Short, quite easy. Beautiful views of the valley and town below and truly panoramic. Whole walk up the hill did not take 20 minutes, so if you are looking for something to get a little exercise with I’d skip it. Park at the first parking lot with the view of twin lakes and the waterfall coming up Lake Mary Road.

Dang, I didn’t realize the Panorama Dome was on Unilocal.I always like to come here before I leave for home. I love it. The hike isn’t really that challenging but it makes you lose your breath from the high altitude. On the top is the dome I do recall it being windy, there is some rocks that looks like a chair or something. Beautiful views of Mammoth Mountain ski area and Long Valley and the lakes below. Watch for bears!!!

This really is an easy trail going up to some gorgeous views. It doesn’t have switchbacks, but it also doesn’t go straight up the hill(contrary to the other review). Instead, it gradually goes up at a cross slope. It was windy when we went here, so we nearly got blown away. A hint it to park by the Old Mammoth Lakes Rd, walk up the road for the water tower to where the trail veers off to the left. Nice little hike.

It’s easy to miss this trailhead, as it is just a dirt turnout on the side of Lake Mary Road. All of the visitors’ lit ranks this trail as «easy,» which it is not. Short, yes. Easy, no. This half-mile trail goes straight up the side of the mountain at a steep grade with no switchbacks. At least the route is shady, but it still saps a lot of energy to get to the top. Once you are at the top of the dome, several small foot trails branch out for some good exploring. It is very sunny and very windy up here. Mid-summer, there are lots of really pretty flowers. Take in the views and catch your breath before grinding your kneecaps on the way back down.
