be a fancy pants gym here. I walked in, got a «tour»(It’s one tiny room — Tour not necessary.) and walked right back out. Even with a potential student discount, I couldn’t justify it. The machines are ancient, from the treadmills to the weights. It looked like an exhibition of the first cardio equipment produced. I did end up signing up at the other gym a couple weeks later(sometimes you just want to lift weights and watch a movie on an elliptical… sue me), and that place is worth every penny and then some.

Good clean gym with the right amount of free weights and machine. Sometimes you go into gyms, especially ones that are machine-heavy and wonder if the person who chose them actually works out or they just picked the machines they thought were«cool.» Front desk girl was nice and $ 10 one-day pass was a great deal. Only real problem was that the front desk girl and her boyfriend were groping each other every time I passed by. They were both young but didn’t seem very professional. Oh well. Would go back in the future if I am up in Mammoth for the week(end).

Clean, well appointed, plenty of practical equipment without clutter. Seems the owner takes pride in his business. $ 10 for a day pass — BARGAIN.

This is a great place to get a good workout in on either the free-weights or the machines. There are plenty of stationary bikes, elliptical and recumbent. Treadmills in the winter make for a good training site that is in the middle of Mammoth. There are plenty of windows so you feel like you are able to spread out and not be claustrophobic. Much cheaper than the other gym in town and much more convenient from just about any neighborhood. Super-friendly staff, laid-back atmosphere, very clean, and no muscle-heads grunting and tossing weights around.
