We are from out of town and got to enjoy this place. The BBQ is really great. We got the Daves double with brisket and pulled pork. Red beans and rice are ok but the wife loved vinegary coleslaw. We would defiantly come back and had a nice coupon off of Unilocal!to bring the price down a bit.

Man handler was awesome. Green chili was some of the best my friend has had. Great music, cozy atmosphere. Husband liked the Coke slaw which is always hit or miss.

My man and I enjoyed a delicious meal here on out way back toward Denver from Estes Park. I wish we had each ordered the Man-Handler! We ordered one Man-Handler and one bowl of the green chili, with intentions to share and get to try both. But, I could have eaten a whole burger myself! Perfectly juicy medium rare, with crisp smoky sweet bacon, and pulled pork! Sooooo good. Sweet potato fries were the perfect accompaniment. Favorite sauces were chipotle or tangy for the fries and sweet for dipping the burger just before a bite. Chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert was over the top. Only complaint was feeling rushed. We didn’t realize they closed moments after we walked in the door. When we felt rushed we first asked what time they closed, but were told it was«all good». We then looked for the hours to find out if that was why, which it was. It felt a bit awkward. I am big on open and honest communications so would have just rather known the employees were trying to wrap up, clean up, and close up. We would definitely come back. In the meantime, I am going to attempt to recreate that burger at home!

I’d like you to think of your favorite BBQ. If you thought of anything other than Smokin’ Dave’s, you’re lying to yourself. I ordered the naked(no sauce) wings. I was halfway through my first wing and stopped. Not from my tears of joy, but because I didn’t know wings could taste this good. The spices were a perfect combination of savory and sweet. The tenderness of the meat was soft but not soggy, juicy but not greasy. The slight crisp of the fried outer skin, wondrous. The smoke lightly touched every ounce. All textures and tastes working in harmony. Chuck Norris only cried once, and it was after he finished his first plate of wings at Smokin’ Dave’s. The movie«Love Actually» borrowed it’s name from a wing experience here. Thoughts of these wings drive people to confession. I no longer remember my first kiss…
In any case, do yourself a favor and check this place out. Your taste buds will thank you.

Delicious Carolina pulled pork, great vinegary slaw, sweet and tangy beans. Great service, and an excellent beer selection that’s reasonably priced. Awesome place.

Had lunch here yesterday while in Lyons with a friend. Ordered the Pitmaster sandwich combo that was the largest sandwich I have ever seen I think. Barely could eat the entire thing it was that big. Came with brisket, pulled pork and a jalapeño smoked sausage. I think it would have been better if the sausage was sliced up inside instead of being whole. Wish they would chop up the brisket instead of slice it. Overall probably the best barbecue sandwich combo ever I would say. Much better experience here today than the last time I was in here.

After a playin’ hooky day to Estes Park, I stopped here for a early dinner, and liked the roadhouse type vibe. The old license plates decorating the walls and the back of the bar, the old posters, rusted vintage signs, and the blues music overhead made the ambiance restful. I chose the catfish entrée, and«smashed potatoes» and sautéed green beans for sides. The portions were so generous, I took half home for my lunch the next day. I must say, though, to get the check just ten minutes after getting served, with the«there’s no rush» saying did dull the mood — even though there were very few other patrons. Please, servers, just tweak your sense of timing a bit. Otherwise, it was a good experience.

So. Delicious. I got the Carolina pulled pork sandwich and it was to die for. The sweet potato fries were delicious too and there were lots of different bbq sauces to choose from. Plus, dog-friendly patio!

Yum! Perfect Carolina Pulled Pork! Perfect cole slaw! Perfect green beans! Great service and cool bar! We sat at the bar and ate. I had a Long Island Iced Tea and enjoyed it thoroughly! The bartender was great, checking on us often and engaging in nice conversation! I loved the cool, quiet atmosphere and that our food came quickly. Their sauces were yummy(had to try them all) and the place was clean, just the way I like it! I would go again, and likely will, the next time I’m traveling through Colorado!

After a few hikes in Rocky National Park, we stopped here for dinner and had a wonderful experience! First, the service: we had two dogs with us so they allowed us to sit on their patio with them and quickly set a table up for us. Our server was very attentive despite us being the only guests dining outside(she didn’t forget about us!). Second, the ambiance. I can only review their outside dining area as that’s where we dined. It was a beautiful summer Colorado evening… what more could you ask for? Now, I will mention that the flies were a bit annoying, but I’m dining outside, on a picnic bench, in the Rocky Mountains, eating BBQ with my hands. I can’t exactly expect a pristine, bug-less situation. Lastly, the food. Ok, so I feel like BBQ is one of those cuisines that really depends on personal preference. Some like it sweet, some like it smoky, etc. For me? It was some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had. I’m from SoCal where authentic, down-home, non-chain BBQ is hard to come by, so I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Personally, I don’t like a lot of sauce and this food was sauced to perfection. Plus, they have a few different side sauces to choose from should you want to make things a bit more… saucy! There were five of us so we ordered the family meal and yet we still had leftovers for dinner the next day. For sides we ordered French fries(good but ok to skip to leave room in your tummy for the meats), spiced apples(SO yummy! They melt in your mouth!), green beans(good), and beans(delish! Not too sweet and with a little spice). If you’re in a large group, this is definitely the way to order so you can try a bunch of meats and sides, all at a super reasonable price. Thanks for the great experience and meal, Smokin’ Dave’s!

We checked out Smokin Dave’s on the recommendation of a friend and found it wonderful. Our waiter Luis was very attentive and very informative. I had the meatloaf and my friend had the mixed plate of pork, brisket and sausage. It was wonderful. There was enough for me to have two meals of it. One of the best BBQ’s we’ve visited.

We were stuck in traffic heading up to Estes park and this place magically appeared. It was rustic looking and you could smell the smoked n BBQ goodness from the side of the road– totally made my mouth water. Went inside and it was really dark in there so we sat on the patio so we could enjoy the sunshine. Hospitality was great there and patio was even better. Our ice teas showed up ice cold, in big cup right away. I like the fact that the cups are so big and they keep the drinks flowing! Ordered the BBQ nachos and they were the bomb!!! Tortilla chips smothered in cheese, beans, brisket, pulled porked with a side of salsa, chopped jalapenos and red chile. Oh my goodness– what a meal! The nachos show up quick and then came our three meat platter. Smoked n BBQ brisket, pulled pork and BBQ chicken with a side of flavorful BBQ and less than impressive potato salad. That’s the only thing bad thing I would really have to say. It was watery and besides, my mother in law makes the best potato salad anyway. The meat was warm and tender, slow cooked goodness in my mouth. So good that I had to lay down on the pic in bench after. I really enjoyed tasting all the BBQ sauces they had on the table. Man down, man down with BBQ sauce all over my face. It was such a great time there with great food and thanks to Unilocal, our bill was only $ 5. We tipped our waitress well because we left with such a good taste in our mouths about that place. Portions are huge and yummy and service is on point!!! What a great little hidden gem! Can’t wait to go back :)

The food was absolutely awesome! The service was almost non existent. The food came quickly and was plentiful and delicious. My drink of choice was water, and after I finished the first glass, it was sitting empty on the table for at least five minutes. When the waiter came by to see if everything was okay, I said yes and he still walked away without asking if I needed a refill. I had to ask for it. After I finished the meal, I opted for the dessert, which was bread pudding. Again, it was wonderful and I again finished my water. He asked if there was anything else, and I asked for water again. All in all, I had better service at the Estes Park location, and the food was great at both locations. Maybe this was an off night. It was a Thursday and not very crowded, but I have rarely had to ask for refills elsewhere.

This place was pretty good. The portions are huge and the service was pretty good(a little on the slow side, but nice and friendly). The Unilocal deal($ 30 for $ 15) works so I’d recommend using it. There are lots of sauces on the table– the spicy sauce was my favorite. They have Carolina mustard, but being the South Carolina native that I am, it wasn’t what I expected. It was more of a mixture of a vinegar, tomato, mustard sauce. It was dark in color – not golden like I’m used to. It wasn’t terrible though. I’d recommend the chicken and pulled pork for the meats. Both were great.

Never assumed this little gem would be so delicious. The server was great and attentative. I went with the ribs and mashed potatoes and baked beans. The meat was tender. Love the sauces on the table. Everything was flavorful and came in nice sized portions. I checked out the dessert menu too, but had no room unfortunately

Service is a bit slow but very friendly. The brisket is the best I’ve had, I’m a fan for that and the green beans! Yum!

A-OK Smokin’ Dave’s in Lyons. It does not have some of the charm and energy as the Estes restaurant– this one is a little darker. Food is about the same, and there is a great patio to eat on if FIDO needs a break. Sometimes, I will stop to bring take out home to Denver, this time, I just devoured a pull pork sandwich, got one for a friend, and got back on the road. YUM
