Their hand-scooped ice cream is sooooo good. If you like coconut, try their toasted coconut flavor. It’s chocolate-covered toasted coconut pieces in coconut ice cream. It’s amazing. We told our friends about it and I think they go to Ernies just about every other day now to satisfy their new ice cream addiction.

Stopped over heading out the city. Conveniently located off NJ17. Pulled up and saw a good sign– families and children waiting in line. Being an outsider this means probably s good choice. I stuck with a bland choice fat free frozen chocolate yougurt. And that it was. Couldn’t taste the chocolate but sure could taste the artificial sweetener. My co worker got pistachio soft serve. She specifically asked how the soft serve was made, flavor burst or real soft serve. After being assured the soft serve was real she ordered only to have the counter help turn around and start preparing her cone with syrup. For $ 4 and a small my co worker was disappointed. Overpriced and not what she wanted and specified. It’s nice to support a local ‘mom and Pop’ so try it but this place gets a big meh.

The ice cream is high-quality and tasty overall. I found the amount of soft-serve flavors offered to be overwhelming and was disappointed when I couldn’t have a simple chocolate earthquake w/butterfinger(no butterfinger). I ended up getting the cake batter ice cream which was a bit too saccharine, and the cookie dough bits were unfortunately powdery as if they were old. The hard ice cream was much better though.

I went to Ernie’s for the first time a couple of days ago, and I’m still raving about it. Their soft serve ice cream is a must try! Way beyond standard chocolate and vanilla, they make a whole bunch of different flavors and they are made up on the spot! I had the butterscotch soft serve, and it was like the best butterscotch pudding you’ve ever had turned in to an ice cream! Their chocolate malt is device as well! I can’t wait to go back!

Best soft serve! I had pistachio and it was delicious. The strawberry was amazing too.

I really love Ernie’s, it is the equivalent to Montvale’s Dairy Queen. Soft serve is always consistent and you’ll never get a flavor here you don’t like. There are benches outside that you can sit on, and they really make sure the place is clean. If you do not like the softserve they have the other flavors as well trust me they are just as good.

My family and I love Ernie’s. It is our goto place in the summertime. Great soft serve, inventive hard ice cream flavors. Not the best location, but for a mom /pop ice cream place it does the trick!

I love there soft serve. I’ll take the 15⁄20 minute drive for ice cream any day. The kids working here are always pleasant to talk to, and actually seem to enjoy their job. My personal favorite is the lemon soft serve. Love the variety here!

While not the scene of Dairy Queen in nearby Montvale, good soft serve ice cream. They make different flavors by adding syrups to the vanilla soft serve. Pretty interesting and not too bad. I will have to try plain old chocolate next time. The ice cream was surprisingly creamy for soft serve.

Mahwah is a bit of an automotive repair wasteland, and you can do no better than dropping your car off for a quick lube, and grabbing a cone of ice cream from Ernie’s! There are so many flavor options for soft serve ice cream — we tried the dreamsicle which tasted identical to the sweet orange popsicles from my youth. The ice cream flavor of the day was cinnamon churro, a delicious blend of spicy cinnamon with crunchy chunks of churro. Such a surprise treat — well worth a visit if you find yourself in the Mahwah !
