Good food and you get large portions for the price. I recommend the Malaysian Iced Tea if you want a refreshing drink. They are quick and I got my food shortly after ordering, which was nice. If you don’t eat meat, clarify that before you order. I asked them to skip the pork and they brought the noodles out with chicken instead, which I wasn’t expecting lol… But our waiter, Ka, was really nice and offered to replace it. There are so many options on the menu and I’m excited to go back and try something new.

I was really impressed with this place and will definitely come back with my husband. The food is the saving grace, but the environment and service isn’t the best unfortunately. The food though… Wow! We got a couple appetizers and I would really suggest trying them: the satay chicken and the Roti Canai mmmm! We also got a boba smoothie and a boba tea. Both delicious! Fresh boba and not too sweet of drinks. The last thing we got was a fried noodle pad Thai inspired dish. Not my favorite. But next time I want to come back and try some of their soups and other fresh options. The fried noodle just felt greasy and heavy. I wish they would improve the atmosphere to match the quality of food. No blaring TV please! And the lighting is harsh maybe improve on the tiled floor and décor too. I think this has potential to be a great place.

Having spent several years in Singapore and eaten off dozens of food carts I can say this reminds me a bit of a stroll down Howgang Ave, but sadly the flavors are a bit subdued. The biggest complaint I have about this place is the service however. Both the young guy and the middle aged woman seem unhappy to be here. The food took 25min to arrive and the dishes were spaced 15min apart in arrival forcing us to either eat cold food or leave one person out of the meal. Our request to have the Singapore noodles extra spicy was overlooked and the satay was slightly pink inside. I’ll probably go back just to give them a 2nd shot at different entrees and maybe not at Sunday lunch, but if service doesn’t improve that’ll be the last.

One word: Amazing! We were taken here by our friends and one is native Malaysian. We ordered a special funnel bread with a curry with potato dipping sauce — out of this world. Then the girls ordered mango smoothies and his wife ordered banana. I ordered a water — which came back as a watermelon smoothie(lost in translation — but SO happy) ALLWERETHEBESTEVER!!! Literally so fresh– I’ve never had anything like it. I ordered a broth with flat noodles and chicken and shrimp with onion. Delicious. Everyone’s meals looked and tasted so fresh and delicious. Small place but big on quality. We had brought in a very tasty cake from the great QQ Café Bakery. I recommend this place and wish it weren’t so far because we’d be ordering those smoothies everyday. A must try restaurant. Large portions too so bring your appetite !!

I’ve only been here for 1 meal and I’m not as seasoned with Malaysian/Singapore food, but my experience there was pleasant. Medium sized and clean, this place was inviting for a family meal. The Pad Thai was definitely not your traditional Thai restaurant experience, but with that said, it was one of my best dish encounters.

The satay sauce is the reason I go to this place at least once a month. The prices are why I don’t go more often. The food is very malaysian, rich and sweet, spicy and tangy at the same time. The kind of meal you need a nap after. The roti canai is simple and amazing. The nasi gorengs(fried rice) are okay. Portions are huge, I wish the same applied to the satay sauce too. Try the honey dew boba tea

What can I say? My fiancé and I read several rave reviews and took a chance. We were blown away on how well the food was prepared. The portions were large which left us quite a bit for a midnight snack. And the boba tea was freaking excellent. Can’t wait to try something new on their menu.

I went to this place around one o’clock on Wednesday, surprisingly the place was empty. The server was extremely nice and I liked that she was cleaning the tables with soap and water(very clean tables). Shortly after we sat down, the server brought us hot tea and menus. I ordered Roti Canai and coconut pudding right away and then looked at the menu. I ordered fried noodles with tofu. After less than five minutes, we received the Roti and the coconut. We started with the Roti Canai because it was hot. It is basically bread with dipping curry sauce nothing special about it although the bread tasted good. But the coconut pudding was phenomenal. It is basically a large coconut filled with think gelatinous coconut milk. I really enjoyed it and you can probably just eat that as a meal. The food on the other hand was not anything special and I would not go back there for the food. It was alright but lacks any distinct flavor. I would only go back to this place for the coconut probably for a to go order since the place itself is just very average.

Visited on a cold winter night when many restaurants were closed. After desperately combing Unilocal reviews trying to find somewhere to satisfy our craving for Asian food, we finally found safe haven at the Satay House. Décor is very simple. Not much to see here, but it is clean and they try to make it look presentable. The lighting was a bit too bright though like we were in a high school cafeteria. A single TV airing an episode of MasterChef Junior hung on the wall, which all the staff ended up coming out to watch at the end of the night. The food was very good. We had the Pad Thai and the Nasi Goreng, along with a few appetizers to start out. Both of our main entrees tasted excellent and were visually appealing to boot. Prices were reasonable and the portions were perfectly sized. We could tell that a lot of thought and attention went into everything that left the kitchen. Pad Thai was so good I at the leftovers straight out of the fridge the next day! This place probably deserves only 4 stars out of 5, but I think the food was deserving of the extra star(woop woop). Some recommendations I would make: 1.) Tone down the lighting and make the dining room more intimate so you don’t feel like you’re eating at some diner in an aging strip mall. 2.) Serve alcohol or allow BYOB 3.) Offer paying guests free after-dinner mints to freshen their breath.

Plenty of consistent flavor in every dish. Some dishes are worthy of its price. High carb with unbalanced ingredients. I appreciate the attention to consistent slicing size of ingredients. Chicago pricing in Michigan. ROTICANAI — INDIANPANCAKE($ 3.50) — delicious! There should be 2 Roti’s per order. CHICKENSATAY($ 7) — the best Satay I ever had. Well-marinated chicken. Good dipping sauce. KERABUMANGO($ 6.50) — its a sweetly pickled m

If you haven’t figured it out from all the other reviews, get the Roti Canai. I’m not usually a fan of appetizers but this is really quite delicious. The bubble tea here is pretty good and it comes in a nice little hipster mason jar mug if you’re dinging in, which makes for a nice Instagram if you’re into that. Service is pretty quick and friendly. Not much to say. It’s authentic Malaysian/Singaporean, a rare find in the metro Detroit area. Definitely worth a try :)

Awesome and authentic food! Highly recommended. Every dish tastes great. Personally I like the Malaysian noodles–(with egg noodles instead of what they normally use).

Fantastic! The appetizer we had was roti canai– good but awkward to eat. What really made the trip was the Malaysian noodles. A perfect mix of squid, chicken, egg, and vegetables. The noodles were fluffy and the veggies were just the right firmness. Perfect savory meal. The squid was actually tender and not chewy at all. The curry chicken was delicious too– so tender! Kind of mild but perfectly salty and smooth. The bubble tea was the perfect sweetness and the pearls were a nice consistency. The tea was a nice touch, though not my thing. Very clean and friendly. I am sooooo excited this place is close by. Can’t wait to go back and try more items!

Went for dinner on a Wednesday around 8:15pm and the place was not very busy. We were greeted promptly and seated at a nice 6 person table(even though there were only 3 of us). Shortly after seating us and giving us our menus, our server returned with a teapot full of delicious, hot Jasmine tea for our table, something that I have not seen at any other Chinese/Thai restaurants that I have visited in the region. It had been a long time since I had bubble tea and was overjoyed when I saw that they had it. I ordered a Green Milk Tea for myself, while my friends got Black Milk Tea & Honeydew Milk Tea. While all three were irrefutably delicious, I have to say that of the three, the Green tea was the best followed closely by the Honeydew and Black Milk Teas. For food I ordered a Thai green curry with Tofu instead of chicken, and the server acknowledged that the order would be made vegetarian and would not contain any meat. However, when our food showed up after about 10 – 15 minutes, it still contained chicken. Luckily it was recognizable as meat and I asked her to take it back. I was given a new order shortly thereafter and was very pleased with it. The curry was very flavourful with just the right amount of spiciness, such that it did not overpower the flavor. The servers were also very quick to refill the tea when we ran out(which one of my friends symbolized to them by opening the lid of the tea pot — he has experience with Asian cultures). Overall, I was very pleased with this place and would recommend stopping by if you like Asian foods. Disclaimer: Even though I normally would have docked a star or two for screwing up the order even after she clearly stated that it would be vegetarian, the taste of the food, bubble tea and herbal tea were so good and the server so polite that I can’t bring myself to dock them a star.

The restaurant is simple with sherbet colored walls. There is zero wow factor if discussing décor and ambiance. BUT when it comes down to the food, this place floors it! Be prepared for some ultra-traditional dishes! If you’re willing to go out of your usual taste buds’ comfort zone, you will be pleasantly surprised. My husband and I really appreciated the help we got from the menu full of photographs. I’m a very visual person, so it helped to see the dishes before we made our selections. My favorite dish was the pineapple fried rice! I loved the way that they actually served it in a pineapple. The roti appetizer was fabulous as well! I wish we ordered more. Be sure to ask for the hot sauce! Also, do not miss out on their bubble tea! The taro smoothie is divine!

This is a truly a metro-Detriot gem! Free hot tea big plus! We ordered: –Black Milk Tea: Delicious! I have been searching for bubble tea places everywhere in machine. This is the best I have ever had. It has more of a milky tea taste instead of half & half taste. It also comes in a cute mason jar. I will probably ask for less ice next time because it is already cold enough in Michigan! –Roti canai: You need to get this appetizer! The roti is fresh and crisp. It comes with a one piece of chicken and one piece of potato on the side. This was truly delicious. The curry was amazing flavors. –Satay Beef: Pass. 7 small sticks of Beef for $ 7. Forget it. –Curry Mee with Young Tao Fu Noodle Soup: it is a spicy noodle soup served in a spicy lemon grass coconut curry with vegetables and tofu stuffed with minced shrimp and fish meat. The both has all the right flavors and I love all of the toppings. They should probably use a different kind of noodle though. –Beef Redang with Rice: Spicy dried curry beef and cabbage/lettuce I did not think it was spicy, but the beef redang was good. The portion was small though. It was really good when the waiter bought out this special red sauce. It paired perfectly with it. Their cooking reminded me of my friend’s Indonesian cooking. I was impressed to discover such an amazing place in Michigan. I would give place 5 stars, but the service should of been better. This is why I subtracted 1 star. I am usually a very easy going person. However, there were only 2 tables and 1 togo order customer when we were there. The waiter was very nice, but our waitress was so pushy. She had little patience. My bf & I asked her about the dishes. She just pointed to pictures. Barely any feedback from her. She told me if I was not ready to order she would come back. We had ordered 2 appetizers, 1 bubble tea, and 1 entrée already. You really could not have waited for me to order my entrée as well? Anyways, I decided very fast on my entrée afterwards. She also forgot to bring 1 of our appetizers out. I had to ask the waiter to bring it out. This woman was always in a hurry. She barely even checked on our table. When we left, she didn’t even say goodbye nicely. Anyways, we still tipped 18% because we are good people. I am just going to give her the benefit of the doubt that she had a bad day. I will return for the food and hopefully the service will be better as well!

Malay, Thai and Chinese, ok, here goes another mom and pop shop that popped up and is introducing a new style of food culture. Sure enough, the food around this area is littered with Vietnamese and Chinese food that’ll duke it out with the very best of them. First ever I saw a malay establishment join the food game. We ordered 3 dishes, one appetizer and a soup. Tomyum soup(Thai), Beef Rendang(Malay/indonesian), Mee Siam(Malay) and Chicken Satay(Malay/Indonesian) and last but not the least, their Singapore Noodles to try their chinese skills. The Malay and Thai dishes are truly their main expertise. Beef Rendang is hella flavorful, and the mee siam… man, if you like pad thai, this is the Yin to the Yang, the Alpha to its Omega. The tomyum soup is super flava-flav! Then the chicken Satay is astonishingly tender and their sauce is heavenly. The service is very good as well… There was only two of them taking care of their slammed dining space and they took great care of us. The water was iced and kept cold, the tea was nice and hot and they tended out tables as quickly as they could. TWO of them in a full dining space and they smashed it! I will come back again to try their Nasi Goreng… I’m excited for that one. Life is awesome when the glass is half full.
