The food was less than favorable… But the price tag of the so-called cuisine… Was not anywhere close to the quality of food that was served… The waitress was courteous… But the food seriously tasted like it was cooked and came out of the damn microwave…$ 20 bucks for food that tasted like that what a shame… I’m seriously surprised the place is in business… Avoid this one restaurant or so they call it… In less of you enjoy paying high prices for subpar food!!! And an absolutely filthy environment… A little improvement to the property and maybe some body that can actually cook something besides instant food would make this restaurant a whole heck of a lot better!!!

Awesome homemade food and pies. Make sure you try the honey, cinnamon butter with the rolls.

Went during lunch and I had the appetizer of jalapeño bombers, chicken fried chicken sides of fried okra and grilled squash and it was ok. Few things that could have been better: chicken breast was bland. I could also taste the oil it was fried in. The«grilled» squash were not grilled but a soggy bowl of limp slice. Seemed they tried to grill frozen veggies. Squash had a seasoning that had a bitter after taste to it. Jalapeño bombers were crisp and browned nicely but had cold filling. On the positives waitress were attentive and offered recommendations and the place had great character. Oh yes and the rolls were great. Super soft and warm served with a homemade honey butter. I’ll be trying something not fried next time.

I happened upon this restaurant while passing through. The food was cooked to order and it was excellent. I had the grilled pork chops and they were worth the wait. I am glad I found this place instead of eating fast food near the freeway.

Best CFS I’ve ever had in Texas… the mashed potatoes are REAL and delicious. Hubby and I still talk about how good the food was, and how sweet and attentive the server was. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re in Lytle and looking for awesome home cooking!!!

When the first owners had this place food was great. Now it just instant and frozen food heated up. Example mash potatoes are most definitely not authentic. Salsberry steak is just a frozen hamburger patty heated up with instant gravy the other stuff that comes with it mushrooms and grilled onions are ok. They do have amazing salads but for $ 10 they better be! Chicken salad sandwiches are pretty good can’t go wrong with that!

Sweet cinnamon butter for delicious rolls. Really cool atmosphere in a really old building. I got the philly cheese steak, but it’s all good!

The Chicken Fried Steak is among the best I’ve ever had. The fried pickles are great. I have never had anything at The Railhead that wasn’t good.

Opps I added this because it didn’t show up on my phone. It was family friendly, good service(hard to find in most places!!). My husband said the burgers were good and so were the made there onion rings. The fries, chicken fried steak(I rarely find a CFS that I will order again– next time I get the big one!!) and mashed potatoes were all good. We got a child’s plate for our 1 y/o and one for our 3 y/o and it was so much the could have shared one(not normal for our boys). The fish was ok but not great. The chicken nuggets(made there also I think) were AMAZING! Our 1 y/o spilled his milk on the floor and I think it was the owner who came and helped me clean it up, and his wife works in the kitchen. Think this may become an every Sunday after church place! :)
