Feeling generous here with rating 3 stars because it’s my local Shoprite. Usually, I go out of my town to Shoprite in Belleville because they have fresher fruits and vegetables. Pros: clean bathroom, fresh sushi, fresh pastries and bakery, liquor store nearby and Home Goods, there’s always someone pushing the shopping carts to the front of the store, accepts coupons and it can be redeem as double coupon. This seems pretty common in all Shoprite locally in the area. I.E. A $ 0.75 coupon is redeemed as $ 1.50 off. Cons: long cashiers line, some checkout aisle have no baggers, crowded, parking spaces shared with other nearby businesses, busy deli area with grumpy folks serving you, certain aisle is disorganized with items being misplaced with wrong price labels.

This place has gone downhill in the worst way. Prices have gone up, quality has gone way down. Third time I’ve bought«fresh» fish that was bad at what was once a great seafood section. After spending almost $ 20 on dover sole, I brought it home and it didn’t smell bad after opening it. After cooking it, it tasted so strongly of ammonia that it went through my nose(ammonia taste in fish implies decomposition)…nice shot Shop Rite; selling that pre-Christmas fish batch over a week later at full price. I could have brought it back and complained but you know what? I was so disgusted with Shop Rite of Lyndhurst that I just threw it out and ate the $ 20, rather than having to set foot in this awful store again. I’ve gotten bad meat, bad fish, bad fruit, all at inflated prices since they have renovated. No… I’m not going back to complain or get my money back. I’m just NEVER shopping here again. Say goodbye to a once loyal customer. I will NEVER… unequivocally NEVER shop here again. Another shining example of a local business putting profit over quality. Go to Stop and Shop. Much… MUCH cleaner, way better prices, and you don’t have to deal with a Roman gladiator fight every time you go in there, like Shop Rite. The only drawback to Stop and Shop is their limited fish section. I’ll make the drive to Peters fish market in Midland Park, knowing that I will get fresh seafood every time. So much for that nice Saturday evening dinner with my wife. Thanks Shop Rite!

Come here for the freshness, overlook the solidly-packed parking lot and narrow aisles(but Whole Foods really takes the cake for elbowing). The prices are excellent and competitive, it’s hard to find a better deal somewhere else that is as conveniently located. I took one star off because I hate how they moved the liquor store.

Went to buy some items before an epic snow storm. Holy cow the craziness that went on in that place! Half hour wait for deli meat. Ran out of chicken stock. Lines out the wazoo. Announcements that no body could understand. People playing shopping cart chicken. Old folks yelling about clam chowder. Fun times!

Oddly enough, like the other lone review, I’m also from So Cal, but my opinion of SR is very different. I found the location to be pretty ghetto. Sure, the store is huge and they have a variety of items, but as an out of town, single young gal, I wasn’t exactly comfortable in the store. I’m sure it was fine, but the clientele and my interaction with the staff made me cringe. Two days later I wound up at another ShopRite in a different part of NJ, and indeed my suspicions about this particular location’s «character» was spot on. If i’m ever in this SR’s neck of the woods again, I’ll be sure to keep on driving; I wasn’t that hungry anyway.

I was visiting from Los Angeles and knew exactly where this ShopRite was so when I needed to pick up a few items that I forgot to purchase at Trader Joe’s several days before I knew exactly where to go. I really wanted to make a ‘Veggie’ wrap and really needed to find ‘Organic’ Alfalfa sprouts. I figured a Supermarket that caters to the needs of let’s say ‘Northern New Jersey’ folk, I thought my chances were low of locating what I needed here but it was worth a shot. This Supermarket is kind of a trip because it is basically located on a residential street which means parking is never an issue not to mention the parking lot for this location is HUGE, like Mall parking lot BIG. I walked inside and immediately asked an employee in the produce section if they carried ‘Organic’ Alfalfa sprouts, the employee responded ‘we sure do.’ The employee walked me over to the area and I immediately found what I was looking for. The employee prior to walking away asked me if I needed anything else so I asked if they had a ‘Vegan’ section. The employee again responded ‘we sure do.’ The employee walked me over to the ‘Vegan’ section and low & behold they had everything that Trader Joe’s did. If you wanted Vegan Sausage, Tofu, Vegan cheese, Vegan patties you name it they had it. I walked around the store some more and checked out a few items. I was a little disappointed when I could not find Sriracha sauce or Rice Wine Vinegar and for that reason and that reason only they will be given a rating of 4-Stars. I did find this location to be clean, employee to be walking around sweeping, moping and looking busy. Every register and I mean every register was open and every register and I mean every register had a ‘Service Clerk’ bagging the groceries for the customer. The lines were moving quickly and everyone seemed on the ball. Our local Ralph’s should take a lesson from these guys. If and when I am in the area again I will without question come back here.
