Mike’s Landscaping Company of the Northshore

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE
This morning, a week after I had posted my negative 1-​star review here, I was contacted via Unilocal Email by the REAL Mike’s Landscaping Company of the Northshore.
I learned that the REAL Mike’s Landscaping has received 8 previous 1-​star reviews, all of which were completely undeserved because they were meant for a completely different company.
The explanation is that a completely different man named Mike Checca, who is also from Malden, has been impersonating the REAL Mike’s Landscaping listed here in Unilocal.
Mike Checca’s SCAM is to advertise (for free) on Craigslist, attempt to weasel a deposit from trusting prospects, then disappear with their money.
I have advised the REAL Mike’s Landscaping to contact Unilocal Tech Support to explain why they’re innocent and deserve to have all of the negative 1-​star reviews removed.
As an honest and fair Human Being, I completely empathize with the REAL Mike’s plight, and I’m more than willing to corroborate this story with Unilocal.
It is my hope that Unilocal will believe my true account, and will act quickly to restore the REAL Mike’s good name by deleting all of the undeserved 1-​star reviews, including my own.

I hired Mike’s Landscaping, Malden MA to do a landscaping job. They sent out a contract which they were anxious for us to sign and I paid a $ 1,600 deposit (again very anxious to receive). When I called to find out when the job was to be done and was told «next week,» which happened three or four times and each time told we were the next in line. Finally, after holding my deposit for over two months they told me they were overbooked and could not do the job. I would not recommend hiring them because they are not reliable and do not honor their own legal contract.

Don’t hire Mike’s Landscaping.
–it took me 5 or 6 phone calls to set up a time for Mike to come to my house
–Mike stood me up – not once, but twice – for a scheduled appointment
–last summer, they installed a door with the lock on backwards. Mike promised to replace it and never did.

A terrible experience does not even touch the surface. The job was not completed correctly and it cost a fortune. Had 4 different professionals come after the fact and give written statements proving that not only was the job done poorly but so poorly that it will cause future issues for us down the line. I am posting this a couple of years later at this point and everything that they said would happen because of the errors, has held true. In addition to the poor workmanship and boat load of money we have had to shell out trying to correct the mistakes they made, we were charged for 4 times the amount of materials than what was actually used for the job. The engineer we hired gave a written statement saying there is no way possible that the amount we were being charged for could have ever been used in that space. The whole thing was handled extremely unprofessionally. Just beware.

There are so many other landscaping companies out there, don’t waste your time here. I received their ad in the Valupak envelope that shows up every couple of months and included them in the list of companies I called to quote a couple jobs. While every other company came out within days of my call, Mike’s could only do quotes on certain days at certain times. We had to reschedule twice, and finally on the third try somebody showed up. But he showed up an hour earlier than agreed and disrupted the schedule. He said he’d email a quote to me within a couple of days.
I had to call this company FOUR TIMES over THREE WEEKS to get the quote. And the only reason I kept calling was because he could do construction AND landscaping, which would have kept me from hiring two individuals. Each of the four times, I spoke to a different person and was asked for my email address. Each time I was told somebody would get back to me. Everyone sounded like they had a stick up their ass, too.
Then, I finally receive the quote and it’s more than three times higher than anyone else. One portion of the job was literally four times more expensive than the best price we received from a company with rave reviews that — believe it or not — actually returned the phone call and sent a quote in a reasonable amount of time.
