First time trying the ice cream and its 100% better then anything Sonics has to offer. I got the Peanut Butter candy frosty. It was amazing!!! Full amounts of candy and for $ 5.00 you get plenty

My daughter suggested coming here for an early lunch, so up Gateway I drove to find it. As I pulled up I fully expected to be served roachburgers with a side of mouse fries. «Worn» is a polite adjective for the exterior, and it’s covered with tacky signs that infringe on a beefy range of copyrights, from the House of Mouse to the little blue mushroom-dwellers. I was warned that the tables would be scratched and tagged, but when we entered we found the inside to be nicer that the out, and the tables — or at least their tops — had been replaced. It’s a greasy spoon for sure, and there was something charming about it, a relic from a more innocent age, when the FDA was way off in Washington and ‘cooked in lard’ was the only way to serve a steak. Frosty Queen is what it is, doesn’t aspire to be more, and it doesn’t apologize: it’s a cheap little burger joint that accurately reflects the community around it. A little before 11am, we were the second group to come in, but the dining area was about half full when we left. I think it was staffed by only two people — one on the register, one on the food — and the service was not breaking any land speed records as it was, so I can see that they might get backed up during peak times, but that was not our experience. They have a pretty sizeable menu, serving combo meals of various burgers, chicken, tacos, and more. I ordered the San Joaquin burger(hello, pastrami) and the rest of my group noshed on chicken nuggets and fries. The lettuce, tomato, and onion on my burger were legitimately fresh, and the meats satisfied my hungry soul. The chicken was typical fast food chicken, which is to say not something I would eat, and the sauce choices are ketchup, ranch, and BBQ sauce, so if you’re looking for sweet & sour or Frank’s Red Hot or something, look elsewhere. The fries were not special, but fries don’t need to be special to be edible. On the whole I enjoyed coming here, and it met nearly all my expectations: the burger was good, my daughter was happy, and against all odds there was not a roach in sight.

Probably the best burgers you can get here in Madera come from this place. When I first bit into the monster burger, I felt the juices of the tender meat burst in my mouth. I also like the variety that the restaurant offers you and the prices for what they sell. I know I’m getting what I paid for, if not more. :) Great place!

Frosty Queen is a guilty pleasure for me. Really great chicken strips and fries. I also had a burger which was pretty great. All food is burning hot and fresh, so be prepared to wait. I usually come in the evening, so I’m not sure if this is different at earlier times. Their dessert menu also looks extensive, but I’ve yet to try anything. Everything is very fairly priced as well. This place may not win any Michelin stars, but it’s pretty great for a drive thru joint.

I love this place. Not over priced. Burgers are good. Fries are good. Frosty s are good. But that is all I have tried. But it’s good and it’s the right price. You can afford to bring your family

I just ate there today ordered a double bacon burger combo with a orange float. The orange float was really good but the food was bad, the burger had no seasoning on it & my fries were really cold and soggy which is weird bc I was waiting for like 15 minutes I would imagine they would be hot & crispy. The portion size was really big for the amount paid, but since I only took a few bites before my stomach started to hurt it wasn’t really worth it … So yeah I give it a 2 of 5 because the Orange float.

I give up. I wanted to give this place one more try even though I SWORE I would never come here again but I read a Facebook post about how this was the best burger that person could ever remember having so I figured ok. Last chance maybe they have changed… They haven’t changed! Does this restaurant even own a fryer? How are the fries always soggy and cold?!? Explain that to me please? I also ordered mozzarella sticks and I could tell they had been microwaved. If you can’t make crunchy mozzarella sticks… don’t sell them. The burger was go greasy and made my stomach hurt. Worse of all the wait time is ridiculous. I don’t mind waiting if that means the food will be hot and fresh(farmers brothers in Clovis is a prime example of this)…but if you make me wait 20 minutes and the fries are still soggy and cold… we have a problem.

Mixed reviews on this place. They get 5 stars from me! We came to Frosty Queen for an early lunch on Memorial Day. Just a couple of tables of folks. Placed our order and had it within 20 minutes! I had a double burger combo, my partner had a single burger combo. I loved the fact they have crinkle cut fries.(A fave of mine as a child!) All fresh ingredients! Definitely coming back!

One of the better burger places in Madera. The burgers are pretty filling, the wait is kind of long, I like to attribute that to them making the food as you order. Pretty good alternative than driving into Fresno.

This reminds me of what Snow White used to be back in the day. If you are from Madera you know what I mean. Everything is made to order. I had the single bacon cheese burger combo with chilli cheese fries. Everything was good but the burger was a little dry so you should ask for extra sauce. The chilli cheese fries were good and I would definitely get them again. The selection is huge so everyone should be able to find something they like. The only bad thing is it’s not very clean but not I can over look that since the food was great. I am will be coming back.

OK let me start here you want what you order and what you pay for. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and got a cheeseburger with pastrami on it. My wife was told its beef bacon but I have had pastrami from here in the past and it was pastrami. You know, when you make a mistake you need to own up to it and make it right. Sad to say but this will be my last visit here because as a paying customer I want what I payed for not what you decide to give me.

Well, got off work tonight and decided to purchase a quick meal. We ordered 2 double BACON cheeseburger combos and got pastrami that was cooked on the grill and passed off as bacon. Not happy about that at all. When I questioned about it, I was told that it was beef bacon… I’ve had beef bacon and pastrami before and this was pastrami. Needless to say, but I’ll say it, we won’t be coming here again. The least they could have done was own up to the fact that it was pastrami. Ended up not even finishing the burger.

The food is good, I like the pastrami my self, it’s stuffed full. The fries are good every time I have been here, the service is a little bit on the slow side, but it is made when you order it so I’m okay with that. The shakes are very good and worth a trip if you dig ice cream. I’m holding out on the 5th star for the lack of speed, I think a little better organized staff and system would help. But very nice staff and good food we’ll be back.

Like a lot of people we decided to try this place after leaving the movies. The lady at the counter was not able to answer many of our questions about the menu items, she didn’t seem to care either. When she was able to answer to let us know that the chimichangas were like the ones that were bought in the freezer section and she gave us an example of a brand, all they did was deep fry them. Still wanting to try the place out and since the kids were excited about the ice cream we decided to order anyways. The hamburgers were ok, not a lot of flavor and over loaded on condiments. The fries were pretty good, they were hot and not too salty. One of the employees was taking her lunch break with some other people that didn’t work there. She served herself and when she needed something she would go to the kitchen to go and get it as if she was in her own home. The problem with that was for the many trips she made back and forth she did not once wash her hands upon returning to the kitchen, it just seemed really unsanitary. As we sat down to eat, the chairs and table were wobbly, maybe something they may want to look into for safety reason As far as the appearance, I wasn’t very concerned about it. Being a life long Madera resident I have learned that some of the best places in this town are the hole in the wall restaurants with the hand written menus and calculators instead of registers, so that was not a major factor for me. I really wish they would put something totally awesome next to the movies, I will not be going back to this place. I can’t see spending my hard earned money on something I can grab at the store and fry myself.

The go to here is the San Joaquin, which is the quarter pound burger with pastrami. The fries are fresh and well seasoned and the Dr. Pepper with cherry flavor hit the spot(25 cents extra). Be aware that drive thru service is not the fastest and usually takes about 10 minutes. I am not considering the wait time in my review because im patient and the food was on point.

The root beer float was good. The burgers taste like they came from the flea market. Not awful just flat and not impressive for an independent chain. The typos were the first thing my wife & I noticed. If they don’t take their advertisements serious and accurate how much detail was put into food preparation? I will give them a 2nd chance but it will be an «Order at your own risk» situation.

Ok, this is getting a little ridicules now. First there was Super King Burger, then the Red Onion opened. Now Frosty Queen has jumped onto the bandwagon. All three of these restaurants basically offer the same menu and same quality of food. I challenge anyone to tell the difference in the food at any of these three places. This isn’t a bad thing. The quality is exceptional at each place. The bread is fresh as are the ingredients are, but the taste is the same. Like the Red Onion, there are inconsistencies in the combo prices. There are several burgers priced at $ 3.49 that when you order them in a combo, the prices are different. Yet the combo is the same medium Pepsi and large fries. The same goes for the numerous $ 3.99 burgers. Even with all that, the prices at each of these places is much better than McDonald’s, Burger King or Carl’s Jr. The best thing Frosty Queen has going for it is that it is next to the Movies Madera on North Gateway Drive. This building has housed failure after failure as far as restaurants are concerned and in the 30 or so years since it was constructed, it has been empty and unoccupied more than it’s been open. It started as Naugals, a burger/taco joint in 1983 and has since hosted several different Mexican restaurants including Bobby Salazar’s. Either the rent has been way too high for even a successful restaurant to afford or movie-goers just aven’t wanted Mexican food before they sit for a couple hours in the theater. Fortunately, Frosty Queen is different from anything else that has based out of this building. Hopefully, they will be able to stick around, especially in this location. It would be nice to be able to grab a good burger quickly before or an ice cream treat after seeing a movie. But it’s not very different from the other two restaurants I have reviewed in the last few weeks. In fact many of the names of the burgers at Super King Burger are identical at Frosty Queen. Both places call the pastrami burger the ‘San Joaquin’ Burger and at Frosty Queen their largest burger is called the ‘King’ Burger. I don’t know why the legal departments at Burger King or Dairy Queen haven’t called the owners of both restaurants about the names they are using. Both of these restaurants would have probably received five stars in my reviews had they had a little more originality in their names. I just hope when that time comes that it doesn’t cost these two so much in legal fees that they have to close. Because I very much like and would really miss the food. Now there is one slightly negative point at Frosty Queen that really stands out. They didn’t put much time into proof-reading their menus or signage around the restaurant. I counted at least twenty-five typos just around the restaurant interior. There is a sign on the door that reminding me of an email I once received from a prince in Liberia that needed help moving money out of his country. But even the typos can’t take away from the fact that the food and service is great. If you are there with a group, take the typos and turn it into a game. Who can find the most? Use it to show your kids the proper spellings or usage. It’s not a bad thing having typos, I’ve had several on Big Valley News and Madera Online over the last 16 years. Frosty Queen has a large indoor seating area and an outdoor seating area. It will soon have a drive-thru and has operational hours that complement the next door theater. They are open until 11pm on Friday and Saturday night. Their parking lot is well lit and best of all there are free refills on sodas. The owner told us that this is not the only Frosty Queen. They also operate restaurants in Bakersfield and Dinuba. This another item all the new businesses have in common. Super King Burger has another location in Delano, and The Red Onion has two Porterville locations. All I can say is «Welcome to Madera! We hope you will stay.»
