How have I never reviewed this place? I’ve been coming here since I was a kid! The Brick has a neighborhood feel and the food is always solid. You can order from the menu or grab any of the nightly specials and can’t go wrong; really; everything is good in his quiet American Classic restaurant. I love the Sliced steak sandwich. It’s marinated New York strip sliced thin and covered in rich brown gravy with mushrooms and served on a single piece of white toast. The toast soaks up the gravy and becomes rich and buttery addition to the dish. Grab some steak fries or mashed/baked with a side vegetables and a soup or salad at a price that hasn’t changed since the 1990s. The bar has a great atmosphere and is always a great place to catch up with friends. The bar food is also amazing. Burgers are juicy and served on English muffins and the tidbits set the standard for which I compare all other tidbits to. If you want a hot bowl of traditional onion soup, this is the place. You’ll love it.

I came in and had the Prime Rib and it was amazing. Started my meal by splitting wings, jalapeño poppers and a shrimp cocktail with my buddy had their soup du jor which was a Manhattan clam chowder and all of it was top notch. The wait staff was amazing and the Guinness was poured perfectly. Everything was reasonably priced. Considering all we had to eat and drink I was shocked to see a bill under $ 100. I can’t remember the last time I’ve gone out on Long Island with one of my buddies and spent less then $ 100(yeah we drink a lot). Highly recommended. Can’t wait to go back.

The food is good and the prices are right for an enjoyable sit down dinner. Drinks are made well and I have never had a problem with their service. You never feel rushed and can enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace.

Brick Café has been in Lynbrook for many years but each time I have been there they treated me with indifference as I’m not a «regular», the last time and last time I was there I walked out as the waitress was arrogant. Will not be going back.

Had been wanting to go to this place because I pass it all the time. The service was good and the food was good. The décor is dated and very dark. There was a weird smell that must have been coming from the carpet. This is a local place and I probably will order and take out next time.

I’ve been there a half dozen times since I first reviewed this back in January 2015. Pretty sure I won’t be back. Ate there Tuesday night and the service was pathetic. The place was a little busy, but not so busy as to ignore diners. We waited over a half hour for appetizers, and even longer for our meals. Requested creamed spinach and received mixed veggies. commented on it and waitress took away the mixed veggies to be replaced by nothing. Not sure what the calamari tasted like, but certainly didn’t taste like calamari. Steak was mediocre, if that. If they can’t handle a Tuesday, I shutter to think what service would be like on a weekend.

Average at best. I wanted to like it as I live nearby. The staff is good. I have to say I only ordered a sandwich and it was good. The reason I ordered the sandwich was because the entrees were way overpriced for the restaurant. They should expand their burger selection as an alternative to their entrees which are too pricey

What a gem! We haven’t been here for a while and once we sat down, fond memories came flooding back. Prices are reasonable, portions are more than ample. My wife and I were with another couple. We ordered two stuffed shrimp dinners, the knockwurst special and the skirt steak special. Each meals delicious, properly prepared and came out within a reasonable waiting time. We’re going to put Maier’s back on our regular rotation. The only knock, a lack of private parking.

This was the worst place I ever went. Save your time and money. They are mean and nasty. The service was the worst thing I ever experienced. I never write a bad review but this was necessary. They are only nice and accommodating to the regulars. All I have to say is stay away! If I could give it negative stars I would

Great local spot!!! Entire staff including hostess, waitress and busboy were great. Food was terrific. Loved the«pork chops and apple sauce». Went with my wife and two little ones(5 and 2). We all had a great time! Dessert– homemade blueberry pie!!! Can’t wait to go back!

We had a great dinner! Service was top notch, friendly and the food was really excellent. I felt they gave it an extra touch with the prompt service and they care about their customers, which was apparent. We will definitely be going again!

More like 3.5 stars. I truly enjoy this local watering hole. Good place to go for a drink and the food is ok. Chicken tidbits and cheeseburger are great. Standard bar cuisine.

The Château Briand for 2 is the best I have ever had! For under $ 50.00, you get huge portions. We never leave hungry and we never leave without taking home a doggy bag. I have tried other dishes and they did not have the«wow» factor but honestly we have never had a bad experience. Food is above average and the wait staff is on top of their game and always come with a smile. This is our GOTO place for date night.

Warm, cozy. Prime rib special on Saturday night is a great value. The staff make you feel like you are part of the family. They happily accommodate special requests. Brick salad is huge, fresh and tasty. Steak and chicken tidbits consistently good. Don’t miss the house made Peanut Butter pie.

This place is known for its steak special for $ 16.95. Its really hit or miss at Maiers. Some nights are steaks have been wonderful, others its a matter of slicing thru the fattest piece of meat you have ever seen. On our last outing they sat us in the back near the kitchen and there were a TON of fruit flies at our table, YUCK! Dont know if we will go back.

While Maier’s Brick Café may seem like a nice place to eat, I did not think it was anything special when I used to go here to eat with my friend. When you first enter Maier’s Brick Café, you will find the bar and dining room to be divided into two parts and that the atmosphere is slightly dark, with paneling on the walls lined with sports memorabilia which made the atmosphere a little more interesting. When I first entered, I found it a bit odd that they served tortilla chips with chili as opposed to a breadbasket, as it was not a Mexican restaurant(it is an Irish American restaurant), but the spicy and meaty chili with tortilla chips was an alright way to start off our meal. For appetizers, I found their Buffalo Wings to be decent as they were on the large side and meaty and were served in a Buffalo sauce that was spicy enough to cause a pleasant heat tingle in the back of your throat. I also like the Burgers, which are fairly large and juicy. However, the appetizers and the burger is where the good news about the food ends. I found the Prime Rib, which is a weekend only special, to be slightly tough and very fatty as opposed to tender. The Chicken Kapalua, which is Grilled Chicken with Mixed Vegetables, had Grilled Chicken that was juicy but the Mixed Vegetables seemed like they were just frozen stir fry vegetables, ruining the dish and its presentation, which was messy and haphazard. I also tried the Broiled Waterside Combination another time, which has Shrimp, Scallops and Flounder. I found this dish to be rather bland and lacking taste. Depending on the season, you may also receive a complimentary seasonal vegetable dish with your meal, such as corn on the cob, which was sweet and steamed well(but then again, how hard is it to screw up corn?). The fries were crispy and cut in a wide fashion. I also found their salad to taste as it had been premade for dinner service, in spite of a tangy house dressing. While the food was poor at worst and mediocre at best, the excellent service saves me from giving Maier’s Brick Café one star as opposed to two. This was so as I found the waitresses to be extremely friendly, efficient, and accomodating of my food allergies to eggs, wheat, and yeast. Also, the owner Hank is very friendly and makes sure that all his customers are happy! While the prices may seem reasonable in the low teens on average and dinners typically include your choice of soup or salad and sides, like some other Unilocalers, I would rather spend a little more for better food. In spite of the friendly service and decent burgers and appetizers, I would not go out of my way to Maier’s Brick Café as I believe there are better choices of restaurants.
