If you are a fudgie head here first. Joanne is the best on the island. I do recommend you sample them all though. You can never have too many free samples. :)

Delicious fudge. We had some truffles too, for good measure(LOL) and really enjoyed them — rich, flavorful, dreamy — everything one expects from chocolate :-)

Joann’s Penuche fudge is the best fudge on Mackinac Island! I appreciate that Joann’s stays open late.

So good! The best fudge I have had in a longtime. Try the turtle fudge– camel, nuts and ooeygooey goodness. The staff was very polite, and you can sample anything for free. Love that they make the fudge in front of you.

I’ve tried a bunch of fudge, this by far beats all. They also have dark chocolate fudge, where I couldn’t find it anywhere else. Amazing! I loved almost all of examples for taste. 3 pieces for $ 18.99. They ship anywhere for a fixed price of $ 6. Great service, friendly and best fudge on Mackinac island!

Their fudge is excellent. I order it every year for the holidays for my customers. A+ Lots of ingredients visible when you order. Nuts fruits etc. No skimping.

Love the coffee, love the fudge, and love the ice cream. Prices are reasonable for on the Island. $ 3 for a good amount of ice cream; $ 5 for a specialty coffee; $ 17 for 3 pieces of fudge. It was the best fudge I’ve ever had — try the double chocolate salted caramel! Oh, and service was friendly and not stuffy or contrived like you sometimes get at tourist traps.

Mini Update: Get 6 or more pieces and each piece of fudge is only $ 5.70 each as of 9⁄2014. Joanne’s Fudge kicks butt over any other fudge on Mackinac Island or even in Northern MI! They use real butter in all their fudge and you can taste the difference. First off if you are not familiar with good fudge I’ll give you a tip. The cheap low quality fudge will have that kind of plastic sheen on top and throughout the fudge because they use cheap oil instead of real butter. When you use real butter the fudge will have a creamy look on top and throughout the fudge. This is especially important to look for in milk chocolate and dark fudge. White chocolate fudge will have a different look that doesn’t apply to this tip. Back to Joanne’s, they make it fresh everyday and it truly tastes like they use the highest quality ingredients. I have been buying their fudge for several years and every time I do taste tests with the other shops I always find a significant difference in the flavor, texture and quality. Plus it doesn’t melt extra easy like the ones made with oil. They have about 25 flavors both traditional and gourmet. These are well made quality flavors not gimmicky ones with fu fu toppings. My favorites are the Double Dark Chocolate Cherry with Walnuts. This one is like really good sex. You just want more and more. My other favorite is the Chocolate Peanut Butter with large round chunks of fresh peanut butter embedded in the chocolate. The staff is very friendly and will let you sample whatever you want. They also have a store in Mackinaw City in the LP. You can order on their website a variety of packages. Also if you want some for Christmas gifts make sure you get on their mailing list way before the holidays. This location is closed during the winter. Their location in the LP opens up for a few weeks to make fudge before Christmas. They do mail it in nice boxes. Oh sorry forgot the pic’s. Saved our purchase for last and we had to run to catch the ferry.

After watching the fudge makers create their art through a huge glass window, we knew we had to step into Joann’s Fudge shop. The shop is beautifully decorated with hand-carved wood all around. And of course, the requisite fudge and brittle is proudly on display. They have a variety of options on offer, including several sugar free ones! They also make brittle and in retrospect, I wish I had gotten some. Peanut Butter Chocolate The GF loves the combo of chocolate and peanut butter so we decided to try this iteration. The huge nougats of peanut butter were salty complements to the creamy, thick fudge. Joann’s Fudge is definitely another winner in my book. If you’re on the Island, I wouldn’t hesitate to step i
