Awesome food. Fresh. Delicious. Hidden gem. should be getting 10 stars.

After living in the area for awhile now, this new eatery always crossed my mind and I always made a mental note to check it out when I had the opportunity. But I never passed it or thought about eating there at the right moment. Now it’s at the top of my list for lunch. I’ve had three meals there and I believe I’ve experienced enough to warrant giving this kitchen five stars. 1. Intimate, if bordering on divey eating area with outdoor seating is all you need and gives you a comforting feel. 2. The owners/cooks/customer service were the most genuinely nice individuals I’ve met in the area. 3. The food is out of this world good. Simple and fresh ingredients, home made bread and pickles, with an absolute flavor bomb or spices and rubs. — The Little Jerk is phenomenal. The spices are on point and the pineapple adds that sweetness you crave in the next bite after getting the spice on the back end. — Wang Chung Tonight is incredible. Had it on an everything round roll and can’t wait to have it again. It’s a must eat. I will say that prices are maybe not what you want them be, but it’s worth every penny.

Decided to take a small group of people here because of the positive Unilocal reviews and we were not disappointed. 2 people ordered the brisket, 1 ordered the Balboa and the last one custom made his sandwich, turkey and Swiss. All were great. We also all ordered rosemary fries. Large portions and tasty. They even make their own ketchup and smoked mayo. Service was great and I can’t wait to try other sandwiches. There isn’t much parking on the street but just park on that back corner of shop and stop and you’re fine.

Anyone who doesn’t give slamwich 5 stars needs a reality check. This place would do well anywhere but these guys brought slamwich to their home state. All the ingredients are fresh and they freakin’ cure and smoke their own meat. Seriously Google these guys. I did when I got back home and this humble place is so legit. It’s a unicorn in this area. Committed pig is good, Marie’s is good. But they are simply not cooking at the same level as slamwich. We had the balboa and the blt and both were outstanding with the bread being as tremendous as what was inside. Rosemary fries were also good. Just a down to earth spot that is so unassuming, but is almost secretly hiding some of the best food in town. I have a feeling these guys are going to do really well. I’ll be back — probably tomorrow. Update: went back the next day and got the wang Chung and it was an instant favorite. Best I’ve had so far. Update 2: went for breakfast and the Colorado is . Hangover is great but get it with sriracha mayo.

This place is incredible and by far the best in Madison. Each sandwich is unique and made with quality ingredients. Serious kudos to the people running the shop.

The 4 stars you see is a bit misleading. I actually wanted to give this place 3 stars, but the 4th is for their pork belly. It is that good(my opinion)! This is a small restaurant with minimal seating on the inside at most 18(elbow to elbow) with some seating outside. They could probably do better at arranging their space to fit more people, especially that area to the right of the register where nobody’s manning the milkshake bar. The menu is quite simple: build your own, signature specials, and sides. I opted for build you own: pork belly, lemon ricotta, and pickled jalapenos. The guy who took our order was quite pleasant and gave us a good background of who they are as this was our first time. I asked about the pork belly — it’s slowly roasted, smoked, and braised, all in-house; my shirt smells smoky, in a good way. The pork is very tender and succulent. The lemon ricotta was not lemony enough — it could use some lemon zest. As an ensemble, the sandwich sort of worked. The pickled jalapenos worked well with the pork, but I think the bread was not the right choice. On its own, the bread was soft with a chewy skin, but with a tender meat like belly, it was difficult to get everything in one bite. As you bite into the sandwich, the pork belly would slide out with the other accoutrements while you’re trying to break the skin. I would go with a bread with a surface that is a bit more forgiving. If the lemon ricotta had [more] lemon zest, it would have brought the sandwich a bit more zing and a contrast to the fattiness to the belly. The pickle had a nice zing; liked it over some standard salty or vinegary pickles. The cole slaw was a bit disappointing being under-flavored. From a portion standpoint, it wasn’t over the top and enough to be comfortably full. From a price standpoint, I would consider it as ‘once in a while.‘ Would I come back? Sure, but not right away.

I had been looking forward to trying this place and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were very friendly and prompt when I phoned in an order. My husband had the BBQ brisket sandwich and loved it, I had the BLT and we also split the Italian Stallion. The BLT was awesome. Their homemade bread is so good– I wish they sold it! Due to having recently had an oral surgery– I was overestimating my ability to enjoy the plentiful sandwiches. My husband already has his next order in mind– 2 Italian Stallions, the BLT and the Kimchi sandwiches. We also got the beet salad– I don’t like beets but he loved it. Only thing missing were chips to enjoy with the sandwiches. A very unique and amazing spot. Everything is homemade and worth the money.

Here’s the deal: I was searching around Unilocal for a new place to try and BAMM this place came up… I made my way over, walked into this tiny(looks like an old luncheonette). The guy behind the counter was very helpful and explained how they make everything from scratch! I ordered the Pastrami sandwich with the NYSO sauce… and WOW it was amazing! the bread was delicious and the sandwich was definitely unique!!! Give it a try, it will not disappoint!!!

AH-MAZINGSANDWICH. I got the ‘Pop That Pastrami’ with a side of Rosemary & Sea Salt Fries. It was so delicious and so worth the calories. The service was really great & the people who work there were really helpful about the different sandwiches they have. Definitely will go back… this week… for a breakfast sandwich.

Approaching this modest sandwich shop disguised as a classic smaller NJ style trucker diner can only be described as candied jalapeño bacon. You know that sweet spicy thing everyone goes crazy over these days. I say that because what appears to be an everyday Joe’s sort of place is nestled in the center of a very affluent town. In regards to the food we ordered: Dirty Jerz Duck The Balboa KeenWah(Quinoa) Salad Rosemary Garlic Fries The duck… Just completely insane. Best duck I’ve ever had. The skin, yes the skin was included in the sandwich, the skin crackled like glass as if they replaced the duck skin with pork belly. Was really great along with the onion ring and coleslaw to complete the union of these two halves of freshly baked onion bread. The balboa was good according to a friend who joined. As was the salad. Another buddy raved of the vinaigrette. We shared the fries and I asked the chef if there were any dipping sauces and he brought out 3 to try. 1. Garlic Aioli — Excellent 2. Can’t remember the name — Pretty Good Nice spice 3. Smoked Mayo. Just smoked mayo. Perfection. A true game changer. I instantly had visions of all the turkey sandwiches I would introduce this too. I am already timelining my next visits. Hats off to you Slamwich!

Well worth a 20 minute detour. I had the daily special saddle steak sandwich which was good. The service is friendly and the customers are mostly locals, as it should be. There are only about a dozen things on the menu. This is a huge plus — because it is possible(and likely at Slamwich) that they do everything well. Wish I could have tried the duck confit sandwich — next time. And yes, the crispy Brussels sprouts are REALLY good.

A shame there’s a 5 star max! You taste the passion and soul that went into every morsel. In-House made condiments and bread/rolls. There’s only one negative… I don’t live next door.

Based on all the reviews it really pains me to give this place 3 stars because it has a lot of potential. I support a lot of local spots and I know I will be back here but it did leave a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth. They are known for making everything in house. Their sauces to meats to bread. I stopped in to grab a «quick» breakfast sandwich. I completely understand everything is made to order but 20+ minutes for a couple of breakfast sandwiches is unacceptable. And their coffee was quite undrinkable. Coffee flavored water… threw it out on the way home. And to boot, there was no one waiting! How was the sandwich? It was average. The sausage was unique. Their bread was ridiculous(in a good way). I get my breakfast sandwiches sans any ketchup or condiments as I feel that takes away from it. There is limited seating inside. They are surely more geared for the get it go crowd. Their lunch sandwiches look delicious. I will definitely return. Their food is worth another try. So be fore warned, maybe call ahead to get your food. I will probably update my review once I stop in for lunch.

I was working out of the house quite a bit which allowed me to literally check stuff off of their menu, but I’ve been going into the office regularly, so I missed this place. Summary: I work in the city. I have access to some of the best sandwiches on the planet, but this place is still in a league of its own. It’s also getting busier. I showed up at 1pm and there was no place to sit. I always do takeout, but you want your favorite places to do well, but not so bad that you end up waiting in an absurdly long line. No matter. If it gets that bad, these guys deserve it for turning a deli sandwich into an art form. Just downed the tandoori chicken sandwich. Wrapped in homemade pita with pearl onions, curry cauliflower, and juicy chicken. I hate cauliflower, like despise it, but I found myself picking the pieces that dropped out and popping them into my mouth. My only regret is I don’t think I took a breath while stuffing this sandwich into my mouth. The shortness of breath was worth it though.

This is the best sandwich place in the world!!! Everything is homemade and cooked with love, and you can taste it! I went here with my brother earlier today. I got the«pop that pastrami» sandwich. It has Swiss cheese, thick cut pastrami, and a thousand island dressing with a kick. The bun was homemade, and was crunchy on the outside but squishy and airy on the inside-amazing! This was my first time eating pastrami, and let me tell you… A pastrami sandwich from anywhere else but Slamwich simply won’t measure up! The sandwich was accompanied by crunchy chips, wonderful cole slaw, and a juicy, sweet and salty pickle. My brother got the BLT, and loved it so much that as we were leaving, we bought another one to go to bring home to our mom-who was also very impressed with the food. As for the atmosphere, it was very welcoming and all the employees were as nice as could be. As soon as we walked in, the girl behind the counter greeted us with a smile and was very sweet. There was also a bald guy(who I assume is the owner) who was very friendly and asked many customers how their food tasted. It was clear that he cares a lot about the product they are serving and making customers happy. All the employees are passionate and you can taste the care and love they put into the food. I will definitely be back to Slamwich, as it is now one of my favorite food joints in Morris county. I’m not even a sandwich person, but Slamwich is indescribable. I strongly encourage anyone reading this to pay a visit to Slamwich, you will not be disappointed. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place ends up on Guy Fieri’s «Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.» Best of luck to the owners and employees of Slamwich, you’re doing everything right!

This place is pretty darn awesome. Not a red meat eater but if I was I am sure it would be mind blowing. The breakfast sandwiches, chicken sandwiches and salads are all great. This is a destination restaurant. Must go.

This place is excellent. I’ve been here twice and have had the: Brussels sprouts Rosemary fries BLT Slam burger People I have been with have also had the pastrami sandwich and say it is really good as well. Everything is glorious. I still dream about those Brussels sprouts and want to figure out how to make them for the holidays. This is just a really tasty and unique spot — a pleasant surprise for Madison(good food options are a rarity). The staff/owners are super friendly and helped me navigate options both times I was there. It’s small but has some old school character — I hope the good word about them gets out! This place is a keeper.

After the boss gave me a few options after a Unilocal search I picked the sandwich option. Wow, what a place. we got the brisket with sweet potato straws and havarti cheese and the pastrami and split them. One of the most memorable stops we have made and we make a lot. Apparently pretty new and so surprised to us we wanted to compliment the owners who posed for a pic. Park up top at the grocery store lot. We will go out of the way to return here. Not a lot of seating inside so be ready to get an order to go. Friendly people and outstanding eats. Nice to goto a place that takes pride in what they do.

Huge flavors in small round sammiches, the house-baked buns are fantastic but chewy so taking a bite quickly becomes a disaster lol. Priced $ 9-$ 15 which seemed in line with the quality if not the size. Only 7 tables plus a counter in this little converted diner; breakfast and lunch only, closes 6pm. My porchetta Slamwich started as a tidy pile of wonderfully slow-cooked pork, a thick slice of roasted eggplant and some ricotta to glue it all together. Instantly the eggplant went one way and the bun the other, yummy but messy. A basket of fries with the rosemary sea salt was crisply golden thin potatoes and the house ketchup was great too. Nice pickles but the slaw was forgettable. My dining companion got the Slam Burger, a nice patty done medium, plenty of lettuce & tomato, a fine feed. Vegetarian rating: only 2 stars bcos only one sandwich, but I highly recommend their Garden, a pile of roasted beet, cucumber, chèvre, avocado and lettuce(but no tomato). Also fries and two salads. BYO? I guess you could, why not. A craft beer sure would be fine with the pastrami, or anything really :)
