J’Monique Creations the Salon

I found JMonique Creations through a google search and ultimately decided on her due to her Unilocal reviews. I contacted her on FB regarding pricing and scheduling. I told her that my daughter and I would like our hair done. She booked us for a 4:30 appointment. We arrived a bit early and she began on my daughters hair first. Children’s braids.
I didn’t prefer the way she blow dried our hair. We are natural and it takes a bit more technique and time and it felt incredibly too rough, especially with a paddle brush. My daughters hair took a while, much longer than I assumed it would have for simple braids and twists. She finished my daughters hair at close to 8:00
Then she started my hair. I asked for crochet braids, I saw the review here that she did crochet braids. She didn’t ask me any other questions about the type of crochet braids I wanted or anything about preparation. I showed her a photo of the style I wanted.
She took about what felt like an hour to braid my base. After installing the hair it was almost 11:00 p.m. She then started putting the rollers in and then told me she had no way to boil water. So between the microwave and keurig she tried to dip my hair but it just wasn’t hot enough.
Finally, at 12:45 a.m. she sent us home (my poor daughter it was her first salon experience and she NEVER wants to go back) and I still had rollers in my hair. She told me that in the future I can bring the hair a day or so before so she can prep… would have been nice to know prior to my visit. She offered for me to come back, and discounted my services, but I didn’t go back at all.
More than likely I won’t be back. The failure to communicate, the fact that I spent 8 hours in her salon for two styles that should have taken 3 or 4 hours tops, and all of her excuses were just unacceptable to me. I definitely do NOT recommend.

Great experience definitely going back. Took her time and my hair feels great. I’m excited I finally found an ethnic hair stylist that knows wat to do with my hair.

I have NEVER had my hair professionally done. I’ve always been way too scared to have a stranger near me with something hot and/​or sharp, but I wanted a haircut sooo bad! I did about two months research online & by word of mouth & kept hearing about J’Monique. Unilocal reviews were great too. I finally called her & told her what I wanted & she instantly made me feel reassured that this process was going to work out just fine. She asked me questions about hair type, styling habits, lifestyle, etc… Shes super friendly & even more knowledgable. Relief! I really liked the setup of her shop. too. t’s clean, well stocked, & private. The haircut and style she gave me is AMAZING! Not only did I leave feeling brand new, but she also explained how to maintain my look & what products to use. This wil be the only stylist I go to. She is well worth the drive to Lynnwood. I hate to tell people when I found something so good, but I see a lot of folks that need hair help, so go get some help! She does everything.

Great shop and amazing stylist. She is very experienced and her prices are worth it. She’s friendly and easy to talk. Shop is always clean and smells good. I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing a stylist.

She always makes my wife look awesome. She can cut it, color it, and stlye it.
