Good food and service. I really enjoy their salmon and sweet potato fries. They are amazing. They have a good chicken wing and sample platter too. Alcohol is priced well and will be my go to spot for dinner in madera

My parents and I came here on a Saturday night. The food was good. Unfortunately Cool Hand Luke’s does not honor their advertised hours of operation. Our server, Sabrina, was beautiful and sweet but had to give us the check before we even finished our main course! I asked Sabrina when they close, and Sabrina informed us that they close at 10:30PM. That’s great, I thought. It was only 9:30 at the time. I checked the Cool Hand Luke’s website for this Madera location. The advertised closing time on the Cool Hand Luke website was 10:30PM, just like Sabrina told us. Then, why are we being given the bill before we even finish dinner? At 9:50 Sabrina comes back to our table and tells us that they’re closing early. We have to pay and leave as soon as possible. Huh? Do not come to this restaurant if you expect anything more than mediocre food and false advertising.

If I could rate with negative stars I would! Ordered a chicken fried steak and got food poisoning! Turned out to be way undercooked, I called the next day to let the manager know and said she’d call me back that same night she didn’t. Worst«steak house».

Unfortunately had to update my last 5 star review to 1 as 1) waited 15 min. however when we’re sat on the N wing & saw nothing but empty tables(at 6pm on fri not a good sign) 2) Our waitess Vanessa, was rude & seemed upset that she had a job, when asked if they have salads or sandwiches she said no, but then I saw the back of the menu had several choices for ea.(Maybe she’s new) we even put our empty dishes, bread bowl, etc on the end of the table hoping she’s take them but she just walked by looking at them each pass :( Waters & Bread never came so we must have been forgotten so I asked the hostess who replied I’ll let your server know(also didn’t want a job to do i guess, after all water & bread is a BIG responsibility)(trying to give her the benefit of the doubt & chalk it up as maybe she’s new too). 20 min later, we got water & bread. At 6:55 our food arrived, bland :(

We came here the other night, the service was great no complaints there, but the prime rib sandwich my gf ordered was Rancid! she thought is tasted kinda weird, she got sick later on that night. I got the burger with the blue cheese and buffalo sauce onion ring. it was pretty good a little rich with the cheese, but decent. This is about the only place in Madera we eat at … well because it’s Madera there’s not a lot of options Looks like we’ll be dinning in Fresno from now on.

I went in a few months ago and haven’t gone back. The Strawberry lemonade was good. The food was Good. However the Customer service sucked. The girls were rude and you could tell they were looking at us like we couldn’t afford to be there. They were rude and snotty. My husband and I both make good money and we dress casual but apparently that’s not good enough for the waitresses and other girls there. My husband wanted to leave as soon as we sat down but I wasn’t going to let them ruin our night. when we first walked in they all were standing around talking ignoring us till one girl turned around and rudely said, can I help you? Disappointed in the service.

The waitress went out of her way to get me the salad I wanted. She was polite. The salad was excellent. Thank you.

This place is a pleasant surprise for an out of the way town. Madera’s well kept secret. service was superb. Must stop location if you’re in the area.

Food quality is bad. Restaurant has cool décor /theme interior. Nice menu with good variety. I have tried this place 3 times and each time felt the quality was like a Denny’s. For example I ordered a chicken salad and it was a rubbery not edible chicken breast. Almost like it had filler or pressed into a patty and not real chicken or off brand frozen. The steak was the same way rubbery super low quality. I would go to The Vineyard at the next freeway exit. It may be a little more expensive but quality is worth every penny.

I usually spend time describing the food, atmosphere, or service when I do reviews, but not this time. I believe a few choice words will suffice. So here you go; bad, no good, poor, over cooked, poorly seasoned, terrible service, and gross. Being that my review is not so positive I thought I would offer a few alternatives to this establishment; don’t eat, starve, eat your arm, eat your friends arm. Any of these options will bring you more satisfaction than eating at Cool Hand Luke’s in Madera.

Shared 1 lb T bone with hubby with veggie kebob. Kebob was disappointing could have used a variety of veggies(corn over cooked). Steak was excellent! Service was great.

After reading the reviews i was hesitant to try this place but i got tired of driving around looking for another place so i gave them a shot. Am i blown away by awesome BBQ… not really but i have had worse the food was good. I had the combo plater with a salad. The meat was great and the salad was too. Only suggestion it to put more bbq sauce on. If your expecting mind blowing BBQ your in the wrong part of the country but this place is a good bang for your buck!

Visiting my boyfriend while he works out of town we decided to have dinner here and weren’t disappointed. Fast service, wonderful warm bread, great drinks, and of course our entrées were just as good. I ordered the steak and lobster which was amazing. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib and his was very tasty as well. The only complaint I had was that there is always a good amount of people there so I tried to call and make reservations but they do not take reservations unless you are a party of 10 or more. So there will be a wait if busy. The first night we were so hungry that we couldn’t wait a half hr to eat and we found another place to eat but the day after when they didn’t seem busy we ate dinner there.

Can you cook food from a bag, straight from the freezer? If you answered yes than you could be a cook at Cool Hand Lukes, or a customer for that matter! This wasn’t a terrible place, close to hotels, the freeway(to escape for dinner) and a lot of other things. The bar area was nice, good basic beers on tap and good service. I tried a couple of different things though on my visit since it was close and everything was not horrible but not great. The Bacon wrapped shrimp was a app special and was straight from a bag into the oven(assumed warmed in the Microwave first). I’ve bought the same thing from Coscto but I took the time to defrost it right and cook it right and they are OK for a prepared dish. This was over-cooked, super dry and not worth much. I had a burger for dinner one night as well and it was the same, preformed burger, seriously over-cooked and dry and chewy. I’ll stop here for a beer again but that would be about it.

First time here and the price were a dead give away(for me) when your prices are at the same level as other steakhouse you expect equal or better quality. I was disappointed. Portion size wasnt bad, but no flavor nothing that would make you say $$. Mashed potatoes were bland, my chicken was bland and over cooked(alil rubbery). My wife’s steak was over cooked. She ordered it medium. And was way over cooked. Her baked potatoe was stone cold. Even my son commented on his ribs! I asked«how are the ribs«he replied«eh, not bad but I’ve had better» lol. But the service was great! Our waitress was very tentative. Was always on our refills. I would rate these dishes at about $ 9 a plate not $ 14. The chefs in the back are here for a job no pride in the food or passion. That all translates in to the meal. ALL in all disappointed really. I believe at the time of this post this was a 4 star average rating for cool hand Luke. Not by a long shot To quote my son Eh, not bad but I’ve had better. Ps. And paid less

Been to this place several times now when in town for business and have sat in the bar area as well as the regular dining area. Overall, nothing too fancy or spectacular. Service is usually ok, but then again they’ve never really been that slammed when I’ve been there. Food is usually pretty good, although some of the skillet options can be a little greasy. The bowl of beans is a nice touch as an appetizer along w/bread. The steaks are usually cooked pretty well, the mixed fajitas were actually really good and not overly greasy. Beer selection isn’t great but they do always have a couple local options on tap(Firestone Walker, Sequoia, Rileys).

Went to Lukes because we were staying at the fair grounds next door and Luke’s was only a short walk away, we should have walked further. First impressions were good, Luke’s is a western themed restaurant, lots of wood and dark accents, dimly lit so it felt warm and inviting. Waitress was quick to acknowledge us and get our drink orders, and soon there after our food order. We were in Northern Cali and heard the thing to have is tri tip so the wife got the tri tip sandwich and some tortilla soup, I opted for a appetizer sampler they called the«Bonanza». The wife received her soup and she was not impressed, thick and gloppy and she said it just tasted like bean soup, I agreed and thought some lime would help to make it better it did but still not impressed. Along with the soup we got the complimentary beans and bread. The beans were good, pinto beans with a lean towards chili the bread was sourdough and one of the better things we were served. Our entrees arrive and we began to eat. The tri tip sandwich was horrible, it was suppose to be thin sliced tri tip with BBQ sauce, we got half inch thick planks of shoe leather with a sparse spread of BBQ sauce on a lifeless bun, a very poor showing for our first try of Northern Cali Tri TIp. My appetizer plate came with Ribs, Chicken Wings, potato skins, & Sweet potato fries with a huge scoop of garlic dumped in the middle of the fries. The ribs were very greasy and all but flavorless, the wings were breaded and sauced so the breading became mushy and not too appetizing but the sauce had decent flavor, the potato skins were a train wreck, huge slabs of potatoes piled with crispy bacon and a half an inch of grease pooled on top, UN-eatable. So in summary, nice décor, good service, high prices and horrible food, I do not recommend this place in the least.

I’ve never had the urge to come to Cool Hand Lukes to eat, I’ve only been here for the beers and drinks. I came because my family members came for a visit and wanted some steak, I’m glad we came here, I ordered the Ribeye steak dinner and it was the bomb! I ordered my steak medium rare and I’ll have to say that it was one of the best steaks I’ve eaten(at a restaurant, cuz the best steak I’ve eaten is made by myself). The kettle of baked beans with chunks of tri tip(on the house) were pretty damn good as well. I’ll definitely come back for my steak fix, my next meal is going to be the prime rib. They have their own steak sauce but it really doesn’t need it. Oh and the service was outstanding!
