This place is a must visit for their drinks. Well-made and a wide selection. The food is also yummmmmmm.

I verified that they serve food till 10PM. I arrived at 9:15PM. We came six people and one service dog. The manager immediately jumped on me and told me that we can’t have a dog inside the restaurant. I told him that he is a service dog and I have the certificate in my phone. He then asked where is the dog vest. I told him that by the law service dogs are not obligated to wear a vest. After the exchange of words he told me that the kitchen is closed. Well Unilocal hours say otherwise. I believe Unilocal. We then left the restaurant without to eat. This restaurant don’t like service animals.

Just FYI happy hour ends at 5:00 during the winter. We read reviews saying it was 5:30 but they change that in October or November when it gets busy I guess. Other than that it was a good experience. Or waiter Chris and his trainee Ben were so friendly and accommodating. We would go back again.

Fun lovely lively place where locals, families and visitors mix together. Absolutely great bar with excellent high end drinks and fun cocktails made by savvy bartenders who smile a lot. Good service. Lots of surprises on the menu like artichokes having bread crumbs all over them so if you’re gluten free like me make sure you ask. Some options but not much if you’ve got those allergies. I know it’s up to the customer ultimately– just felt this menu had a few items that one would not usually suspect to have added wheat etc. I think if a menu is listing as many ingredients as theirs do, then bread would be a useful addition. Or adopt a graphic way to let people know. Overall — food is delicious. Good vibe. I will come back for sure.

*Bar review only* Came up for a beer while waiting for our take-out order at Thai’d Up. Sidled up to two seats at the bar next to a window with a gorgeous view and were greeted and served quickly. Mammoth Brew Co beers are served in bottles with frosted glasses. The place kind of smells like BO when it gets crowded in the afternoon with the après-ski crowd.

Meh! All the dishes were oily, the Mac & cheese was tasteless and we didn’t even touch the fries since they were just dripping with oil :(eew The burger although oily was delicious. The server sucked, just totally sucked — forgot our order and brought things we asked for an hour later, didn’t tell us that bread was gonna cost extra. Not coming back.

I come here every Sunday just for their French Onion soup :) I love this place… super warm and cozy vibe, friendly staff, Westin is one bad ass bartender… I gave him a sample of my Moms’ triple berry jam and a token of my appreciation of this place and he made one of the most amazing drinks using the jam !! I look forward to coming here every time I visit Mammoth to snowboard which is Sunday — Tuesdays. EPIC drinks, food & customer service. Respect !!! We had been told on the gondola lift that the Tavern was the place to go for the best food and atmosphere! They don’t take reservations so we headed over early to ensure we get a table! The waitress was so kind to tell us there was a about a minute left on Happy Hour specials(which ends at 5pm) so if we want anything she would need to turn it in fast!!! I thought that was very nice of her to even let us know about the happy hour bc we didn’t know it ended so early! We quickly ordered our Mules, an appetizer and a turkey on pretzel bread with fries for one of the kids. We would have totally ordered our whole meal off the happy hour menu if we had more time to sort of digest the menu and figure it out faster. It’s a great menu for happy hour so try to give enough time to order from there it will save you a lot of money! Food: All excellent dishes Artichoke dip was a great starter & they refilled our pita chips upon request(happy hour menu) The Turkey on pretzel bread with fries was absolutely delicious! It was HUGE too! It’s thin slices of carved turkey not that cheap sandwich sliced stuff!(happy hour menu) The Grilled Cheese & Short Rib Sandwich with a side salad(this could have been ordered on the happy hour menu but we didn’t see it in time). The short rib and cheese was a great combo and we even took half of it home! The open faced steak sandwich with fries — the steak was tender and juicy on jalapeño bread. The turkey meatballs — just right for me after I sampled everyone else’s meals!(also a happy hour item). Dessert– lemon cheesecake to go and it’s round like an individual mini cheesecake — very good! The Moscow Mules come in true fancy copper mugs which was fun to drink from! I had the regular one and husband had the Kentucky Bourbon one. Atmosphere: Upstairs view of the mountain, small, quaint, not too loud at all, and just right! Our kids even enjoyed it even though the lady on the gondola said they wouldn’t. It was their favorite place! They are ages 14 and 11 so they are capable of enjoying a dining experience! Highly recommend! I don’t give out 5 stars easily but this place is impressive and Mammoth is lucky to have it!!!

The first bar we hit upon arriving in Mammoth after a long drive. The Tavern was the perfect place to start the weekend with friends. Drinks: The pineapple margaritas were STRONG and absolutely, sneak-ily, delicious. After two of these, I was done! The blackberry jalapeño margaritas were fantastic too. Food: I was bummed at how puny and unimpressive the soft pretzel was after seeing Unilocal pics of others. But the spinach artichoke dip(with jalapeño) was piled high with fresh veggies and hot peppers. The meatballs were delicious. We should have ordered two because everyone fought over the last one. Heads up: Get here early for a big group. This space is small — probably best for parties of 2 or 4 max — but we were able to fit 8 people around a small bar table with a few people standing.

The food is awesome! Drinks are fantastic and everyone eats at the bar which is very cool! The place is a bit small so it gets packed quickly. Make sure you get there on time when you make reservations.

In making my annual ski trip to Mammoth, I stopped by Mammoth Tavern for dinner. The Unilocal reviews were in general pretty positive and the food didn’t disappoint. I went on a quiet weekday night so it wasn’t crowded or noisy. Service was good and prompt. Not the greatest décor for a $$ restaurant, a bit too dive-y but not bad otherwise. As I was a bit hungry, I started with the warm pretzel and mustard sauce along with a draft beer(decent selection of beers and wine). The pretzel was pretty good and the sauce was ok. Wish it was a bit zinger(some horseradish would have been great). For my entrée I had the beef tenderloin. It came with two polenta cakes, Brussel sprouts with garlic aoli. I have to say it was quite good. All the elements were delicious and the garlic aoli really made the flavor pop(love garlic). Only wish the tenderloin was a bit bigger portion as this was a $$$ priced dish. Would definitely order this again just for the flavors. Mammoth Tavern is definitely on my list of good eateries in Mammoth.

Stumbled upon this place after doing some shopping at the shopping center nearby. Arrived around 4ish for an early dinner and it was already crowded! We did manage to find a seat at the bar after a few minutes. I was happy to find out that they were on happy hour and ordered some cocktails. The food was fantastic! We ordered oysters, kale salad, & the artichoke dip. The kale salad was very fresh & the vinaigrette dressing was amazing. The artichoke dip was the best I’ve ever had… Not to cheesy but just right! The place really filled up around 5ish when everyone returned from the slopes. Great service, amazing food, & fantastic happy hour prices!

Looking for an alternative to late night pizza… Found this fun spot. The wine isn’t so good but we got a bottle of the Pinot here. The best part was the traditional greyere fondue. Good spread of vegetables and the pretzels were good and dipped in butter. Yum! Also had the mussels and those were pretty disappointing. Totally skip that. The scallops were just okay too… Scallops were served with cauliflower and I’m not sure those things go together.

One of the best gastro pubs I’ve ever been to in CA. Great vibe, excellent service, wide variety of bevvies and scran, including late night vittles for all the hungry folk, including the restaurant crews looking to unwind after another night in the weeds. This and Twoomey’s, are my go to places each time I roll into town. Good times in the Sierras!

We came here for dinner after reading the good reviews online. The hostess told us the wait would be about 25 minutes… it ended up being less than 5 minutes. She had told the same thing to the couple who came in right behind us, who didn’t want to wait nearly a half hour so they ended up leaving… but like I said the wait was only a few minutes and there were several tables available, so it’s too bad she lost business for the tavern. Service was a little slow and our waiter was a little… out there… but the food was good. We loved the french onion soup. My husband’s steak was a little overdone… actually the waiter never asked how he wanted it cooked. My burger was pretty good. All in all, it was a decent place to grab some food and some beers, but I’d probably try a different spot next time I’m up at Mammoth.

Every year I return, I realize how good this upscale gastric pub is. I think it ranks in my top 3 in my life. Most surprising it’s in Mammoth, a decent distance from all food capitals in the USA! I’ve had many items in the menu and they are great. Tonight fried chicken sliders and I’m impressed with the breeding on the chicken… Crunchy and full of flavor! This place still my #1 in mammoth after all these years. Forgot to mention their fresh cut fries are outstanding!

One of the only spots worth going to when in Mammoth, and trust me, the options aren’t that immense to begin with! They bring great drinks, great vibes, and great food all together in one package.

Excellent food, friendly, fun service. You might have to wait for a table, but it’s worth it if you appreciate special food made by people who care about what they do. The detractors: extremely noisy room, and chaotic table service. Entrees began arriving before soup and salad, and were, oddly, followed by appetizers. The food runners were confused as to who received what dish, and everyone had to yell to be heard. But admittedly, once the food arrived, we didn’t care! Soooo good! Highly recommended!

I came here based on the Unilocal reviews, and I’m happy that I did. While in Mammoth this was my favorite meal.
My family liked the cabin-ish décor, and the general vibe of this location, which is not super big, so it can get busy. For starters we loved the artichoke jalapeño dip, which was not too spicy for kids, but it was good! I had a burger for my main entrée and it was really good, cooked to perfection, with super fresh produce. My wife raved about her short rib grilled cheese, which I was lucky enough to try, and it was indeed delicious„ only complaint is that it’s a tad greasy. My girls also devoured their mac & cheese. Bottom line, all the food was a strong ‘A’ grade! They have a nice variety of adult drinks, and I really liked their BlackBerry Bourbon Mule, it was delicious. We also tried the local Golden Trout Pilsner, which was crisp and refreshing. All the beers come with a cold/frosty beer glass. The service was top notch(Valerie) and our overall experience was great. Out the door with tip it was about $ 100.
